How does this announcer still have a job? That was the most anti climactic Stanley Cup TRIPLE OVERTIME GAME WINNING GOAL I've ever heard and could possibly imagine.
@ForThemKids19 i know how you feel man... i just watched my nucks lose. ironically, both the nucks and sabres are the exact same age. both are cupless. ARGHHHH
It is tough to lose on a goal like that especially for a team like Buffalo who has never won a Cup but Sabres only scored 9 goals in 6 games (and 2 games went to OT). In 1999 Dallas had best regular season record, allowed fewest goals, and had best Goals Scored vs Goals Allowed rating in NHL, so Stars were a better team. Today, fans in Buffalo are probably even more pissed off that they had to face opponent in Final with goalie named Befour (not Luongo) and captain named Hatcher (not Sedin).
What kinda sucks for Buffalo is that the Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl...TWICE earlier in the 90s. So for the 3rd time in that decade, a Dallas team beat a Buffalo team for a professional sports championship. That made it 50 times worse than it already was.
The problem is that I had seen goals like that waived off. No one knew the rule exactly. Glad they got rid of that rule. I saw goals waived off with a toe in the crease. Even saw an empty netter waived off. Serious? No one thought with the goalie out that the rule shouldn't matter? Unless you stop the goalie from making a save the goal should count.
@tjd92295 As a Wings fan it's true and I think it's cause of his reputation which is stupid. He'll get stuff waived off that other guys don't. Game 4 between the Wings/Stars in 08 is a good example. Wings got one waived off and then Stars scored with Eriksson on top of Osgood. At least the rule now is more clear that you can't stop the goalie from making the save. Then, it was you can't be in the crease. Goalie could be between the circles but if you're in the crease before the puck...no goal.
I think the city of Buffalo deserves a championship more than any other city in the US. This is coming from a Pittsburgh fan. I know I was on the Sabres bandwagon for this series.
@MMA94NYC Wow, you are one of the most pretentious douchebags I've ever had contact with..

Still hurts for Buffalo fans, who 12 years later, are still in utter denial that the goal was legal, despite the rule being applied correctly.

@tmoore4075 Holmstrom goals still get waived off for that. (From a Buffalo fan, just an observation I've made)

@tmoore4075 And as a Wings fan, you automatically never will give Chicago, St Louis, Dallas, or Colorado the benefit of the doubt.

no goal his foot was in the fucking crease

@MrMrof
The rule was that you needed to have control of the puck in order to enter the crease...which he did.

@SuperTugz Look at your history - Dallas owns Buffalo in championships.
