Hello John's mom! You are so amazing to do this!! I just lost my mom last month. (I know, it sounds like I took her to the mall and now can't find her...but it's just too soon to say the "d" word.) When I came out, a long time ago. my mom disowned me and we didn't have a relationship for a very long time. She didn't actually meet my man, the LOVE OF MY LIFE until just after we'd celebrated our 20th anniversary. Luckily we mended the fence and were able to move on. She knew I loved her.
I LOVE your mom! I wish i had parents like your's!!! My parents are raging homo-phobics and after i came out to them they disowned me, and i almost took my life because of it. And if anyone is thinking that it would be better to kill yourself because of being gay, lesbian, or bisexual then let me tell you something: Be who you are let people know and if they cant accept you then fuck them. Don't let them take you down. find people who do accept you and don't let go! it gets better.

That doesn't mean that I had to like her treatment of me (she rid our house of all traces of me and denied my existence), or accept any abuse. She eventually came around but it took a long time. Eventually I stopped trying and let her deal with it. I fell in love & made a life for myself apart from my family. Be strong!

he came over... he came into my room and saw that i was crying...
he knelt down and hugged me and whispered words of encouragement...
and 2 hours later... i walked out of my room with bobby following me...
and got my parents onto the loveseat and i stood in front of them with bobby just one step behind me... and i told them i have something to tell them...

My mother has the belief of "love your children no matter what", but she still has a problem with it, because she throws religion in with it. It makes me so angry, she doesn't understand how ridiculous is is that "God" would create me this way and also send me to hell for it. It infuriates me.
When i told my family i was gay they asked if i believed in god. So I told them I believe God loves his children unconditionally and does not discriminate against people with same-sex attractions. A plan of my parents was to have me talk to a priest which back-fired on them. After talking to me he sat down with them and told them God judges me by the good acts I do, and that simply living a homosexual lifestyle wouldn't get me sent to hell.

I want you to know your mom is the perfect example of parents that have LGBT Children, they should always love and support kids no matter what it is. My parents always knew i was, i think its more of they have always known but they are kind of in denile or they just want you to come to them and open up. This mom is wonderful, my mom felt the same way, I love it when parents are like this. I know it is hard to come out, but have hope! Parents love their children. End of story. Even if it takes them some time to accept you, they never stop loving you.

You are a lucky man John and for people who are in closet I always say if you have to relay on your parents and you think they make kick you out then do what is safe for you, not all parents are going to react like this amazing women. Ms. what if every time i talk to her, she just don't understand it and cuts in? My family is a bit different; nobody apologizes, blames it on one another, and takes the anger out on others in the family? Yes, i did think of commiting suicide b4, and once my mom caught me once & dared me to do it while screaming at me. Every day is just what "I did wrong", and calculates the bill to me every day over the dinner table kinda conversation, really one sided...sigh...

Cierto da miedo hablar, 1 vez que se logra controlar y se tiene la suerte de tener unos padres asi, todo es mas facil. X suerte fue lo q me paso hace poco- Its true, its scary to talk, but once you control that fear and have the luck of having parents like this ones, everything is easier. Luckly, this happened to me few weeks ago, now i talk to them whenever i need to and i feel really supported, its a great new world for me and thanks to them, will be more easy and safe for me to learn about it

at this point phobic parents say more about the parent than the child...kudos to Mom for being so relaxed and cool - she obviously has the metal and emotional health to know you have your own life and feeilings...and sexuality -- most parents dont - heres a great question for you - why do guys have to come out ?? why do we live in a country where fascist ideas about sexuality and gender still exist and why do haters always think that you are responsible to their hate ??

My parents always knew i was, i think its more of they have always known but they are kind of in denile or they just want you to come to them and open up. I always knew i was gay but didn't really accept myself till i was about 14 or 15 then came out to like the world hahah when i was about 16 ish, and i can honestly say that was the best feeling ever =]

there wwas this gay couple walking down the street and my parents were like "if any of you kids are gay, we're kicking you out." and they laughed... I was 13 and i knew i was gay at th time. Its traumatic knowing that ur parents hate u if they knew. Ur lucky to have a mom & dad like urs are. :/

This mom is wonderful, my mom felt the same way, I love it when parents are like this. I know it is hard to come out, but have hope! Parents love their children. End of story. Even if it takes them some time to accept you, they never stop loving you.
My heart goes out to all the closet-dwellers, may you soon abandon your cramped prisons and come have tea and cupcakes with the rest of us. I just stepped out myself, and oh my, the weather is lovely out here. Lots of love!

You are a lucky man John and for people who are in closet I always say if you have to relay on your parents and you think they make kick you out then do what is safe for you, not all parents are going to react like this amazing women. But maybe they will, but you know them best you can test the waters, as long as its safe.

Ms. what if every time i talk to her, she just don't understand it and cuts in? My family is a bit different; nobody apologizes, blames it on one another, and takes the anger out on others in the family? Yes, i did think of commiting suicide b4, and once my mom caught me once & dared me to do it while screaming at me. Every day is just what "I did wrong", and calculates the bill to me every day over the dinner table kinda conversation, really one sided...sigh...
