  • @guapolodoro amazing? exageration much? on a side not, No.3 is beta than 1 and 2

  • @TheDisK0nN3Kt3d

The painting is from Remedios Varo! Look for her paintings, you´d possible become a fan of her!

  • Good choice of art work; superb!

  • Just exquisite!!! Thank you, DistantMirrors.

  • I have listened to this CD before.

  • @GrandPatzer bravo

  • @GrandPatzer me too :D

  • It takes so long to compose music like this.

  • this really yanks at my heart...

  • @redSUPERMAN2 Just the same as me!

  • man just reminds me of when my brother died...

  • @redSUPERMAN2 i'm sorry about your loss...

  • This song can only sound right on a grand piano

  • @Darkvik2 eh, how about put some exception? I can sound good too even in a simple piano as long as you want it to sound good. That's music.

  • When i listen to this song, it feels like everything is at peace!!

  • I want to know the meaning of this song >3<

  • I fuckin love this song

  • Effy, this song hurts my heart...

  • @WouTar I love you.

  • @effyblaine

    <3

  • i get the shivers from ze get go

  • gosh i love this..its my heart song xD

  • this song has taught me alot on so many levels you guys may think i sound weird but this song is my most favorite song i like better when theres violins ceillos flutes and etc. i no i spelled ciello wrong ok

  • ... Miss you a lot ...

  • No, this is my favourite speed for the piece

  • It's a shame that there are no outstanding composers similar to Satie in this century.

  • I'm sure there are many brilliant composers today who are in a class of their own. But its not easy to get noticed today.

  • anyone know a tutorial or how to play version for this?

i really want to learn this on piano and remake it on the pc with some other effects ^^

  • @beatproducerken Google mutopia project. From that site you can download the sheets for this piece from the piano category (actually not sure if it is exactly the same version, tho). Hope that helps :)

  • i love satie but the guy who's playing it, goes a little bit faster than i got used to.

  • @iImplying omg, its unfunny on so many levels, i wouldn't know where to begin...

  • where are the paintings from. they are really good!

  • @Porojukaha From spanish painter Remedios Varo :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Remedios Varo!

  • I love Gymnopedie No 1 as I play this on my Korg piano, from the Kenneth Baker Complete piano book 5. I never knew, there was even a Gynopedie No 2, until my son pointed this out to me recently. These are without doubt some of the most beautiful and haunting melodies you'll find anywhere. And wonderfully played with dynamics and expression. Stunning!

  • Too short! ):

  • @SemiToneBlew Hii look at my last video

  • @SemiToneBlew agree

  • gracias por esta musica tan hermosa

  • I like #1 better.

  • WHO are the 2 D*ckHeads that gave this thumbs down!

  • @xoio the people who gave it thumbs down are rival composers

  • @finnwesjohn Reggaeton people maybe....

  • Amongst one of the most beautful things I've ever heard.

  • Indeed, one of the finest pieces I've ever heard from Satie or any other contemporary/ stylistically and aesthetically similar to Satie (one could say: Mozart or Beethoven).

  • @JesusCristo2002 mozart and beethoven? totally different era dude.

  • this is really one of his very best !

  • Fantastico! muchas gracias DistantMirrors^^

  • In my opinion i like this one because it sounds more emotional and deep like your in Paris. :D

  • The first one will always be my favorite, but this comes pretty close, it's amazing.

  • it appeared in louis malle's "le feu follet" opening scene...

  • Remedios Varo great!!!!!

  • what choice should i make when buying this on itunes because there are so many artists versions!

  • @Faragnigskni ill give u all of them for 2

  • *presses soccer ball icon. now we're talkin'

  • @icanfeelthebeat Buahahaha!!

  • the first part of the melody is the kind of woman that makes the toughest man cry

  • I love the music and the picture

  • Wonderful.

  • que bella melodia, tan sutil, tan dulce

  • This is my favorite of the Gymnopedie's, It feels more passionate than number 1 (which is one of the most beautiful songs ever penned)

  • según lo que se, esta podría ser la pianista Evelin Crochet, de acuerdo a la interpretación y sonido de la grabación que fue publicada por Salvat en los 80´s

  • this is a wonderful version. fans of this piece should also check out the version by John Williams (classical guitarist). that version is my favorite.

