Wow. What a production. It does make me miss the Bee Gees and Maurice though. Here's a thumbs up to the brothers Gibb and this video! (Robin has such a unique voice).
Well this was a surprise find. What an electric performance carried by an audience you'd just love to step into. Why they hardly needed him to have turned up at all. Thanks, the stelth, for sharing this moment of magic. Sung at a lower pitch than the record release, it loses nothing and was such a big song on the continent but not charted in the UK. The enforced encore seemed to take Robin and the backing singers by surprise, pure magic
I much prefer the Melbourne 1989 version. I also prefer those lyrics as these are slightly different. The album version of this song was horrid, so this is better than that one at least.
This song has so many differnt chord progressions and parts that suddenly change and each change is like a small song to its self it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever herd in my life its very clever and rare it falls out of one part to another so well and the parts still are so in harmony Bee Gees is one of the best ever and this is one of there best songs so makes this song one of the best bands best songs so that says lots for Juliet thanks Robin Gibb.
@xoubafina , el problema es que Robin Gibb impostaba su voz en la canción original en un registro agudo.´En este video, él ya está viejo y esas impostaciones ya le cuestan
Thanks for replying, Luke. I have been listening closer for the falsetto but with robins voice everything he sings sounds so natural. He just does not seem to show that forced "scream" as you called it that almost seems painful. I guess I am so used to Barry's falsetto which they say was often painful for him because of his back problems. I have spine problems and I can relate. Robin just sings with so little visible effort. Thanks, great talking. I can't believe your age. you know your stuff.
Robin has shown the great ability to sing in any range but still look perfectly comfortable there. A lot like Roy Orbison, which is one example that comes to mind.:)
Barry's falsetto is full of effort, as is his normal vocal, both equally good styles from Rob and Barry, add them together, perfect partnership.:)
I honestly don't think Robin ever did falsetto, that was Barrys baby. I believe Robin always did vibrato, which blended well with barry but I always felt that Robin did not get the recognition that was due him because Barry was the "hot" looking one and Maurice was the out going funny guy. Robin was always shy but his voice was the glue that held everything together. His voice is amazing but you need to listen to their music each one had very special talents but Robins voice always stood out.
Just listen to Here At Last or watch some footage from the Spirits tour and special (it includes footage of them recording Tradegy and Robin and barry practising the chorus in falsetto together)
Robin sings falsetto lead on the track Living Together from Spirits, and his solo career has several screams and the like.
But otherwise you are right!
Robin had a great range falsetto wise, Barry's just suited the leads better at the time.
But he has used falsetto on a few other tracks as well, for example, E.S.P he screams at the end, on the Magnet 2003 album he sings a few verses in falsetto (but thats solo), on Living Together he sings in an incredible falsetto and a lot of songs in the fever period he sang falsetto double leads with Barry that sounded like a double track, because of the way their vocals belnd, like on Too Much Heaven, where you can hear Maurice clearly while Barry and Robin do the falsetto.
He's still hurting over Maurice and it definitely shows and so glad he tried despite the sadness.Lord Robin has the best falsetto voice there is!!!!!!!
I love this one... I love it when the crowd does the Ohs and Robin was just enjoying the moment. Besides he is the onlyone to step up to honor his brother by doing the music... Bless this man...

I think Robin could do most of these songs with a stripped down backing - but I wonder if he's confident enought.
