Your "lag" is caused by your hardware having trouble processing, compiling, and rendering data. I recommend you try to end any executables that are not necessary or take up to much RAM. I suggest that you also try updating drivers or just get new hardware if it is more than 4 or more years old
There should be a expansion for Cliffs of Dover where you can play in the Pacificwar. I like it in IL2 1946 to fly with a Mitsubishi A6M over the big Pacific with some Wingman to search for Allied Warships.

@Martok42: The very first IL-2 that came out in 2001 was also severely limited at start in terms of flyable aircraft. The devs did release a few patches which also introduced a number of new aircraft (FW190, Stuka, ...) but really it took quite a bit of time to get where we are now.

THIS IS A FLIGHT SIM....not those arcade flight games they brought out for console. Think flight simulator if you have no idea what im on about. I love the Il2 Serious its a shame to see so many complaints about the required specs to run this game with good gfx. This game requires space age technology to play so don't be surprised. I have a quadcore AMD Phenom II X4 965, 8GB memory, and a 5870. Unplayable on "High" settings with No xAA at 1920x1080. Just fricking stupid. To get the graphic detail at 1:07 would require the absolute best system available now, easily 2500+ dollar PC.

well there was one in 1946. I used it because the way they introduced you to the controls was pretty horrible. A long ass vid whereyou ouldnt go back if you missed something, and couldn't try th moves yourself. I hope this will have a better tutorial

Listen here Euro-fags modding a game isn't cheating one bit. It helps extend the life of a video game for years to come. Look at Duke Nukem 3D for example people today still play that game after 14 years because of mods. Another example is Doom 3 a game that originally shipped without coop but with the help of mods you can now do 4 player coop on PC. Mods have also helped to make the first two S.T.A.L.K.E.R games playable by eliminating bugs and crashes.

I use the Ultra pack mod which basically takes 1946 and makes it a whole hell of a lot better by adding more planes, maps, improves graphics and battle a.i., and generally just aes the game more stable. @PaulClaireLayla except it is a full scale map and i believe cannons is only 2/3's scale... I also believe they have every town and building in this new map. So its a little more complex than cannon's channel map.

OMG I don't know if some of this was taken from wings of prey but there is some footage of gunner on a bomber, I can't wait for this game to come out!!! @akulax2 I dont know if you know, but IL-2 Sturmovik is on PC since I dont know, 2004? And the multiplayer is great, as well as the mission editing, and you always were able to get to the gunner position on bombers lol maybe you started playing IL-2 on the Birds of Prey, but if you do, you missed a LOT more (and allow me to say MUCH BETTER) IL-2, as a one of the best ww2 flight sims out there.
@pedroca2424 I know of the other releases and they did start from 2001 and you are right wings of prey is the one that I have and it has terrible support for multiplayer though its visually more impressive based on what I've seen form videos and the game that i played. I wouldn't be surprised if the one you are talking bout has more players. Which version do you have? I've also seen a few forums with skin updates, are there more planes and plane mods in the one you have? I would love to try it
@akulax2 Ive been playing IL-2 since the Forgotten Battles, but the one I played the most (and has the most servers nowadays) is the IL-2 1946... tons of planes, editable missions, great controls, top notch simulation... the only thing that isnt all that great is the graphics, but I dont really mind much about them.
If you have a PC, a nice joystick and love simulators, get this new IL-2 (CliffsofDover) and youll see why IL-2 Sturmovik is so famous among us sim lovers :) BoP is bs compared to
@pedroca2424 I bought X52 for wing's of prey but I didn't find it as enjoyable for some reason. Half the time or should i say most of the time plane would go into stall and most planes especially p51 would be over torqued by the motor. I had to always use WEP in order for plane to stay normal, so I returned controller. I don't know why you didn't enjoy wop but I'm sure you have your reasons. I Love it quite a lot but I will def get into 1946 and the new one, thank you for advice I appreciate it
Looks good. If it's even half as good in 2011 as the original was in it's time it will be awesome. Hopefully it will have some sort of dynamic campaign because flying static missions over and over get boring fast.

@Zelectec Ubisoft is just a publisher. it is 1C who made the game. You will miss out on a good one. these are the same guys thats behind il2 sturmovik. I got an idea, first you download it, if you like then buy it ;) its what I do.
Even if this would simply be IL-2 with improved graphics and set in Battle of Britain, it would still be the game of the year. As it's most likely going to be far more than that - knowing Maddox for the perfectionist he is- it has a good chance of being game of the decade.
My computer's going to hate me when this comes out.. Sure, it's happy with 1946 and BoP. But this new and hopefully less dissapointing release looks too damn pretty! Either way, certainly CAN'T WAIT!!!

