Its tricky, but the earth is warming and something other than nothing has to be done. For example, move everyone living near a coast line into other areas, probably into deserts, thats one solution. Lets consider if houses where built better, say a passive house, requiring little cooling and heating thus reducing demands on utilities, thus keeping prices lowers on electicity production, would that be a good thing? This is all about economy of change, how we now adapt to a warming changing world.

Modern coal power plants put out water and co2 , thats it .
I no its difficult for the malthusian mind to comprehend but in this age we have wet ventury scrubbers and other anti pollution devices . Modern coal plants like cars are very efficient and clean burning . In the 80s and 90s car emissions were cleaned up so much as they actually clean the air in many cities . The reason they cant just set higher emission targets is because co2 is not a pollutant .

I did not buy my 3kw solar array because I had some misguided fantasy about saving the planet , I got them to be more self sufficient . They will never produce the power it took to make them , but nether will my TV set . The fact is that the power we use in Australia is the least amount of harm we will do to our environment . I consider myself an environmentalist not a fool , co2 is not and has never been a pollutant .

As a science graduate well I kind of side with um .. you know .. the science. Skepticism is a very important trait. If only people used it more often through a broader range of subjects. I am perplexed as to why this is so vehemently applied to climate change and human contribution when there is a lot of information for people to discover if they bothered to escape the shock jock rathole.
