I stopped playing this video about 52 seconds in. The reason why? This is actually one of the worst and potentially damaging ways of looking at paranoid/hebephrenic/catanoic etc. schizophrenia. This is coming from someone who's faced paranoid schizophrenia since childhood. I want to add that just because there are physical changes or differences in the brain of a person with this "mental illness" doesn't mean it is not related to the spirit as well. It is all connected. There can be physical signs that there is something different in one person's soul or spirit evident in their physical body or brain chemistry. One does not preclude the other. If you believe in god then you should also be open to what these women are saying.
When I saw the video of this girl the first thought I had was there is a real chance she is just intuitive and it is being majorly misinterpreted by the adults in her life. I see her as highly psychic and not mentally ill. It is sad to me that more people do not understand how close we are to that thin veil between our worlds. Some of us see things others cannot see. I know most will not see it as a real possibility and that is sad...especially for that little girl.
Wow. Please revise this video with a more comprehensive study on what schizophrenia is. There are many types, and as a person with education in psychology and has personal experience with the matter, I feel you should really research the topic before putting this video up. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but please make an educated one. Schizophrenia has a strong relationship to physiological differences and CAN BE triggered by traumatic experiences. This is not a definite cause.
Each Schizophrenia case is different. At this point in time the actual cause of Schizophrenia has not been found. There are many theories to the cause of Schizophrenia such as: genetic abnormalities or a lack of grey matter in the brain. There are less 'physical cause' theories like it's something in a person's environment that triggers the Schizophrenia, like Drug Abuse.
But the truth is that people can only theorize as to why a someone may have Schizophrenia. There is no true answer.
I'm doing a project on schizophrenia and its not cause from trauma. Schizophrenia has various causes and some of them are still unknown. Recently some doctors discovered that some cases are explained by the genetic mutation but trauma is certainly not one of the causes. Get your facts right or STFUP

Who is the interviewer?? She is totally misinformed. A psych disorder that creates a separate existance related to a trauma is Disassociative Identity Disorder (DID) aka Multiple Personality Disorder. Schizophrenia is mostly congential (if it were trauma-enduced, people could pin point the causative event) and there are different types. Disorganized, Paranoid, Schizoaffective, etc. and all with different symptoms.
SZ has been promoted that it is only ever congenital and most ppl believe that but such a psychosis can occur and often does through trauma. Sleep deprivation for one can induce similar symptoms and that is in a sense traumatic. Please think outside the box of your psych class.

I think there is a traumatic event, for example if you are in an abusive relationship that trigger a traumatic event of the past, schizofrenia could be that you do not have a defense mechanism to protect yourself, then you collapse and begin to hear voices. In your pregnnacy you could have had strong traumatic events, if you take a child or and adult person away from that person that trigger intense emotional response and take treatment people improve.

The imbalance in the brain is usually caused by the mother being exposed to toxins and participating in things that effected the baby negatively while they pregnant. You have a stronger chance of developing schizophrenia when you have a relative who has it, because the genetics can be passed on. I have to agree with the idea that Jani is experiencing and sensing things that most people cannot sense or experience but I really hate to define what it is whether it be other dimensions or past lives or attached spirits. It would be really nice if we could be so open some day that we could allow Jani to tell us herself without needing to label her experience for her. The idea that new age or any religion is using her to promote dogma disturbs me.

Personally, I dont ever deny anthing to be fake, end of the day who am I to say that someones claim that they're psychic is a lie? Some people hold unexplainable evidence, and just because it's unlogical or not enough we shouldnt dismiss it. We dont dismiss the idea of evolution and thats not even a proven fact. However, I dont believe schizophrenia has anything to with spirits. The brain is a highly complex organ and any physical abnormalities can cause amazing results.

I have family members who suffer from schizophrenia and who are suffering a biological problem with their brain... but there ARE people (and children) who are diagnosed as 'schizophrenic' who appear to have something that is beyond our understanding. I always saw it as how we, if we lived in a world that had no fifth sense of 'sight' might react to someone who had been born with the ability to use their eyes and see the world.

