Hi, Great to see this video from 1993- The year we got married. We were there (even though I was a 'blow in'!)Brilliant night, sad to see some who have since departed- they where lovely people.Betty + Paul.
I bet, if i really analysed this video you wud probably see members of my family about lol I'm from near Garrison not there anymore but I come back from time to time.... thanks for this I cant remember much stuff this far back
It would be great to see them!! I'm 28 now do you know roughly how long ago this dance took place?? I was probably only a twinkle in my parents eye at that stage or maybe not......
What a wonderful video - so lovely to see so many familiar faces and many who have since departed....I remember that night very well - we had a lot of fun! Monica & Eugene (Mom & Dad) look great chilling out along the wall. Garrison was a great place to grow up.
Thank you. Hopefully the video captures some of that ethos respectfully. It was wonderful with a sense of community that I have never encountered anywhere in the world. I suppose no-one really knew how well they had it. I have a few more videos and may slip them in from time to time
I posted a comment on this video this morning but i dont see it now.
To see through this window of the past are few and far between.I recognise people who have left us and those whom are still alive.Very good video. I hope the local people of Garrison can see this moment in time. Id say there was a few stories told on the way back to Rossinver over the handlebars of a bike. Well done
This video reminds me of the dances/ceilis I used to go to when I studied Irish in Annagry, Co. Donegal. It evokes memories of a more innocent time, even though I realise Garrison had its troubles during this era. It's wonderful the way nights like this stick in the memory while countless others spent with nameless, faceless, people in larger venues fade almost instantly. Great choice of music Michael Buble is integrated seamlessy. The last dance, what a shame places like these disappear.
I know Frances, that idyllic period before the later Celtic Tiger, when everyone knew each other, cared about each other, did not use drugs, were poor together and money was something you gave away to that totally non pc term "black babies"
