  • that looks adicting than today'scomputer

  • It's funny that for it's time it was VERY advanced..I can't wait to see what PC's and laptops will look like in the next 20 years... Our advanced technology will look so obsolete then

  • I cant go up or down on my apple IIc Ms. Pac man :(

  • I spy a Macintosh! Which do you prefer as a gaming computer?

  • ahh i enjoy watching videos of obsolete hardware so i feel better about my gma 950 graphics XD

    D:

  • WHATS WRONG WITH IT, HUH?!?!? THAT ITS MONOCHROME?????

  • @101mlbiggs Nothing wrong with it. It's just monochrome monitor. The game itself is in color if you use a color monitor.

  • Ever since Steve died, I've been on an entire Apple History Frenzy.

Thank you so much for posting this, it brings back a lot.

  • i luv watching old tech..they're pretty amazing even in this day and age ..haha

  • Considering the limitations of the Apple II, you have to tip your hat to the developer for such a great port. Animation is smooth and sound isn't half bad.

  • Black-and-green display FTW!

  • damn thing boots faster then a freaken gameboy LOLOL

  • I wrote that game. Thanks for appreciating it! :D It was my proudest achievement a year after high school. :)

  • you suck in pacman :P

  • After nearly 30 years of hearing that boot sound I never get tired of the grind! YAY APPLE II! :)

  • I want one!

  • The sounds...they are raping my ears!

  • playing these sort of games back in 83 where like playing CoD lol

  • i hear the crickets! thats so weird cause its winter

  • "Ah shit! I died. " LOL!

  • DON'T ENTER 77!

  • @SuperiMac2 No, the Apple I was not a commercial success; it was sold as a kit that could be built by the purchaser, and did not have any commercially available software.

  • If I knew that Ms. Pacman was available for the Apple II I would have saved up all my money to buy one! FAIL on my part. This video is a WIN =)

  • One of the unique features of Ms. Pac-Man is the different ports of that game on all the system--they had their own sound effects, their own graphics, their own feel, character, you name it, that's what we liked about the 1980s. Now look at all the different CLONES, yes CLONES of the arcade port there are; same sound effects, gets tiring after a while. I love the arcade port to death, but it does get old with all the clones produced today. We still need to appreciate the 'older' versions.

  • This video makes me want to dig my Apple II + out of the closet. Do you remember the game called Karateka? Fantastic game for the II series. The sights and sounds in this video take me back twenty five years. Thanks for the video.

  • what does the apple 2 do ?

  • is it supposed to be green?

  • @Geno11116 probably. a lot of computers back then weren't too advanced especially when they had pixel graphics. like the gameboy, it had a yellow screen :) lol

  • @Geno11116 The game supports color. I think (??) that particular Apple monitor was color OR green, with a switch to toggle either. Text was much sharper in green, so that was a "feature." ;-)

  • @bbishoppcm that thing boots faster than my windows vista laptop

  • Pls put the camera on a tripod.

  • faster than a gameboy? It's fast but not that fast!!!

  • I should snag an emulator and play these for ol times sake!

  • I'm going to steal your apple II. I want classic PCs.

  • Potty mouth. Monochrome eh? That is one helluva speed boot.

  • hi, i need help finding a classic computer game. its the one were your like a triangle and you go and capture these yellow flags and these red triangular things try to stop you. im not sure if it is a classic mac game but i had it on an old mac a long time ago. thanks.

  • 1st, nice Apple //e. second nice Macintosh on the right, third can i use a joystick? if so where can i get one,

  • Wow. It's like 1989 all old again. Too bad there were better PCs by then. My school(s) was/were cheap.

  • @WebVMan lol my ghetto school was still using apple 2's in 1995

  • ohhhh my god those sounds bring back memories

  • Who's the newbie? I don't appreciate comments like this on my videos.

  • Sounds is ANNOYING lol

kinda cool for his age :)

  • Wow. Memories of apple II running in my mind.

  • In the video that I left as a response, you can see that the Commodore 64 can cold boot this game pretty fast as well. It is a very early game, so it loads fast. I must say Apple II seems to 'wake up' a bit faster though, along with it's diskdrive - whereas the Commodore 64 does the actual loading a bit faster. In any case, these old systems are very quick to boot a game with compared to a modern PC or even a console.

  • Is that background sound real crickets?

  • plz reply 2 me. how do u get games for that computer? do you boot them off a floppy disk?

