  • I have never seen a 2 year old who can actually count. And she does it without skipping numbers or without pointing at one animal more than once. This is amazing!

  • that baby is really smart and intelligent she might even go th collage because she is really really really smart.

  • Wow, awesome mom. How much time do you spend daily on specific language learning? What's your routine like?

  • @DavidSkis we just hang out and read and sign things. I just do it as part of our daily activities :)

  • Very cute and intelligent baby.

  • adorable

  • awww shes so cute

  • Congratulations! Great job!

Could you tell me the title of the book with the "green frog"? The illustration looks really nice.

  • @nagyaron86 It's called Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See.

  • awww she is such a cutie

  • Such a sweet baby :0) & very smart too!!!

  • Hi!!

I'm form Brazil and I'm learning sign language at school, my teacher is deaf and I knew 2 deaf frieds! It's really amazing! Their culture, sensibility... I'm really proud of you for teaching your child to the signs, because the world really need to look at these people and we can do so much to improve our communication with them. When I have a child, I will do the same... to teach portuguese and LIBRAS (Brazilian Language of Signs)... Thank you so much!!!

  • oh dang when she the mom "f" i thought the baby said the f word lol

  • shes sooo smart, aww she beautiful=)

  • sign language is my first language both of my parents are deaf and i have grown up with sign my whole life my grandparents were concerned that i would have delayed speech but they were wrong and even though i started signing at 10 months i started talking pretty early :) i love sign language!

  • I love her! she's so adorable. I like how she said excuse me when she burped. :)

  • She's smarter than me LOL

  • What an adorable angel! I really admire you for raising your girl with so much love and attention.

  • WOW that was amazing way to go mom!

  • very cute daughter

  • wow this girl will be einstein someday :)

Its AMAZING. She's not just smart but cute and soo happy. She's not having any trouble learning or forced to learn. And you r great mom. :DD

  • I can honestly say my childrens speech came on leaps and bouds when i took them to sign. signing not only helps along with speach but also lessens the frustration of the child who cant yet talk (my kids where 6 months old when we started and not yet able to talk) .they can communicate through sign therefore less temper tantrums = happy kids= happy mammy :-)

  • Awweeee! Not only is she adorable but she's a smart little cookie! I adore her! Forget what they say. Sign language is great for anyone. You're doing a great job!

  • i am teaching my daughter signing too. i do not see why people still think it delays speech as you can clearly see she is signing and saying at the same time. and i think it actually make it faster and easier for them to learn more things. if there are kids that do not speak while learning how to sign then they are not been taught properly. i have the "your baby can read" and "your baby can sign" and my daughter loves those dvds.

  • I'm another mom to testify that signing does NOT delay speech development. Your little one has excellent pronunciation for a two year old. And she is a cutie.

  • ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! I am a deaf education major and have grown up not knowing a lot of sign although I have a deaf brother.... this is AMAZING and I will be doing this with all of my children because I know how hard it is to learn sign now instead of during that prime learning stage!

  • precious, so very very precious

  • SHe's a smart cutie!!! Also very polite. More polite than my little sister (8 years old). I love it when she says "Excuse me" when she burped. She also has such a cute name!

  • OMG! I thought of something else when she was asked what's F is for! I even watched it so many times to make sure it was really FROG! LOL!

  • me 2 , i was like aww.. wait what did the baby just say . lol i have the same problem with my niece have to watch what she says , hard to tell.

  • Holy cow, what a smarty! My daughter really has a lot of catching up to do with speaking!

  • she is a doll baby :) omh and so smart for a little 2 year old girl. g is for grandma...aww how cute, fireese is a vvery cute name too! (: and i love the --excuse me. lol.

  • adorable,polite,smart.

    Great job (:

  • i love these videos im no where near the point of having kids but my friend is having one soon and i'm so showing her this signing stuff...

also the cutest thing ever when she burps and excuses herself!!!!

i cannot stand ill-mannered children you've got such a pleasant baby... xx

  • wow, she is really smart for her age

  • We did this with our little girl. When she started to talk it wa followed quickly by full sentences and at the age of six she now has a better grasp of languages then others of her age. It truly is one of the best things you can do for your children

  • OMG, not only beautiful and smart, but very polite. Doing a great job Mom.

