The thing I love about comics, is that a character can dead in one universe, and alive in another. Spiderman, Hawkeye, The Punisher, how many times in comics have they died? Lived? The same universe, a seperate story. Maybe the Cap died in that issue, but he lives in others. A reader can choose to read and believe what he wishes. For me, the Cap is alive and well, kicking commy and nazi ass.

Not only did it end in their deaths but the deaths of a bunch of kids who's school was nearby. So the government decided that super hero's had to work for S.H.I.E.L.D and their identity revield (Spider-Man was the first to do this after the announcement) or be considered enemies of the world. Iron Man led the S.H.I.E.L.D forces against Cap's rebels.