  • You can find software on eBay, but you can also download some software off the web; however, you need a bit of equipment to make this possible, I have a video on here somewhere that shows you how to make this happen... it required me to have a working OS 8 or 9 mac w/ 3.5" floppy drive and an Apple II with 3.5" floppy, and a TON of 720k (or 800k) floppy disks... 1.44 MB disks will not work for this.

  • thanks, im getting one of these.

  • ohh god my eyes green screen ahhhh!!! nooooo!!! get a new apple computer dam thats old but classic at the same time. what other games you got on that stone age computer.

  • pretty good sound for an Apple II given it has a relatively primitive sound chip.

  • the machine gun disk drive sound brings back some memories :)

  • Lol, you got good mic,

I thought them sounds were from my yard

  • One day I predict we wil be able to watch videos on our computers.

People think I'm crazy...but you'll all see it happen maybe when we're old people.

  • @TruthandJustice101 BAM, you predicted the present.

  • does not boot up as fast as a nes. but i guess its ok.

  • That loads so much faster than any other game I've played on the Apple IIe. Do you have a Joystick card for the computer? I suspect Pac Man would be much easier to play with one, than it is with the keyboard.

  • Hey. I have one of these and my dad needs to check the harddrive to see if we have financial info on it before we sell/ give it away. We cannot seem to fingure out how to acces it, when we turn it on it says error: $ 0027. Anyone know how to get it to work?

  • There is no hard disk drive on an Apple II, unless you have the very rare external drive (I believe it was a ProFile drive), in which case, it's probably worth more than any data you have on it from 25 years ago.

  • so you are actually worried someone might see those numbers and learn about your home economy status from the 80's?

its not like it can be used to blackmail you guys or anything anymore.

  • Data, regardless of age, can still contain sensitive financial information (social security numbers, account numbers, etc).

  • sounds like Ms. Pacman is a dalek in disguise!

  • The sound of the beep and floppy seek on boot up of the apple II brings back great memories.....good times.

  • Wait, so A is UP and Z is DOWN? I'll have give that a try when I come home in a few weeks; I had given up trying to figure out the controls on this game!

(I have a Mac LC II with the IIe emulator card)

  • _____Jeez-McCheese, it sounds like a leprechaun threw some angry cats into a nuclear-powered blender with that speaker. Is THAT what passed for sound effects back then? (That's probably where they got their sound inspiration from, too.) It's a wonder why kids' hearing wasn't permanently damaged. Or at least, their sense of reality wasn't warped.... As for me, my sense of reality came out just fine--so long as I can ignore the six-legged midgets and their teams of clown-marines.

  • I don't think Apple II had internal speakers. My guess is a disk speaker, which is not really a speaker, and usually located on the motherboard.

  • The Apple II definitely had an internal speaker.

  • Possibly, but rather low quality sound for today's standards, obviously.

  • Are those spring peepers in the background ? If so, sounds like my back yard too !

  • Apple IIe with Apple III monitor is a computer used in Lost ;)

  • Great video, I remember typing in programs using logo, was a lot of fun.

  • the graphics are good but could have used color which i guess it was incapable of

  • Actually, Apple was a pioneer in color computing. The Apple I was possibly the first color computer ever built! This particular machine, however, is equipped with a monochrome phosphor monitor.

  • Hey thres one in my classes plus the first mac.

  • Apple I had no colour, first Apple II was a color computer.

  • Not according to Steve Wozniak's' autobiography, "iWoz." The Apple I was capable of displaying a variety of colors, unless I misinterpreted it somehow...

  • All Apple II series models had color if you hooked one up to a television set.

  • "Damn thing boots faster than a freakin' GameBoy." lol... Awesome! Good 'ol days.

  • That's nice.

  • Gaming without DirectX -- those were the days!

  • Do you still have the disk? Would I be able to get a copy? None of my disks are readable these days. I can paypal a few bucks... I have an old APple 2e that still works.

  • i love my apple2e but i just wish the damn thing had a volume control for that pc speeker its anoying as hell!!!!!!!

  • nice. look how close the RESET button is! lol

  • Why are there chirping crickets?

  • I love the multivoice intro music, but the in-game sounds are loud and annoying. Aside from that, Atarisoft had excellent high-quality translations of their arcade classics for all sort of home computers of the '80s.

  • Thank you so much for the video - this is incredible! I lived through the Apple II era, and loved it. I currently have a 20" imac

  • Pacman rocks! :-)

does it work on an 64KB apple2+ too?

  • It does. Actually only needs 48K if that and works fine on the original Apple ][.

  • WOAH ITS STRONG BAD'S COMPUTER!

  • STRONG BAD'S COMPUTER is Lappy 486 ok?
