Here's my comment Go to school and crack a book you snot nosed know it all smart aleck kids BEFORE you say anything about someone like Bernstein or all the musicians in this video whom you will never begin to approach in any realm. The faster tempo has always been controversial. But, when Bernstien conducted this in Moscow for Shostakovich himself, it's said the composer commented that, while not technically correct, Bernstien's interpretation was in the spirit of the piece. As scored, it is much slower, and possibly grander, although not as exciting. At 9:20 it's almost an orgasm! One of multiples!

I like how Bernie bows to his orchestra before he turns to face the audience. What class!
