  • how can it be efficient while starting and stopping combustion just like any other slight modification of an otto cycle engine?

  • I've just got an old book from 1938 or earlier. It is called ' The Modern Diesel'. In it, amongst many diesel engines around at the time is a Dutch engine, a Hulsebos Hesselman. It runs on this exact principal. This was en engine in use at the time of publication, not a futuristic idea. I can't find any info about it on the 'net. The book is available on Amazon.

  • This one sucks... Not efficient at all, look at all of that complexity.

  • Please watch:

    SUPER-EFFICIENT ENGINE Newest Design

  • It looks like that engine can make lots of vibration at high speeds because ot the moving pattern it has...

  • There is one of these in use as a generator. But what is the benefit? its a complex design.

  • @Tagard1995 This is definitely not a complex design. The type of axial engine featured in this video is the simplest of engineering concepts.

  • Air conditioning compressor system.

  • very nice drawing and idea, but i dont think its very practical for use?

  • interesting design but how would that standup to higher rpm and continual use?

  • @Tagard1995 The cylinders are obviously fired at a much higher rate.

  • @ZombieCyborgJesus Ive already thaught of this. I know that with more cylinders less idle speed is needed. Im a mechanic. A v6 can idle at 750 yet a single cylinder runs at 1500-1750 idle.

  • There was a company that triesd this AENG.....never got a working prototype but had nice pictures

  • super.

how to start? how does the starter?

  • Sort of a variant of the setup you find in certain AC compressors. Of course in that case, the pistons are being driven by the movement of the shaft.

  • What programme did you use to animate this?

  • your spider will become legless in a matter of moments.

  • Haahahha.. true..

  • My point about becoming legless is that there are huge stresses associated with moving all that material in those odd directions. Sure, it's fun to watch from the perspective of a make-believe design-land environment, but making it become a reality may be asking too much!

  • Nice animation, but why not just mount the pistons radially around a rotating cam or flywheel?

  • axial engines allow a much smaller profile but are longer, unlike radial engines which are short but wide. Depends on the space requirements of a given application I guess

  • My caddy is cooler than this and it is brown!

  • you designed this yourself?

this wears down in short time i think, unless you use a very good material..

bearings will break, steel wears.. hmm

the model of EICADBX is better i think..

  • ahh similar operation of a cross between a hydraulic motor and a sawzall mechanism
