OMG Phil, what wonderful memories this brought back. I loved Glenn Miller and cried when he died. Loved the Andrew Sisters and all of the Big Bands who actually played music those days not the rotten crap they call music today. Thanks Phil. Maryanne
well im glad i wasnt around then. it be nice to hear the music but not when everyone in the audience was callin me a nigger, sorry but it was goin on back then. i wouldnt have my friends, i couldnt go to school and i would have to drink out a damn barrel
@zillahero Unfortunately most of the Black people in those days, didn't have the same opportunities, or the open doors that the White people had access to so what you state in your comment is a sad commentary of those days, but none the less they were the days in which I grew up during the Great Depression.
I saw the Miller band, but after Miller was lost over the English Channel in WW11...I was fortunate to see most of the big bands....Duke Ellington, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Les Brown, Louis Armstrong and others and like many other folks my age, we too miss the good 'ol days, and before TV, my folks,my brother and I , would sit around the our old table top "Philco" radio and listen to the regular shows and "The Hit Parade" on Saturday evenings, and some of the "Live" radio shows from New York...
Can't beat it.....the people from this era would jump on a grenade to save their best friend, Kill Gerry, come home, marry their high school sweetheart, have 8 kids and stay married through war and peace. God Bless em, I wish I could have been there to do my part.

"In The Mood" fenomenal pieza de Joseph Copeland “Joe” Garland y Andy Razaf. Fue grabada por vez primera en 1938 por Edgar Hayes y su orquesta, pero fue el trombonista Glenn Miller y su arreglo quien la impulsó al estrellato mundial.
So how does a smooth mello song like this get transformed into a big, hard hitting closer for today's high school big bands? to my mind it almost ruins the song playing fast and loud
@JasmineDuthie You aren't the only one who likes many different kinds of music. I think people who aren't open to other kinds of music lead a less full life.
@0289XYZ At the age of 59 this is clearly not my era,but the talent back then was awsome Some great music lead by the allstar himself,Glenn Miller. Miller is my Fav. Throw in all the musicals from 20th Century Fox with John Payne,Alice Faye and Betty Grable and I feel like I really missed something big.
People sometimes say that the Nazis won the propaganda war and wore spiffy uniforms and all that. But really, would you rather dance to Oompa Musik or this? Must made Stalin's hair stand on end that his five year plan could never produce anything like this.
Glenn Miller wrecked Big Band with his white-bread "music". You wanna hear good "pop" Big Band? Listen to Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman, Django Reinhardt, Woody Herman & His Swingin' Herd...etc. Miller killed Big Band & Swing.
@NYDoll9 Not true..I love listening to all the music of the greats you listed above, and love Miller and his work just as much. He did as much for morale during WW2 as any stirring speech by any politition. He assembled great musicians and gave them great arrangements of great songs. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, some may agree with you, I however do not....like you, Im just saying!....
i love this song it also reminds me of that movie the Parent Trap u know the more recent one? that part when they r at the hotel..yea they play this song in the background..lol
