  • Ahhh... we played this same arrangement! Good times!

  • i so so sooooo miss playing this :') i played it in band and practiced so hard to learn my solo for music of the night..... then, not long after i had perfected it and could play it without guidance or having to repeat the section or slow down.... they got rid of it. i'd give anything to play this piece again and Rainbow city band did a great job of playing this :)

  • the band im with is gonna play this next month and its real hard. im amazed at these guys because i couldnt belive i didnt hear any mistakes!

  • @Whitemangangsta you didnt hear the squeaks? You didnt hear a cut in the recording at the very end during Music of the Night?

  • Ahhhh brilliant guys! The clarinets sound amazing! Were doing this for a concert in 3 weeks, its gunna be immense :-)

  • You guys are amazing, seriously. :) I'm playing this in band and we REALLY need to practice if we want our sound to be as good as yours. GREAT JOB! :)

  • were in 7th grade and we are already playing this song

  • @808balletgurl wait, this song is pretty easy. and we are in 7th and 8th grade, but we are a good band. got superior at festival

  • the start is extremly out of tune.. you also need a bigger tempo, and the saxes do a bad job at 2:04 ..

  • Some cracks here and there some wrong notes as well

  • LOVE!

  • aww... I played this my in my old high school's symphonic band. *tear* memories... this was one of my favorites!

  • :) I am using this medley as my conducting piece for drum major auditions :)

  • @tatios1710 odly enough i did too o.O

  • @countchocularules haha Cool. Did you make it?

  • @tatios1710 sure did! :D

  • In the first mesure I couldn't hear the clainets trill

  • we can get measures 1-14 down...

  • cant or cant?

  • @OldChikity well now that maggie and jess decided to freiken join the clarinets its becoming worse and we cant even play aztec fire! ITS LIKE THE EASIEST SONG IN THE WHOLE FREIKEN WORLD I MEAN WHAT THE FREAK!?!!? oh sorry im was venting all of my anger....

  • we're gonna play this in my school band!!! YES!!! and I HAVE THE CONDUCTOR'S SCORE!!! and it's really hard to follow along...i gave up on trying to follow the melody and harmony...i tried to stick to following the melody...i can't wait to play this, it's awesome!

these guys did it pretty good. there were a few mistakes that i heard, some of it seemed kinda choppy, and the 'rit.' parts were WAY too fast in my opinion, but...i can be critical. it was pretty good.

  • Haha my middle school advanced band is playin the exact same thing :) but almost as good as you guys :D

  • Love the quality on this vid. I just wish i could paly this at school for all the student to hear what thire part is to sound like. In fact in the begining of the song the fast flute part is realy what i needed to hear. Just wondering to any one out there, if all the flutes that are in my class don't realy care and don't practis how they should, do you think that it means the same thing to be the first chair flute vs. if all the flutes were realy good? i

  • @celenegood I think that if you were to tell them you will be picking who is first chair in your flute section that they would become competitive. Flute players tend to be divas. They should grow out of it. I play flute myself, so I have seen it in band in the 8 years I have been playing. I know if the girls in my section did not work as hard as they do, we would be very hard on them. Do you make them do playing tests by themselves? That should freak them out and make them practice. :)

  • @tatios1710 it'll freak any interment out inti practicing...

  • We just got a similar medley yesterday in my High School band. It's SO much fun. At the end of 'Think of Me' we have a scream, then go back to "Phantom of the Opera." So much fun ~~

  • Oh, theyre should really have brought out the counter melody in the begining!

  • our junior high is plaing this as 7th graders. thyre balace is off, but its all good i guess

  • the squeeky clarinet is at 4:11 but you have to go back further to catch it.

  • i didn't get to play this in 8th grade cause in 7th grade the 8th graders played it along with queen! i was pissed! i'm a 1st chair trombone. {i heard the clarinet!}

  • damn i heard that squeaky clarinet again! listen to eighth candle by these guys and youll hear it.

  • I'm playing this in band right now. I play Bass Clarinet. I'm the only one on my instrument.

    Tough to find bass clarinetists.

  • I play oboe and were playing this. Im first chair so I get a solo at Angel of Music.

  • ooo i love that song

  • me too dawg know ur feeling!

  • I LOVE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA i got my band director to play this for us in the 8th grade and it was awesome! not as good as this though. :D

  • WE R GOING TO PLAY THIS!

  • Our freshman band did this 2 years ago.

  • our county band is playin this and its goin great. i play bartione for it. and i love music of the night and hate angel of music. lol

  • The Excelsior Springs Tiger Pride Band is doing this for the next concert, I am in fact in the Clairenet Section and I find The Phantom of the Opera Medly very good to play for fun

  • Great Performance. I have the flute and Bari Sax parts and I'm playing this in the summer

  • Everything is Pretty Good. Except "Think of Me" is way too fast in tempo.

  • my 7/8th grade band is playing this!

  • We are playing it in band too. Whenever we play our band director sings along with the music, but usually stuff like stuff like "Angel of music, angel of music! Play the right notes, legato!"

  • awesome.... ..and super cool that the trombones are wearing phantom masks

  • im a trombone and wiw did this for our 7th grade concert in march and i wish i got to wear those

  • You know, if the people who are critical of this performance would take the time to visit the Rainbow City Band's website, they would see that the band only meets once a week, whereas your typical high school band meets five days a week. Maybe you'll keep that in mind before you voice your unwanted criticism.

  • ahaha 4:11 "queek" xD

  • The tempo is all off, some parts are played too fast and others are played too slow. as well the trumpets at the begining have huge air pockets. I don't mean to be critical, but I played this piece and recorded it on CD with my high school band. I just tend to be really critical because I hear every little mistake that is made. lol. my Music instructor taught us to listen to the band, so when I listen to any music I hear every single detail to the music. they played well in tune.

  • totally agree. my 7/8 grade band is playing this, we've had it for a month and it is better than this

  • ROFL im playing it in 7th grade too :)

  • me too! just my school is a 7/8 grade band and i'm in 8th grade

  • we're playing this in band this year! Yay!

  • I played this in 7th grade band...oh my gosh...it was amazing...it was pretty funny, our conductor's mouth dropped. xD

  • omg! this is the exact version that my band played! (Hey, there are a lot of versions of "The phantom of the opera medley"

  • My schools homecomings theme is "Music of the Night; Phantom of the Opera, and for our homecoming assembly our band and orchestra played this, together.

    You guys sound really good!

    -Amber, Tacoma.

    [:

  • This is really cool. My band is actually performign the same piece. When we first played it, I was getting ready for the first note after the introduction, and when the entire band played it . . . HOLY COW! I almost dropped my flute!

  • you guys did really good

  • hee hee...there's like, five or six guys all in the brass section wearing Phantom masks...was that planned, by any chance? lol! ;-P

  • sweet

  • so nice

  • nice
