  • The music used in the newscast is "Turn to News" by Frank Gari. Actually, Frank Gari licensed the music package to individual TV stations and the overall rights to the package were retained by Gari.

  • This is Ten News at Five Brisbane with Bill McDonald, Georgina Lewis and the entire ten News Team in Queensland.

  • That music, Frank Gari's "Turn to News" was used first by WKYC TV 3 Cleveland between 1984 and 1986, when it was still an NBC O&O station.

  • Also used for KFSN-TV in Fresno, CA

  • Mike Higgins went on to do lotteries on Channel 7 in the 1990s didn't he? Listen to his dialogue at 0:28... hehehe

  • "This is Eyewitness News across South-East Queensland..."

Am I correct in guessing that no regional Qld stations took TVQ news in the 80's? BTQ & QTQ news were going out to across the state but no TVQ?

  • I guess it could refer to the general broadcast area (South East Qld), but as far as I know, TV0 news didn't go across the state.

  • I believe that TVO news was relayed to DDQ Toowoomba soon after Darling Downs TV bought TVO and continued up until aggregation.

  • I wonder if you actually have the story concerning the actual sale? Considering this was the night that, Darling Downs Television's rocky (mind the pun) road toward aggregation (and QTV's aggrevation) began...

  • Not to mention the beginning of the end of TVO as a broadcast identity and the extension of the Network Ten brand to Brisbane.

  • I wonder when did Kay McGrath leave TVQ? Because in some old footage which was taken off Youtube Ron or Rob Readdings was reading TVQ's news at Expo 88.

  • Kay left at the end of 1987 (as did Mike Higgins)and then started at ATN as newsreader for TVAM in 1988. She then transferred to BTQ in January 1989.

  • Also, how long did it take Qintex to actually sell TVQ after buying the east coast Seven Network (i.e BTQ-7)?

  • Far out, how young does Kay McGrath look!

  • it was only a couple of months IIRC. I think Skase bought the Sevens in around July '87, and sold TVQ in about September or October '87.

  • STALKER!

  • SOoooooo Ron Burgundy. This reminds me too much of Anchor Man

  • The music and the look is just a bit too Miami Vice for mine... given what was going on in Brisvegas at the time (as the lead story would attest), it's kind of fitting.

  • go Bonj! yep, it's Paul Bongiorno there... Ten's chief political correspondent
