megane 250 didnt do as bad as i thought actually, i knew the renault was a fast car but thought it would be stomped by the mighty focus RS, both really nice hot hatches but the ford always gets vote because it looks insanely aggressive.

Megane is faster in twisty track....like in the city. But Ford will eat it on long country roads with power and high speed stability. Note that life is not spent on race tracks. And plastic windows just dont do it for car buyers....no wonder the greater focus sales. Life is a balance. The Megane is a go-kart good only for track days.

Megane is quite obvious the better car. Of course, the Ford wins in a drag race because it has a more powerfull engine. However, building a powerfull engine is not the object of building a fast car. Fast is not just racing in a straight line. If the Megane beats the Focus on The Ring, it beats the focus on any track. Fact. If Renault want to put more power in their car, they simply will do that. It's just not necessary to beat the competition. That's a laugh. Besides, the Megane is 15K cheaper.
as a owner of renault megane , a brotherly advice "DO NOT THINK OF BUYING THIS CAR" I baught a second-hand 2.0L megane from a french guy it's from 2005. the car is always having problems. i had to call a breakdown truck 2 times. i had to change the engines fan too. ITS RIPPING OFF MY MONEY. and the spare parts are too expensive. it does not worth a penny. I have a 2 kia's(rio and a van) and a volvo s80. I never had problems like the megane it sucks. so my advice buy a japanese/korean or USA cars
if it were built just for track it would eat megane like it was nothing. so don't start pointless discussions which car is better because each of them is better at something. megane is better in corners, focus is better in speed and power... and it sounds lets be fair 10 times nicer than megane does :) and also forgot to mention the torque... focus is simply beast when it comes to torque... 440Nm from 2300-4600rpm and megane has 360 from 3000-5000rpm. Focus gives much nicer blast of power :)

I reckon the Megane would be faster around a track - ( a certain famous German one for starters) ; though both cars have amazing front end grip, and put the power down incredibly well, I found the Megane had better balance,and it's chassis is to die for.. I wanted it to use for another day is was such fun to drive... driving any car in the straight line proves little of the car's real abilities (imo)

Focus RS costs about 10k EUR more then the RS and has almost 60 bhp more.
If it's for a track day, I'd pick the focus straight away. But to pay for my car I need to get to my job...and that's where the Renault beats the Focus hands down. Focus RS is a brilliant toy, but fails as a practical and still somewhat comfortable car.

@matthewruss You are being funny as the Megane handles very well, maybe as well as the Focus. The Astra needs tuning to get the handling sorted but the Megane handles great. All Renault hot hatches handle well - maybe better than any in their class.
The Megane actually has a higher power-to-weight ratio. It weighs less than the Focus and puts out more power than claimed. On paper it should win in a straight line as well, yet in real life it doesn't. Consider ALL the facts before just regurgitating claimed HP difference.
That's what everyone should expect. Both cars are close on weight but Ford has 54 HP more power than Renault Megané. And about the thing @itachi1993z said, I totally agree ;)

But only on a straight line because on a true road or on a circuit the Megane 3 RS is better best with its wonderfull superior chassis ^^

@nou790 So slightly faster that it doesnt make a difference. Megane is better in every single way. Its better built, got a much better interior, drives nicer, its MUCH faster around tracks (8:07 per lap around nurburgring...thats bmw m3 e92 territory)... its just a better car overall. Ford has 50 hp more and it wins only by a fraction of a second in a 1 km race.

@launchini100 No. Fact-free, my friend. The Megane with 8:08 was a stock Megane Trophy. Little tuning only. Nowhere near the 305bhp of the Focus.

noob kid, 50hp more for the Focus, thus normal is a such run in right line that the Focus RS finish 1st...
But on a normal road or on circuit all the things change and the Focus is far behind the MRS3 in spite 50hp less because the exceptionnal chassis of the MRS3, the best in the world of all the FWD !!!

wa makes me laugh r people tha say astra vxr and meganes r faster and beter wen tuned, not beion funny they are like american cars when it comes to cornerin compared to the rs, str8 line speed doesnt proove the beter car, look who the most succesful wrc team are today, oh and by the way i do favour the rs but i do respect the megane and vxr as they are nice cars :)

@matthewruss You are being funny as the Megane handles very well, maybe as well as the Focus. The Astra needs tuning to get the handling sorted but the Megane handles great. All Renault hot hatches handle well - maybe better than any in their class.

The Megane actually has a higher power-to-weight ratio. It weighs less than the Focus and puts out more power than claimed. On paper it should win in a straight line as well, yet in real life it doesn't. Consider ALL the facts before just regurgitating claimed HP difference.

That's what everyone should expect. Both cars are close on weight but Ford has 54 HP more power than Renault Megané. And about the thing @itachi1993z said, I totally agree ;)

it s pretty obvious that the ford beat the mégane on straight but in turn the megane is way better than the focus ant thats the reason than the megan has 8.07 s lap in the nurburgring against 8.26 s in focus

@itachi1993z No, you are wrong. Focus RS Ring lap= 8:26 and Megane RS Ring lap= 8:29. It would be nice to watch Megane RS Trophy (8:07) vs Focus RS 500 (?) both limited editions.