  • OMGGGGG i do not mean to be one of those..youtubers, you know the kind... but i just LOLED myself like crazy. when "F is for......" came up, I had to sneeze so bad, and when she said frog, i sneezed LOUD and I SWORE she said F*%& because I was almost expecting it. you never know with some videos out there. being an only child, I guess I still know how to amuse myself. lol. glad she didn't really say F***. =)

  • absolutely precious!!! what a bright child!

  • She is so cute, especially when she sad "excuse me". she's adorable and very smart. :)

  • very smart- I know you are very proud of her

  • v for MTV :D

    she's adorable.

    & a little princess!!

you have a great daughter (:

  • Awe!!! What a gem she is. Very awesome videos.

  • Fireese is adorable. She can spell even before she turned 2. :) Wow, that's quite amazing...

  • @ 2:31 i had that book when i was little!

she's cute AND smart = excellent combination

  • she is absolutely amaaaaazing!

just an absolute adorable darling cutie sweetie.

  • I can imagine involving motor functions would help learning as it would recruit more areas of the brain to focus on the same concept.

  • I love how she said "A Bunny!!"

    Shes soo adorable!

  • she's cute and they are so smart at that age all kids it just needs mommy to guide them.. I remember my kids when that age and my youngest learn 3 languages, English because we spoke English and Spanish because we live in Spain and German because their grandparents are German. In the beginning I thought the kids will have difficulty but a child brain is like a sponge they just absorb everything they hear, see and learn.

  • Again, amazing! Fireese is a beautiful child, I hope she grows to be a phenomonal lady. Moreover, I hope she doesn't learn too much in a short period of time, that may tire her, but I believe the mom will be able to control the speed and time required for her to learn. Nonetheless, this continues to amaze me, maybe one day when I have a child of my own, I'd really like to try.

  • I too signed with my child since 4 months and NEVER has it delayed his speech, he's been very verbal beginning @ 9months, I could see how people could believe this theory if they believe that it is used in place of speaking but you are encouraging speak by empasizing words.

  • v for tv haha. cute

  • She's actually saying 'auntie V'

    :-)

  • 2:57 is so adoriable she is very polite for a two year old

  • Your daughter is adorable and has such a craving to learn since you teach her so much. I hope I can be half as good a mom as you are. You two are so lucky to have each other!

  • in ireland they teach you irish(native language) when u start school at 3,4,5

  • i love it when she burped and she said excuse me ;) so cuteee !

  • whatta lovely kid =D

  • People do not understand how amazing a child's brain is. As long as the PARENTS speak when they say the sign the children will as well. A friend of mine speaks FOUR languages fluently. All learned while he was an infant. His dad is Japanese, mother is Russian, and they had a Spanish maid. he picked up all four languages! Just think of ASL as another language you can teach your children. You can even make your OWN signs! GREAT VIDEO!

  • Fireese is an exceptional young lady. Laura, your decision to incorporate signing into her language enrichment as she grows (grew) allowed her natural skills to become apparent much sooner. Very few 2-year olds can form compound sentences and keep personal pronouns straight (I/she vs me/her).

  • I agree that signing wld delay speech! But, there is a difference betwwen memory and learning. Remembering that the letters bl u e spells blue vs "understanding WHY those letters spell blue" Please comment.

  • Unfortunately many people think that signing can delay speech even though alll of the studies show that it can enhance language. If you look at my video of Fireese at 2.5 years, reading, you can clearly see she has an understanding of why the letters spell out a word. You can hear her sounding out the letters. She also has the concept of the silent 'e' on the end and when two letter are together the first says it's name and 2nd is silent.

  • same as being bilingual makes learning further languages easier i can't see how people would even come up with that assumption !! its amazing that she can read sheis obviously of above average intelegence perhaps you should move her on to ASL it would be handy (pardon the pun) should she later decide to become a teacher having ASL is always beneficial !!

  • @Aaziah

before you knock this two year old, perhaps you should learn how to be literate. "wld" "betwwen"

  • she is so cute

  • my 3 yr old son loves watching her!

