My comment was really just in jest but the reason some people think of those foods as "Jewish" foods, especially in New York, is because it was the Jewish delis that helped made them so famous in The States -- though pastrami comes from Romania, not Germany, and derives it's name from a Yiddish word. All we're really claiming is that it tastes good :)
