As I listened to you narrative, I lost count of the parallels between your life and my own. I prefer to do my socializing online, I have a few interests that I obsess over (Art & Writing), and I like for my small personal space to be private. It's great being a hermit.
Society is broke, wanting time to yourself for yourspace for your being is a healthy & natural response to todays ill society. Society chalks it up to social anxiety because you should be working your brains out as a cog in the wheel. Be like the rest it screams.... As J. Krishnamurti pointed out once, it is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. Your healthier then a whole hell of alotta people bud.
Lol @ the commenters who are "hipster hermits," i.e. "you're not a REAL hermit because (blah blah blah), I'm more of a hermit than you, you're doing it wrong..." Since when did calling oneself a hermit require one to meet some sort of qualification standards? Are you afraid that "lesser" hermits are going to spoil your club exclusivity? Get over yourselves.
i'm kind of the same way, i prefer to stay home away from people . most of my social comes from wow. the only reason i have a social is my job or my coworkers kind of force me / coerce me to go out. i have a small apartment and i like being confined to it. nice comfort zone. i am very comfortable with how my life is. i'm in the middle of a major city and i have come to realize how much i don't like being in public and i have problems being able to interact with most people on a 'normal' basis
ppl are just born differently. Some are very social and some are not. Some are very clairvoyant while others are one tracked.Some are religious while others are not.
If all people were the same way this world will be very boring to live in.
First impression: this is sad--no getting around it. You deny it but your acceptance of a life with so little in-person social contact and an erratic sleep cycle still seems reluctant. That disqualifies you from being an real hermit, who'd crave complete solitude. We have lots in common, but I'm further along in accepting a nearly nonexist't social schedule. And I often wonder why 'anti-social' has such a bad connotation. I'm clearly somewhat anti-social but I haven't an unkind bone in my body.
There are more hermits in the world than one might imagine. It is not an easy life, but it draws some people to it. More often, people find ways of creating a hermitage somewhere in their life to which they can regularly escape. This is a good thing. The world is a crazy place, way too chaotic. If more people spent time alone, being centered, I cannot help but think that the world would change, rather quickly, for the better.
i really don't think that hermit is the word you should use to derscribe yourself. i think that you have social anxiety and that's probably why u live alone and don't socialise or go out. you're just living that way coz u feel like you can't lie another life right( something more social? hermits usually give themselves to God and seek solitude with and for Him. Jesus will give you life and happiness if you live through His path, especially instead of just only playing videogames or making things
hes content good fir him

Thanks for posting this personal video.
You are not weird or depressed. You are just introvert. We are many like you -just not as many as the extroverts :)

@andrews112
Not everyone who doesn't want to socialize has social anxiety or is anti-social. It's called being Introverted verses being extraverted, look it up.
Also not all hermits are religious.
Quit generalizing.