  • such a smart and beautiful little girl ! =)

  • cant wait to show my wife this we are having a little girl ourselves we like the name jaq after my little sister

  • wow i lov this kid

  • this is very cute.

my son does a combo of signing and verbal. he's 15 months with ~35 words and does two word sentences. it's really silly to think that sign would delay speech.

  • Oh my god...so cute and smart

  • shes freaaaakiing the cutest thiing eveerrrr (:

  • WOW, I am so impressed! Bravo Mother!

  • so cutee!!!! congratulations!! she is so smart!

  • woooowah congratulations you have a super smart child! good teaching i guess! wow

  • She's adorable! And so smart :)

  • my baby sis is 2 years and 6 months can you still teach them sign language

  • Yes! signing is great for all ages!

  • ok i'll have a try and i might learn it aswell because it looks really good

  • wow i can't believe she can count at that age aswell it has shocked me how clever she is and she is also a very pretty little girl

  • im sure this is really fast develpent, reading at 2?? thats n the norm isit?? wot ever ur doin or have done its worked amazingly

  • Congrats for having such a wonderful girl. She is going to be so smart when she gets older.

  • so much of an angel love her

  • i liked the way she is learning to form and read words. i think that is in another video...because she knows really how to pronounce the letter and how it sounds.. i am amazed!

:) cant get over it hehehhe.. im trying to watch all the video before i go to sleep :D

  • so bright and intelligent. she loves educational games.. you've very blessed with that very smarl little princess. i hope she does not miss playing ordinary kiddie games.

  • we play both so she doesn't miss out on anything :-) She is really into dress-up right now so the majority of our play is princess :-)

  • I'm interested in whether little Fireese is visiting a Kindergarten as we call it in German (how do you call? nursery school?) I mean: is she at home with you or does she get in contact with other children a few hours every day?

  • We just recently put her in preschool. The whole time I've been with her we've been going to playgroups and fun classes like gym, dance, swimming etc. I don't think a young child needs to be in a drop off program to be socialized as long as you take them places where they have the opportunity to play and interact with other kids. She's only three and a half and will be starting school in September.

  • Thank you for your soon reply. :-)

I was just wondering how your family-day or -week is arranged (sorry for my bad English!).

Oh, and I don't quiet understand what "drop-of-program" means, but it sounds a bit negative (true?) and that was not what I tried to say. Because in our Kindergarten (my sons are aged 3 and 5) theres is no 'program' or anything where children are forced to.

  • Its just the other way around: Kindergarten-Teachers follow the interests of the children and make offers that fit in their actual situation. Of course you're right:Very little children don't need any "program"!ANd later they should be involved in planning it.

You know, if I had the possibility staying at home with my sons I would have done it. But I couldn't and so they went to a Tagesmutter at first (aged 8 months) and than aged 2 years to a Kindergarten (which is not some kind of school)

  • Drop-off is just another term for preschool or an organized teacher ran program, it's not a negative term at all :-) Even though it sounds negative. Not all parents can stay at home with their children and if you can find a great preschool/daycare/kindergarten then that is great. My friends son is in a wonderful daycare that she loves and he is doing great there!

  • God blezz you alwys im your fans here in tokyo japan..

  • thats awesome...

  • Such a delightful little girl. You're doing a great job, Mom.

  • great job mom

u are a wonderfull teacher and

ur girls is a wonderfull and yea cute hahah studiant. good

  • aww cutie

  • aww, shes just too cute.

when shes trying to say purple, its like 'poo-pooh.'

    naw :-)

  • i have herd that talking to your baby in baby talk is not so good for babies, because they start to learn to talk in baby talk instead of english. did you speak to her in baby talk? or do you even think it matters?

  • I agree, we never talked to her in baby talk. We would change the tones of our voices to be light and excited but would always use proper words.

  • she is very smart for a two year old. you are very lucky to have such a cute child.

  • That was so cute when she said "scuse me" at 3:00 when she burped lol She is so smart and well spoken for a two year old!

  • She is sooooo cute and very talented....!!!!

  • Wow, she know so much :O I know this kid that's 1½. He dosen't speak at all.. o.O But that kids mom dosen't teach him words and stuff what I've seen or heard. I'm gonna pay so much attention to my kids when I get mine :D

  • she´s really really patient!! lovely kid.