  • These sounds are so inexplicable. No one can explain why they are so beautiful. I like to think of this sort of mysteriously bigger-than-life type of art as being the most divine thing any of us shall ever experience.

  • une musique d'une puretée incroyable

    j'adore les gymnopédies de Satie

  • I'm learning to play this piece.......it is soooo beautiful!!

  • I am going to play No. 1 of this beautiful piece tomorrow for my Piano Mid-term, and while I hope to do the song justice, I hope to play all three pieces by the end of the school year. This piece truly touched me, and made me feel emotions I didn't know existed, and no piece of music can compare in my opinion. I wish I could have met Erik Satie himself. Pure Genius.

  • yah people this is pure bliss, it has got me through some hard times, all of Gnossienne is a work of art, there is really nothing else like it wonderful in it's simplicity!!!!

  • This is the real music... I'ts like a life. Like searching the meaning of life... I feel happiness, sadness, clumsiness, anxiety, fear, puerility and HOPE... So simple but very strong... It reminds me my childhood's less remembered moments...

  • @kingofskateop your comment really touched me, beautiful just like the music :)

  • i heard this song in the movie "mr. nobody" , so beautiful.

  • @deviantsounds good representation! i feel that way exactly even though i never looked at it quite like that. this piece is extremely haunting to me....beautiful beyond words.

  • this is the peice that sounds most sad of the three

  • yeah you're right but it's very emotional :')

  • @spongebobgeekable

I find the first one is the one that sounds the sadest.

This seems more like... "there's hope" or something. But everyone feels different stuff, so... :)

  • Every year when the winther is coming to an end, i always pull out no.1 and 3., Some how i feel they represent my saddens due to winther leaving, tho summer and the nice heat is approaching. I guess it really wake's me from my hibernation, and shake's my emotions in shape for the summer

  • Never gets old, this one.

  • I would not say a lot of hard work made this piece, when you can create like this, it naturally comes.

Though I must admit, it's sure one to soak to for all it's worth.

  • so amazing :D

  • I can play this. A lot of hard work and love for the piece made it possible. (:

  • Gymnopedie and gnossienne. Are they the same thing?

  • no it isnt

  • nop, different works

  • I really like this song and picture, but I like them much more when they're together

  • Who's the artist of those pictures?

  • un hombre peculiar, SAtie...

  • @seanalbion20 Same for your spelling "to" did you mean "too"? As in Also? wonderfull? Good thing this song is so "beautifull."

  • Shut the fuck-up twat

  • @seanalbion20 LOL! Glad to see you erased your illiterate comment. And to think you made it to 30. Street sweeper?

  • @seanalbion20 Oh, and no "-" (hyphen) is needed between "fuck" and "up". Pretty elementary.

  • Erik Satie was one of the greatest composers of his time. What an incredibly evocative piece.

  • I love these Gymnopedie songs <3 I played Gymnopedie # 3 with my friend. She played Piano and I played Oboe and It was beautiful <3 Made my band teacher cry. Love love love it!!

  • its so beautiful. sigh.

  • Does anyone know the name and artist of the picture?

  • Remedios Varo? It's in the description ->

  • Remedios Varo

  • Makes me think of a scene in a story I'm writing. Very inspirational.

  • this always reminds me of a beach or a swamp

  • I cant find the words to describe what I feel when Iisten to it... all I know is that it brings a light smile upon my face and I can close my eyes and know everything is well, in peace and love :)

  • Beautiful. Absolutely fantastic.

  • So calming... love it.

  • Love this composer to study with... seems to help my memory and concerntration.

  • @TheWisemonkey8 I know exactly what you mean.

  • yes... that is happening to me too...there may be some cientific studies about it.... let me know if you get to know something

  • Ah, the picture reminds me of a dream I had a while back.

This song...it makes me think that I can understand all the mysteries of this world, it makes me feel like there are so many wonderful things in this world to be discovered beyond what we can see and perceive.

LOL now I am going into my symbolic self. :D I am going to have to go write some poetry!

