I must say though, I'll never enjoy the random outbreaking of songs in most of the indian movies that I have seen, for instance loved 3 idiots but hated the songs in it, to me they just seem to be unnecessary and somewhat abrasive breaks from the actual movie and make it seem less realistic and relate-able for the most part. Anyway, that's just my opinion, not trying to irritate other people who enjoy those songs.

For Bollywood, Hindi is not as widely spoken, but the viewer base is still larger, and thats where greatness of Bollywood shows up. Hollywood is only about technology, violence and skin show. Bollywood gives all sort of emotions and also adds some songs to it. So better not compare both the industries and over praise or under estimate either of them.
