@us2guam2us dubstep is not necessarily batshit insane songs. yes, there are a lot, but the majority doesnt define the genre. when r&b, diverged from rythym and blues, they still called r&b even though now the genres filled with electronic traits, lyrics that contain a vulgar content. what @iBlaze2much said is completely right. the original song itself is a really slow and calm song. a really filthy dubstep would just be too much.

@gardenguyvic It actually stemmed from DnB, techno and house in underground clubs in london. Not that it is any of those things, or reggae at either. Skream has been on the dubstep scene from near the beginning, so if you wanna know what it stemmed from, listen to his stuff from around 2003. Not that it will be easy to find.. You wont find any of its first tracks, as there wasnt vinyl or anything, it was just played in clubs by djs on there laptops which probably dont exist anymore.