You might call them psychic or whatever you like.... but they have the common sense to not tell everyone, to harm themselves, they've developed the understanding to handle what they 'see'. Too true, I used lucid dreaming long ago (ten years ago) to go to a university with the intention of finding out about alternate universes. I actually read a book there that said there were different types of universes. The three that I remember were Anima, Spectral and Opaque universes. I found out on one of Tony Darnell's Universe shows that before the stars started burning our universe was full of gas. It was opaque. This is confimation for something learned a decade ago. I don't think the people are fearful of the unknown, but simply skeptical. And rightly so. The reason why people should be skeptical in unfamiliarity or uncertainty, because there is no basis for unknown belief. It is just a belief without any merit. @Flows234 Actually... they aren't separated anymore, the kids, they still have two apartments for sleeping but the kids spend the day together for the most of the time. (There was even a point the family were about to rent a two bedroom apartment for the kids but were unable to pass the credit check to get it, and so decided to stick with their two one bedroom apartments.) Jani's little brother has also started to show the same behavior as her.

I want to add that just because there are physical changes or differences in the brain of a person with this "mental illness" doesn't mean it is not related to the spirit as well. It is all connected. There can be physical signs that there is something different in one person's soul or spirit evident in their physical body or brain chemistry. One does not preclude the other. There are many types, and as a person with education in psychology and has personal experience with the matter, I feel you should really research the topic before putting this video up. Each Schizophrenia case is different. At this point in time the actual cause of Schizophrenia has not been found. There are many theories to the cause of Schizophrenia such as: genetic abnormalities or a lack of grey matter in the brain. There are less 'physical cause' theories like it's something in a person's environment that triggers the Schizophrenia, like Drug Abuse.
But the truth is that people can only theorize as to why a someone may have Schizophrenia. There is no true answer.

A psych disorder that creates a separate existance related to a trauma is Disassociative Identity Disorder (DID) aka Multiple Personality Disorder. Schizophrenia is mostly congential (if it were trauma-enduced, people could pin point the causative event) and there are different types. Disorganized, Paranoid, Schizoaffective, etc. and all with different symptoms.

I think there is a traumatic event, for example if you are in an abusive relationship that trigger a traumatic event of the past, schizofrenia could be that you do not have a defense mechanism to protect yourself, then you collapse and begin to hear voices. In your pregnnacy you could have had strong traumatic events, if you take a child or and adult person away from that person that trigger intense emotional response and take treatment people improve.

The imbalance in the brain is usually caused by the mother being exposed to toxins and participating in things that effected the baby negatively while they pregnant. You have a stronger chance of developing schizophrenia when you have a relative who has it, because the genetics can be passed on. I thought it wasn't fair to make opinions on something when the facts you were basing them on weren't reliable. (Trauma).

@blondechannel i study psychology. schizophrenia is an imbalance of dopamine in the brain. its a neurological disorder. it can also be linked to genetics. it has little to nothing to do with trauma.

@JaZZa161 an imbalance within the brain that is often associated with traumas is one school of thought. which is precisely why Jani's doctors were so dumbfounded by her diagnosis. You can watch their videos on youtube (from what I've learned)what I am stating goes beyond what is logical to our current way of thinking and steps into other possibilities that are revealing themselves as other scientific avenues such as quantum mechanics (string theory and such) are explored.

@jcasetnl I hope you know that wikipedia is not the gospel but volunteers who believe the information they are providing us for free and out of the goodness of their hearts is accurate. You may want to read beyond that when gathering proof of anything, although I do find them helpful quite often myself when it comes to defining things.

As so many of us have seen, science fiction is a precursor to science fact most often. eye and hand scans as entry ways was only sci fi...what? 25 years ago? it's reality today. Schizos, Jani included, experience voices & visions of things that are often scarey to the victim & tell them to do harmful things to themselves & others.There are reports of religious intervetion causing the voices to become more provasive/angry. Some cases report the voices will leave while religiously inclined. what thoughts do u have on such a matter?

Just spreading the word that Micheal, Jani's father is now blocking anyone who points out the abuse he is inflicting upon his own child from commenting on his personal videos. These actions clearly state the motives of a father who is exploiting his child for monetary gain and his agenda to label her mentally ill with no verifiable disease. On his personal blog he admits to physical abuse of Jani. Thumbs up to keep it in view so that we can stop these abuses from occuring.

I have to agree with the idea that Jani is experiencing and sensing things that most people cannot sense or experience but I really hate to define what it is whether it be other dimensions or past lives or attached spirits. It would be really nice if we could be so open some day that we could allow Jani to tell us herself without needing to label her experience for her. The idea that new age or any religion is using her to promote dogma disturbs me.

