I would consider Sims and its expansion packs a great gateway game for chicks.

If you want to inolve her in online games, say Halo 3. Have her practice with you first. Say, make a game out of her trying to snipe you from afar with you running around, this way she wins almost every one of them becasue the goal is to just shoot you. Smaller goals usually reap greater rewards. Or work on the sticky genades, have her help you in forge with a map. A little interactivity goes a long way.
