There's a sincerity and honesty plus a distinct Eddie Hazel feel.

Technicalities mean very little. No need to analyse..just listen.

    Peace.

  • I never never knew how great this tune was since I dug it from my selves first time since buying some 7 years ago... Thanks for great vid!

  • IMo have to load some soul music up too.... Nice job

  • Wow this is great! I thought I had seen all your videos but I must have missed this one. Did I hear Warren say he played in a band in the 70"s? Which band? How did you guys meet?

    Keep the good music coming!

  • JAAAMMIN babY!

  • OK NOW THIS GOOD VIBING JAMMING

  • Sounding pretty good there!

  • aint trying to rain on your party the strum is wrong

  • @Farris287 Yeah, we do our own thing this way. No sense in getting mixed up in the technicalities, we just enjoy the music.....missed chords/out of tune guitars/off key singing and all. It's more of a comradery thing and just having fun.

  • Man, you are amazing and an inspiration!

  • good shit, kind sir. thanks for posting!

  • Close.....not quite. But the on the verse, after that 2nd Amin on the record it's a Bsus4....Listen to it.

  • The chords he's using for 'Hello It's Me' are certainly different than both Rundgren's original and the Isley's cover; some nice jams tho-

  • i love this dude hes awesome his fingers o what i wish mine would do...better love!!!!!!!!!! thats about the essence..lol

  • Ya'll jammin' it up....Ya'll should have a guitar academy!!!

  • Warren is a living funk encyclopedia.

  • This was nice his voice reminds me of Bill Cosby

  • I love the Isley's...Warren u are showing out on these breakdowns 4 real... I luv this!!!

  • almost like a lost art in the community, as of late.

  • Derek, just wanted to say thanks to you and Warren for sharing your talents and this music. Great stuff.

    Peace and Blessing,

    Jon

  • wow. you guys NEED to do a separate recording of "hello, it's me." I was listening to it and the tone was just blowing my mind

  • Man I love this.

    Your Great!

Ever thought about Sister Sledge's tune

"Thinking of You,"? That would be a nice one to tackle.

Also Isley's Footsteps in the Dark,

Rufus & Chaka Khan "Stay," & "Packed My Bags"

    Keep on Groovin'

  • man i wish i could meet you guys in person. show me some tricks. haha

  • yoo nice video dude.

  • viewing this made me feel happy

  • that's great to hear man, for real.

  • I am humbled and honored to watch this (head bowed). This is a REAL as it gets folks. Pay attention. This type of creativity isn't captured on any medium very often. MORE history in the making indeed : ).

  • this guy is the truth!

  • YOU'RE HIRED!!!

    Can't touch that! Wow!!!

Very few folks can play guitar like this.

    Very Very Impressive :D

  • warren has a great voice, but this song sounds a little out of his range. ah just kidding. he usually hits those high notes pretty well, he must have been tired. I know you guys had been drinking when you recorded "voyage to atlantis," were any other videos recorded like that? Does being tipsy help or hinder?

  • That just shows how good Ron Isley is on the mic. I had him singin all weekend cause we went on a weekend trip out of town and this was Sunday evening when we got back to Milwaukee. Beer always help your playing too.

  • sayyy... did my comment get deleted?

  • Which comment? I don't delet comments unless they are spam or dumb b.s. but I've gotten some great feedback from you.

    Peace,

    Derek

  • Wow that was weird. For a few days my comment was gone. Anyhow, thanks for always responding. Can you get Warren to elaborate on the intro to this song? HE plays it so fast and I can't really tell what to do, sorry, I'm a novice.

  • @PLUMBdogg man, this man is INCREDIBLE. He is a one man show-heck, he doesn't need other instruments. This clip made my day. Boy, you are lucky to know him and hear him

  • Thanks for the old school lessons. How about some Isley Jasper Isley.Caravan of love.Nice EWF at 4:00

  • That is amazing

  • Glad to see another Isley lesson

  • I am a big fan of this guy and the style of music he plays. This is a nice clean recording, too.

  • Ah man I loved thanks so much

  • Hi Derek, you and Warren are a great team of guitarists I always learn something from both of you. Warren wow what a master of lush rhythm guitar AND he knows how to explain it which is great. I am jealous of that Strat with the Univox PU too ha ha. Keep up the great work guys. By the way I just got my BSIAB2 board from GGG that is my next effects project.

    Your friend,

    Bill

  • Hey thanks Bill. I wish I had all those vintage guitars you got! I liked the BSIAB2 kit alot. I gave it to my Dad as a gift. As for the tone of the strat...it was running thru a solid state 10 watt Vox and a Univibe clone and it did sound "lush". The strat has as much Soul and Warren does.

    Derek

  • Love the univibe sound.

  • Warren needs to put out an instructional dvd on how to play old school music. How did he learn, Self taught, lessons? And who did he play back in the day?

  • Warren is da man.

  • Warren is THE man. Some people play but Warren feels the music. I'd love to know his history. It made me laugh when he broke into Todd Rundgren's Hello. I was only listening to it two days ago on the tube.

What other gems does Warren have up his sleeve. Keep 'em coming PLUMBdogg - great stuff.

  • Just found out the Isleys did 'Hello it's me' so it's not so strange that Warrens playing it.

  • Nice sounding guitar there!

  • warren do u have prefect pitch

  • Keep spittin 'em out...im jus following you. im learning from da best. how's about "groove with you" or "livin 4 da luv of u" by the isley's.

  • Warren is such a well of knowledge. I'd like to have him show the world how to play "Footsteps in the dark".

  • Soon. He has to dig back and pull it out the archives of stuff he learned.

  • he likes alot of 7th powerchords

  • Thanks, looking forward to it. I'll be patient.