I hope she one day as the strength and courage to know for herself, regardless of what the "professionals" (doctors) are telling her. I also hope she can understand more deeply what may be occurring by visiting other options presented by people such as myself, but doesn't feel pressure to buy into these concepts if they don't fit for her. :-)

I'm glad you're brave enough to listen to your gut. Many of us get pulled self trust because we think black and white, right wrong. If it's not 100% correct, we think were wrong! My gut feeling was about the girl specifically- all I know about her is from a 3 min video but when I heard; "I know what you need... thorazine!" it really, really freaked me out. I heard lithium nicknamed "lithy" on another video, like it was a friend.

Personally, I dont ever deny anthing to be fake, end of the day who am I to say that someones claim that they're psychic is a lie? Some people hold unexplainable evidence, and just because it's unlogical or not enough we shouldnt dismiss it. We dont dismiss the idea of evolution and thats not even a proven fact. However, I dont believe schizophrenia has anything to with spirits. The brain is a highly complex organ and any physical abnormalities can cause amazing results.

I have family members who suffer from schizophrenia and who are suffering a biological problem with their brain... but there ARE people (and children) who are diagnosed as 'schizophrenic' who appear to have something that is beyond our understanding. I always saw it as how we, if we lived in a world that had no fifth sense of 'sight' might react to someone who had been born with the ability to use their eyes and see the world.

@ThatBrazilChick Some people learn to 'see' later in life, which is common, and are adults. They take it better. You might call them psychic or whatever you like.... but they have the common sense to not tell everyone, to harm themselves, they've developed the understanding to handle what they 'see'. But I have seen an increase in children born who 'see' too... and I can tell you, they are different to schizophrenic kids or adults, you'll even hear in Jani's case how 'unusual' her case is.

schizophrenia, has nothing to do with trauma, there is nothing to suggest that. it is a chemical inbalance in the brain. caused by a developmental issue, meaning your born with it, or perhaps an enviromental factor

Too true, I used lucid dreaming long ago (ten years ago) to go to a university with the intention of finding out about alternate universes. I actually read a book there that said there were different types of universes. The three that I remember were Anima, Spectral and Opaque universes. I found out on one of Tony Darnell's Universe shows that before the stars started burning our universe was full of gas. It was opaque. This is confimation for something learned a decade ago. Sounds like many of your commenters are fearful of the unknown. Introspection would be that glimpse behind the curtain-- of course, wizards(OZ) would too much for them to handle. It is easier to attempt to debunk based in the scientific method than to venture beyond familiarity and the certainty.

I don't think the people are fearful of the unknown, but simply skeptical. And rightly so. The reason why people should be skeptical in unfamiliarity or uncertainty, because there is no basis for unknown belief. It is just a belief without any merit. I've seen a psychic and I realized they overly generalize everything and they use cold reading. Nothing special, just plain old trickery.

If one is to test this theory one will need a journal, discipline, a pencil, pen, or computer, and the courage to face one's fears. A couple of these I mention are not of the physical world; but they are tools just as well. Some people would argue that they are not valid tools, and that one cannot actually travel to the inner world. You'll simply have faith in what I am telling you: look within for answers, and listen.

Especially in a case of someone with schizophrenia, where their perception of the world is distorted. This doesn't make any sense at all. 2) I don't see how naming some writing apparatuses and then saying it will help travel to the inner world make any sense either. It just sounds like babbling to me. I can't put my faith in nothing.

@Flows234 Actually... they aren't separated anymore, the kids, they still have two apartments for sleeping but the kids spend the day together for the most of the time. (There was even a point the family were about to rent a two bedroom apartment for the kids but were unable to pass the credit check to get it, and so decided to stick with their two one bedroom apartments.) Jani's little brother has also started to show the same behavior as her.

@Neithie I was referring to that specific time period, when the show was aired. It was around the same time this "psychic" made her video, in October of 09. So she was wrong when she said these kids were meant teach each other stuff by their interactions, despite the show blatantly showing the parents saying they needed separate apartments to keep the children away from each other.

However, I would add that since I am concerned about her well being, what ever is "using me" for evil, may not in fact be winning.
