We hadda BEG RA to play this one, Own Yer Own was on the set list but an acapella version of it swayed it and this is maybe the last time they played this one....a crying fekin' SHAME!
I remember the days when sneaking a spliff at a gig was standard procedure. Weed can be really bad for you, but there is nothing like the experience of seeing a fantastic band with your friends and sharing a decent joint.

Happiest moments of my life were spent doing what the guys behind you got busted for. Whatever happened to tolerance?
By the way I kind of found myself wishing McCabe would shuddup and let the Rhythm section kick it on their own for a minute. Heresy.
Went to see them 3 times in the 90's, each time we chanted the name of this song (and Slide Away). Never happened. Only got Jones teasing us once with the intro of Slide Away. This song in particular had a kind of holiness to it, something you could only experience live via No Come Down or Voyager 1. Now look at them. Sell -outs. Ashcroft is clearly just going through the motions. McCabe wanted to keep it real but it caught up with him in the end too. Sad.
oh man, so glad i was there that nite and not the second nite for when they played "man called sun" instead. i bet you could hear people talking over "man called sun" too. blech.
There were many people yelling out for Gravity Grave to be played....glad they delivered...only wish they played Star Sail, Slide Away, and Blue, and a few others...that would have made it perfect....great to see The Verve back again!!
My brother was the guy who yelled out the request for this. Ever since I heard the live version on No Come Down, I've wanted to see this live. It didn't disappoint! Best show EVER!

a man a called sun is a fantastic song, but I honestly can't stand hearing them play it live. They slow it down too damn much.
iamlove6767 3 years ago
yeah i have to agree with you on that too. its weird how they play weeping willow really fast now and then play man called sun really really slow.