  • I swear she's gonna be the smartest in her class and everything else!!

  • Dabaluw! Soooooooooooooooo CUTE

  • Your daughter is beautiful, intelligent, good-natured, patient and persistent, like you. She is doing a lot of learning and is very good about it; the average two-year-old might have become restless halfway through this performance. Her evident sense of accomplishment in these tasks is probably the major motivating factor that keeps her going when the going gets tough. Your positive reinforcement is contributing to that. Good work.

  • She really is smart, I clicked your first video because i thought NO WAY! And i figured it was fake but after the first one i just kept looking for more. Fireese is very talented.

  • You are a fantastic and loving mother! It is wonderful to see you and your daughter spending time together bonding and learning. You are helping your daughter in so many ways. I admire and respect your way of parenting. I wish we had more mothers like you! God bless you!

  • wow, she is so smart! i really enjoyed watching her learn sign language. im only fifteen but i'll remember these lessons when i have a baby!

  • she is one smart two year old!!!! =D she is beautiful

  • O my goodness that is so GREAT!! She can talk, read, count and o sigh lange!! ( at 2 years old!!) you are probly a great mother!! I coulden`t do that at that age ( but i am only 11 )

  • Man, Kids are just amazing....

And we all can see, God has really blessed her..... and her family...

i won't be surprised if she turns out to be someone really famous someday or win a nobel prize...

Anyways, wishing y'all the best of luck

    take care

  • they learn the letters AND the signs at the same time! if children have this visual help, they can remember the letters and words better. it worked with me, although i was 5 then, but it worked :)

i will teach my children the same way, in a faaar future, but i will xD

  • when she signed for F, I thought she said the F-word omg she is soo cute. I hope my child will be as smart as her!

  • woah, she's really smart for her agee . :}

  • Wow, she is such a smart baby girl. VERY CUTE too!

  • this actually helps child language acquisition and creates a bond between the child and teh parents that lasts a life time.

  • she is so cute n smart!

  • I don't understand why people would even think signing would delay speech... The signing would be an addition to speech. It's not like your teaching sign language in the absence of speech.

  • wow shes soo smart

  • the baby is cute!

  • how old is Fireese now?

  • She'll be three and a half in May.

  • aww thats so cool!! she is very smart!!

  • She is soooooooooo cute ! Great video. Hi from Greece.

  • OMG she is amazing!! Do you wanna teach mine? LOL

  • SHE IS AS FAR AS SHE IS BECAUSE OF YOU.There is ALWAYS someone who is negative and wont see any good.I can hear ,see,FULLY UNDERSTAND ALL HER WORDS. GEEZ MAYBE WE SHOULD START HAVING PARENTING CLASSES OR HUMAN BEHAVIOR,THIS WAY WE WILL HAVE HAPPY SMART CHILDREN

  • im amazed at this ... im planning to use this on my children when they come along ... im speechless its amazing! :D

  • Your daughter is amazing and you are a great teacher. I love watching your videos and I'm hoping I can help my speech delayed 2-year-old to learn sign by watching you and your daughter. He knows more, milk, and is learning kitty. I know they use sign language to help speech delayed children. Keep up the great work!

  • Thank you :-)

Please feel free to email me if you are looking for more online ASL resources. I can send you a few links.

  • i cant belive it , its ammaizing, my boy is 22 months now and he is only saying mama baba ,bo (for water) he even cant say his brothers names correctly ,am i in a problem? is there any thing i can do ? ur the expert ,thanks i m a stying hom mom from egypt

  • I wouldn't worry too much as all children develop differently. Some children don't talk until later, that's why it's great to sign with children because when they do start talking they will have a larger vocabulary because they've used language all that time. I had children in my class at 18 months who weren't talking yet either. I'd consult a speech pathologist if you are concerned.

  • she's adorable. my parents are deaf lol :]

  • Your a smart parent

  • That is so amazing, I'm so glad there are parents out there like you teaching their kids sign language, it makes the world so much more accesible. Your daughter is absolutely adorable, and is clearly very very smart :)

  • Okay, I have watched all your videos and I am so amazed at her ability! I was just curious, was it fresturating and hard to teach her the signs? And how did you go about teaching her the signs? I'm really interested in the process!

