this song has taught me alot on so many levels you guys may think i sound weird but this song is my most favorite song i like better when theres violins ceillos flutes and etc. i no i spelled ciello wrong ok
@beatproducerken Google mutopia project. From that site you can download the sheets for this piece from the piano category (actually not sure if it is exactly the same version, tho). Hope that helps :)
I love Gymnopedie No 1 as I play this on my Korg piano, from the Kenneth Baker Complete piano book 5. I never knew, there was even a Gynopedie No 2, until my son pointed this out to me recently. These are without doubt some of the most beautiful and haunting melodies you'll find anywhere. And wonderfully played with dynamics and expression. Stunning!
Indeed, one of the finest pieces I've ever heard from Satie or any other contemporary/ stylistically and aesthetically similar to Satie (one could say: Mozart or Beethoven).
según lo que se, esta podría ser la pianista Evelin Crochet, de acuerdo a la interpretación y sonido de la grabación que fue publicada por Salvat en los 80´s
this is a wonderful version. fans of this piece should also check out the version by John Williams (classical guitarist). that version is my favorite.
These sounds are so inexplicable. No one can explain why they are so beautiful. I like to think of this sort of mysteriously bigger-than-life type of art as being the most divine thing any of us shall ever experience.
I am going to play No. 1 of this beautiful piece tomorrow for my Piano Mid-term, and while I hope to do the song justice, I hope to play all three pieces by the end of the school year. This piece truly touched me, and made me feel emotions I didn't know existed, and no piece of music can compare in my opinion. I wish I could have met Erik Satie himself. Pure Genius.
yah people this is pure bliss, it has got me through some hard times, all of Gnossienne is a work of art, there is really nothing else like it wonderful in it's simplicity!!!!
This is the real music... I'ts like a life. Like searching the meaning of life... I feel happiness, sadness, clumsiness, anxiety, fear, puerility and HOPE... So simple but very strong... It reminds me my childhood's less remembered moments...
@deviantsounds good representation! i feel that way exactly even though i never looked at it quite like that. this piece is extremely haunting to me....beautiful beyond words.
Every year when the winther is coming to an end, i always pull out no.1 and 3., Some how i feel they represent my saddens due to winther leaving, tho summer and the nice heat is approaching. I guess it really wake's me from my hibernation, and shake's my emotions in shape for the summer
I love these Gymnopedie songs <3 I played Gymnopedie # 3 with my friend. She played Piano and I played Oboe and It was beautiful <3 Made my band teacher cry. Love love love it!!
I cant find the words to describe what I feel when Iisten to it... all I know is that it brings a light smile upon my face and I can close my eyes and know everything is well, in peace and love :)
Ah, the picture reminds me of a dream I had a while back.
This song...it makes me think that I can understand all the mysteries of this world, it makes me feel like there are so many wonderful things in this world to be discovered beyond what we can see and perceive.
LOL now I am going into my symbolic self. :D I am going to have to go write some poetry!

Anyone else loving the paintings DistantMirror has accompanying Erik Satie's music? Makes me feel something I can't really describe (a haunting mix of the way you feel when dreaming a long dream and, for some reason, nostalgia). Wish I knew the artist behind them.
The painting is called "The Flutist" by Remedios Varo
This painting is just amazing... I also cannot describe how it makes me feel. its the perfect painting to accompany this song i think. Good job to DistantMirror.
It's close to nostalgia, but you can't put your finger on it, am I right? It's nearer to loss I suppose. Loss when it's in minor key, then it switches to major and confuses the emotion. Then you give a (melancholic(?)) smile to yourself? It's a bitter-sweet feeling that will bring you back to this music for the rest of your life. Cheers my friend.
This is my favorite recording of this piece. It is wonderful, especially the slight accelerandos in measures 6-8. I listen to this piece for inspiration and relaxation.
However, you should give credit to Wikipedia (or wherever you got the info about this piece from) if you didn't write it yourself.
My favourite of all the Gymnopedies. The first one sets the mood. The second one lets you reflect. The third one is an emotional melancholic and meandering cascade. Very powerful. Thanks for all these great videos my friend, I enjoy all of them.
