I can't wait till skyfall!!!!! Casino royale is one of my fav movies, QS was ok but not great, skyfall has a great cast and director so it should hopefully be awesome!!!
It's as if they decided to make Bond drab as hell when they hired Brosnan. Is Dench a good M? i think it's one of most joyless characters I've ever seen. Horrible PC decision. By the way, there's a REAL Bond girl in the last seconds of this segment. O la la...
@guitarreilly martin campbell directed both casino royale and goldeneye, two awesome movies. But I doubt he will do another one since he already made two of the very best
@58fenix I know that there are directors that have directed many bond movies but Martin Cambell have stated that he has no desire to do another bond movie
@58fenix I dont remember exactly where he said it. But i rememer he said that he only did casino royale because it was new take on the character, So thats why I doubt he will do another. why would he? he has already made to of the very best, It can only go one way and he knows that
@heavytom89 "Martin campbell directed both casino royale and goldeneye, two awesome movies"
Curiously they were both a new beginning (GE) and a reboot (CR). They both feel like some clever care had been taken and made to be good movies as opposed to just good Bond Movies.
Casino Royale is in my view (to a kill LOL) the perfect Bond film and truely feels correct in any detail. One of the best intros ever and a brillent theme song.
Shame about QS but had hell of a lot to live up to.
All of the actors to play Bond have done great in my opinion. But they are all different. I don't think it would be very interesting if they all just mimicked each other. I enjoy seeing each actor's unique style and approach to James Bond.
That's a smart observation. British Steve McQueen. Steve McQueen was quintessentially and naturally masculine. Both men seem driven, Craig seems more accessible in person but in the role of James Bond he wisely downplays that aspect of his charisma. Bond needs to maintain a certain level of mysteriousness and being inaccessible (to all but Vesper - and Fate/Fleming punished him for that) is a key ingredient to maintain that quality.
I was totally the person they were talking about...I loved Brosnan's character. And I thought that there was No Way anyone else could live up to him...I thought he was the ultamate gentleman. And when they announced Daniel Craig as the next Bond, I was like That guy from Tomb Raider, what the hell are they thinking. But they are totally right, he added so much to the character that now I am a Daniel Craig fan. He's a gentleman and can kick everyone's ass better than the previous Bonds.
The opening credit sequence for Casino Royal was/is IMO the best credit sequence to any film ever made. I saw it in the theatre and I was mesmerized speechless. I couldn't believe how goddamn good that film was. Timothy Dalton, Connery, and Craig are by far the best Bonds. Moore just pissed me off with the tongue in cheek bs.
@58fenix You make a valid point though, and I agree that change and variation is necessary to keep things fresh; I just hope future post-Craig films don't forget/ignore some of the things that made the whole franchise popular in the first place.
And I appreciate you taking the time to respond properly and not debasing this to a typical childish Youtube swearing-match.
@58fenix Oh I do understand and appreciate the different portrayals of Bond, and I'm aware that the films have frequently strayed from the books, I'm just saying that the current interpretation of the character is not the kind I prefer.
When I watch Bond, I like to see a cold-hearted, smug bastard womanizing, killing and quipping his way around the world, not thinking "oh look, he has emotions just like me".
My problem with the Bond films (and many other non-Bond films) nowadays is that all the fun is missing; it seams everyone is trying to make things gritty and realistic, but the old Bond films were full of humour, ridiculous pseudo-science (e.g. Goldfinger's death by paint) and other laughable quirks that just made them more entertaining.
Since it's inception, naysayers have always complained about Bond's lack of realism; if it's realism you want, stare out the fucking window.
@58fenix Would you care to divulge what a "REAL FAN" is?
When I was younger I watched a Bond film almost every single night for several years, I know them all off by heart and I've read the books. Is that not enough?
To be honest I really don't care. This is simply a matter of taste and we could argue till the sun expires and still not come to a conclusion.
All I'm saying is that after Craig I would like to see a bit more fun and adventure, is that such a crime?!
For me Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery, but I like Roger Moore also. I can't bare the other three... Brosnan being my least favourite.
I think Q.O.S was about closure, but that's just me. Everyone has their opinions. It had flaws that made it more like an action film than a Bond film. I hope in Bond 23, either Q or Moneypenny will make an appearence.
the error they also made is it was supposed to be a two part film....why not keep martin campbell and then the films would have felt correct. its like one man writing half a book and someone else writing the second half.....it just dosent work. QOS is fast paced and v fast camera work/editing so dosent feel like a second part. POOR. CASNIO ROYALE WAS GREAT!
Casino Royale was great, I think Quantum of Solace's downfall was that it was too focused on being an action movie and it didn't play to Craig's strengths, which is his charisma, like Dalton before him. Still i think that it isn't nearly as bad as my least favorite Bond film Live and Let Die.
@tcvicesquad I think that for Bond either the story has to be believable or good enough to make one suspend their disbelief (i.e. Moonraker). Live and Let Die doesn't really have either in my opinion, the biggest reason being Jane Seymour playing a Tarot reader, that's just not realistic at all. I also thought it didn't really cater to Moore's strengths as playing Bond as the suave detective.
casino royale was brilliant quantum of solace... was just bad. It was all over the place. I didnt have a fucking clue what was going on in that film. Dont let that retard direct another Bond movie.
@Brady2k10 Alot of pretentious art cunts will tell you that you're wrong because you didn't "get it". There's absolutely nothing to get, it's a piece of shit.
@tcvicesquad Correct on all counts. The only reason I bought Casino Royale was it was $3 used. For what it's worth, I hated that Vesper girl. We saw Q.O.S. once at the theater, and that was enough. I look it up on imdb and movie pooper to see if anyone has updated the information so it makes sense.
My favorite so far is Daniel Craig he has the things that Bond needed agression, passion, strength and he also had to have some weak points so it makes him look human to the audience
Ian Fleming came up with the Character Name James Bond when he was in his home "Goldeneye" and he was reading a book called "Birds of the west Indies" and the Author turned out to be "James Bond"!!! Thanks Ian Fleming what a great Author you Where!!!
Brosnan's got no personality no charm no charisma. However, it could have been that maybe he had potential to be great but the scripts wouldn't allow it.
thats sad that was last time that people saw Ian Flemming for the last time in 64 because that was the year he died and I think that was like his last interview before his death I think Ian Flemming is greatest autor of all time

@JuIsTheLaw It's cool man I'm not here to attack anyone.Unless you
what to argue or start yelling at people for no good reason. That's not
my style. As for what you said about craig. That's exactly what craig's
bond is,a ruthless, cold blooded killer with no emotions.A big time
womenizier.I know what your saying I think what your trying to say
here is were is the charm of bond at?It's up to the writers to decide
that for bond.I do agree we need to see more of that in bond 23.
58fenix 10 months ago
@JuIsTheLaw If you look at all the people that have played bond connery
moore brosnan.Look at them all, there not the same they all play bond
differently. But still have that side to bond that is cool, which means a threat
and charm.Including craig,The whole point to Casino Royale is to get closer
to the books. That's why they made it that way,was to show you what fleming
was trying to say in the beggining for bond.I find that interesting because they've
never done that before.

@JuIsTheLaw You will see it in bond 23!Check it out,What makes
a real bond fan is someone that understand's what is going on and
know's how each person potrays how bond will be played.Physically
and personally.Your problem is you seem not to understand that the
last two bond films are not suppose to have all the stuff we see in the
bond films we seen before. There is a reason for it and there is a reason
why craig plays with a more darker approach. You have a lot to learn my
friend.