  • Thanks :-)

No, it wasn't hard at all! I would just teach her signs for specific words that were useful as we went along. Once she got older she picked them up really fast. I introduced signing to her through play and reading books. We never had a 'learning' time where I was trying to 'teach' her. I just incorporated the signs into our daily routine and made it fun for her :-)

  • omg!this cute little girl is so smart!amazing! :)

  • How old is Fireese now? that's such a unique name I love it

  • wow she is amazingly smart, you are a great mother

  • She is so smart. And this is kool because your not asking her the alphabet in order so she is very smart. when she said frog i thought she said **** lol but i realized it was frog :)

  • This is so great! My boyfriend is deaf and some day when we have children we are going to teach them ASL..it is such a great thing to know!! That was wonderful of you to teach her such a unique language!!! :)

  • I saw one of your videos this morning and I just find it so amazing.

    from Christine (Indiana)

  • Your daughter is so smart and beautiful! She is going to be top in her class. That's so awesome you taught your baby sign language. When did you start teaching her? I want to do that when I have kids! You are an amazing mom!

  • Thank you :-)

I started teaching her when she was four months old.

  • she is so intellegent

  • Aw, she's so adorable, not to mention smart! A lot of the time, when you see kids like this, it's just memorization and regurgitation, but it looks like she actually understands the concepts at work, which is sort of amazing.

  • Awesome! she is totally adorable and so smart! And obviously loves her Mommie!

    All the best.. B. Maddox

  • oohh, FROG.

  • yes, FROG. Just like when a kid says truck it doesn't always sound like truck.

  • aww this is too cute...but seriously wen u asked her wat f is i could of sworn she said something else that was not frog...lol

  • she's AMAZING .

  • She's adorable!

  • Bless her!, What an amazing little girl. She really will have a bright future.

  • i see a bright future for little fireese =)

  • in my opinion her vocab is a lot more clear than a lot of other children her age. i also believe that sign language helps to improve vocab and pronunciation of words

  • so proud of you....i wear two hearing aids and have thought about working with families and their children and teaching sign...its soo wonderful..keep up the good work

  • you are amazing! You inspired me to teach my son! Thank you for video.

  • I am expecting a baby, currently 5 months pregnant, and this cute little girl has definitely inspired me to teach my baby sign language. I can't believe how smart she is! I hope my baby does just as well.

  • Reminds me of babysitting my cousin when he wsa just over a year old, he was yelling "bob", I told him not to yell, as I couldn't understand what he was saying, when he calmed down I asked him to point to what he wanted as I carried him through the house, he took me into the kitchen and pointed at he fridge, on opening it he pointed at the lower shelf, a few items removed and rejected the youghurts came out, with Bob the builder on the front. This whole thing makes so so much sense.

  • That is AMAZING for a two-year old, sign language is definitely going in my syllabus when I'm a mother-to-be! <3

  • smart girl and cute

  • She is so smart. How cute is she! ♥

  • As a mother you did reallly good, hope the rest of you mothers to learn from this mother and spend more time with your kids.

  • is she deaf, she is so cute!?

  • Thanks :-) No, she's hearing.

  • my girl is two and she calls me sarah :/ lol

  • She is very well educated on things I almost never hear a 2 year old say, or comprehend. Sign language enhances in my book.

  • shes really good.

i am trying 2 learn and she knows way more then i do

what do you recomend for me to learnmore and faster?

  • Thanks :-)

Are you taking a course, that's the best way to learn. You can also search ASL videos on you tube, there are some good ones that may help you learn.

  • when she was doing f i thought she said somethin besides frog the 1st time i heard it whoa she can read that's one smart 2 year old, she is very cute and smart

  • she is so smart and cute little girl

  • Aw 'Excuse me' haha! So clever and adorable! Well done mum (:

  • she is very smart and her mom is doing a good job at teaching her and i think teaching a baby singh language would help when a child starts to talk because a baby knows what he or she wants long befor they can talk so if a child knows singh language then that would cut down on the child becomeing mad

  • i LOVE your daughter! she is to amazing and so smart. is she still signing today because i see that this was posted almost a year ago?

  • Yes, we still sign with her! She is almost three and loves signing still :-)