  • I've written 2 pieces of poetry due to this song already. Just found it a couple of days ago.

  • So true! Also there are many wonderfuls things that we can see and perceive, people to know places to go to, and this song just makes me think about that

  • 1:20

  • si quieres escuchar musica que se filtre por las emosiones y llegue a lo mas profundo de ti y de ahi ragrese asia afuera atravesandolo todo, emociones y pensamiento, como si lo sacara todo a la vista, satie, es una de las mejores opciones

  • @oscargomezgonzalez Sabiduria.

  • very nice

  • the mood is so ambivalent. i love it.

  • m i would say my favorite is the fifth..because it somehow manages to be happy and sad at the same time, but this one is beautiful still

  • your thinking the Gnossieme's. He only wrote three pieces when writing the Gymnopedia's.

  • Anyone else loving the paintings DistantMirror has accompanying Erik Satie's music? Makes me feel something I can't really describe (a haunting mix of the way you feel when dreaming a long dream and, for some reason, nostalgia). Wish I knew the artist behind them.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • The painting is called "The Flutist" by Remedios Varo

This painting is just amazing... I also cannot describe how it makes me feel. its the perfect painting to accompany this song i think. Good job to DistantMirror.

  • Thanks for replying nashenas.

    P.S.

Ah, stupid me, the artist is in the description.

  • It's close to nostalgia, but you can't put your finger on it, am I right? It's nearer to loss I suppose. Loss when it's in minor key, then it switches to major and confuses the emotion. Then you give a (melancholic(?)) smile to yourself? It's a bitter-sweet feeling that will bring you back to this music for the rest of your life. Cheers my friend.

  • so sad and sweet. makes me want to curl upin a ball and weep for allof my sins.i love it

  • high pitch is the more beautiful sound i think

  • no.1 is the best then this (but they are close) .. two doesnt have quite as much .. kinda passionate and emotional edge to it.

  • I agree!

  • Luv piano...but why are these high tones so loud, it tug my ears...

  • Just amazing.......I cant choose between no. 1 and no. 3.....

    no.2's not that great.

  • yhh, my favourite used to be 1,, but now i just have more respect for 3,, sounds so clear

  • SAME HERE!!! I used to love number one until i was introduced to number 3. : )

  • 日本人です この曲探してました 有難う

    my home Japanesque

    Gymnopedia No 3 thank you!

  • i haven't heard this one until now, but i heard the first and i didn't think there could be a sadder song, but this one is, i think.

  • Beautiful. Merci beaucoup.

  • Chiudi gli occhi e chi hai perso per sempre e come se per un'attimo sia ritornato vicino a te!

  • Your channel rocks, Anna!!!

  • beautiful.

  • favourite!

  • Mmm.... I think this should be a little slower, and maybe a little softer?

    Other than that, it's wonderful!

  • listen to part 1 or 2, especially part 1. I think you'll find what you're looking for :)

  • yeah. maybe the mic. was too close.

  • Une oeuvre magistral d'Erik Satie

  • What's the artistical school of Remedios Varo,Dorothea Tanning,Giorgio de Chirico and André Masson?

  • This is my favorite recording of this piece. It is wonderful, especially the slight accelerandos in measures 6-8. I listen to this piece for inspiration and relaxation.

However, you should give credit to Wikipedia (or wherever you got the info about this piece from) if you didn't write it yourself.

    Thanks for posting!

  • My favourite of all the Gymnopedies. The first one sets the mood. The second one lets you reflect. The third one is an emotional melancholic and meandering cascade. Very powerful. Thanks for all these great videos my friend, I enjoy all of them.

  • i love this video! does anyone know what the image is called?

  • It's "The Flutist".

  • thanks *^.^

  • @DistantMirrors Perhaps you should include not only the artist of the artwork, but the artworks specific name :)

  • @DistantMirrors who is the painting by? i have looked for it

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard

  • I love this song... and I think that image fits it kind of well^^

But I really do prefer when Gymnopedie nr3 Is played more slowly^^

  • I agree, I prefer to play it slightly slower, very powerful piece, my fave of all 3!

  • Anna, I love your work. Two thumbs up!

  • more like 14 lol

  • 15 now!!
