Unless there is actual documentation of one motor being better or shit compared to the others, in my experience, all 3 American diesels are gods. Duramax being a GM/Isuzu joint production is old news. Most people already know it. Or I tend to do too much research. Provide some proof of a 48RE tranny walking all over an Allison if they can sprout legs and actually do so.
And yes IH makes more than just the engines for ford. Our DT466,now called the maxxforce dt, is the most widely used engine in the world, and we have a 13 liter in class 8 trucks and next year we will have a 15 liter that is-unfortunately-based off the CAT C-15.
I am so sick of people bragging about how Cummins are used in buses and semi's. They are used because they just have been used for years and work. No reason to throw a Duramax or Powerstroke in when the Cummins does the job. Don't fix something that isn't broken. Just about EVERY manufacturer has made fantastic motors and pieces of shit. I love the Chevy 350, but the old GM 4 bangers and 60* V6 motors sucked ass. The BMW straight six and Nissan VQ V6 are divine. Honda has made some great 4 bangers, especially in bikes.

look at everyone squabbling like some damn school girls! all engines are good engines, they have their strengths and flaws. if one was sooooo awesome then they wouldnt fuckin make it anymore cuz the company would be out of business. thats how the auto industry works. back in the 80's GM had "planned obsolecence" which gave parts a timeline of when they would go bad! duramax is good, powerstroke is good, cummins is good. cummins are just easy and cheap to modify, simply put.

Stock for stock all 3 diesels are for the most part similar in power. And to mymitherisnohot, I disagree on Ford being shit from 2003 on. My grandfather is a Ford fan and was UAW worker for 3 decades. Yet my father raised me a Chevy man. Unless there is actual documentation of one motor being better or shit compared to the others, in my experience, all 3 American diesels are gods. And to kill the Dodge trannies are shit rumor, its because Dodge owners try to force too much power out a stock tra.

And a built dodge 48RE trans will walk all over an allison, lots of big power guys use them

And yes IH makes more than just the engines for ford. Our DT466,now called the maxxforce dt, is the most widely used engine in the world, and we have a 13 liter in class 8 trucks and next year we will have a 15 liter that is-unfortunately-based off the CAT C-15.

No reason to throw a Duramax or Powerstroke in when the Cummins does the job. Don't fix something that isn't broken.