@tntvacation if you have seen come of the game promos in a russian game convention it shows the game play from 1comp << the maker and even that computer was lagging when players with diving or at speed ..the Fps dropped quick
@tntvacation I use to play Fighter ace when IL-2 was out and both were the same but diffrent had they combined there games it would of been #1 sim around for years ..even out doing storm of war ..Fighter ace i been told had way better real feel to flying ..stall speeds, drag and climb rates, The feel of a damged plane shakes and jumps You knew what you were flying Vs what your enemys could and couldn't do and you could have 300 or more in a room ..shooting CPU planes gets boring quick

Lol , you sir fail in every possible way, this is created on a brand new engine with insanely improved DM,FM,Details,Sounds etc, if you figure this looks like the orginal IL2 you need to have your eyes check out, and if your refering to BOP,WOP version , then well they're nothing but console arcade flyers with pretty graphics and no depth at all.
If you're reffering to 3rd party high res textures for the original , they still dont even come close or improve anything engine related.

@Tiberiotertio lol wut. When did I mention UFOs? I use the Ultra pack mod which basically takes 1946 and makes it a whole hell of a lot better by adding more planes, maps, improves graphics and battle a.i., and generally just aes the game more stable. You know, modding doesn't mean cheating like it does on CoD or whatever you play. Go cry somewhere else and let me make my games better.

Trailers often outdo the actual gameplay. Hope they have more AI radio chatter and better sounds in MP for immersion. IL2 1946 is very "quiet" in MP.

@PaulClaireLayla except it is a full scale map and i believe cannons is only 2/3's scale... I also believe they have every town and building in this new map. So its a little more complex than cannon's channel map.

@UNpilot15 Love it. My favorite plane is the Hurricane. Strong airframe, agile, can be repaired in the feild and a very stable gun platform.

@Giselle76502 My fav plane is the Spitfire. In Birds of Prey, the P-51 seemed rather cumbersome compared to the Spit. And you gotta dig the cannons on the IX

OMG I don't know if some of this was taken from wings of prey but there is some footage of gunner on a bomber, I can't wait for this game to come out!!! I'm loving Il2 wings of prey, best flying game ever!!! I even wanted to write a letter to them few days ago to ask news on new game and I just found out about this release!!! One thing they need to work on is multiplayer support, because as it is its terrible! They need to market the game and release plane editor for fans to make planes

@akulax2 I dont know if you know, but IL-2 Sturmovik is on PC since I dont know, 2004? And the multiplayer is great, as well as the mission editing, and you always were able to get to the gunner position on bombers lol maybe you started playing IL-2 on the Birds of Prey, but if you do, you missed a LOT more (and allow me to say MUCH BETTER) IL-2, as a one of the best ww2 flight sims out there.

@pedroca2424 I know of the other releases and they did start from 2001 and you are right wings of prey is the one that I have and it has terrible support for multiplayer though its visually more impressive based on what I've seen form videos and the game that i played. I wouldn't be surprised if the one you are talking bout has more players. Which version do you have? I've also seen a few forums with skin updates, are there more planes and plane mods in the one you have? I would love to try it

@akulax2 Ive been playing IL-2 since the Forgotten Battles, but the one I played the most (and has the most servers nowadays) is the IL-2 1946... tons of planes, editable missions, great controls, top notch simulation... the only thing that isnt all that great is the graphics, but I dont really mind much about them.
If you have a PC, a nice joystick and love simulators, get this new IL-2 (CliffsofDover) and youll see why IL-2 Sturmovik is so famous among us sim lovers :) BoP is bs compared to

@pedroca2424 I bought X52 for wing's of prey but I didn't find it as enjoyable for some reason. Half the time or should i say most of the time plane would go into stall and most planes especially p51 would be over torqued by the motor. I had to always use WEP in order for plane to stay normal, so I returned controller. I don't know why you didn't enjoy wop but I'm sure you have your reasons. I Love it quite a lot but I will def get into 1946 and the new one, thank you for advice I appreciate it

Looks good. If it's even half as good in 2011 as the original was in it's time it will be awesome. Hopefully it will have some sort of dynamic campaign because flying static missions over and over get boring fast.

Even if this would simply be IL-2 with improved graphics and set in Battle of Britain, it would still be the game of the year. As it's most likely going to be far more than that - knowing Maddox for the perfectionist he is- it has a good chance of being game of the decade.

@tntvacation if you have seen come of the game promos in a russian game convention it shows the game play from 1comp << the maker and even that computer was lagging when players with diving or at speed ..the Fps dropped quick

@tntvacation I use to play Fighter ace when IL-2 was out and both were the same but diffrent had they combined there games it would of been #1 sim around for years ..even out doing storm of war ..Fighter ace i been told had way better real feel to flying ..stall speeds, drag and climb rates, The feel of a damged plane shakes and jumps You knew what you were flying Vs what your enemys could and couldn't do and you could have 300 or more in a room ..shooting CPU planes gets boring quick

Lol , you sir fail in every possible way, this is created on a brand new engine with insanely improved DM,FM,Details,Sounds etc, if you figure this looks like the orginal IL2 you need to have your eyes check out, and if your refering to BOP,WOP version , then well they're nothing but console arcade flyers with pretty graphics and no depth at all.
If you're reffering to 3rd party high res textures for the original , they still dont even come close or improve anything engine related.
