LA is a joke .Rams never experienced true home field advantage there, they had their diehards but it wasn't enough..the town is too much of a MELTINGPOT! always too many of the opposing teams fans in the stadium. Big risk for any owner to move a team there. And how long did it take the ST.LOUIS Rams to win when they moved to Missouri???
The amazing thing about this Rams teamwas they won at New England, Philadelphia, and New York all back-back-back. That was an amazing feat. it just turned out they palyed in the same division with the 49ers. They were competitive withe 49ers in the 80's but the 90's it went down hill. the irony of the Rams move is they have caused all these other teams to get new stadiums now they are falling behind in revenue. They may indeed end up in L.A at some point in the near future here.
Yup I couldn't agree with you more a7b7c78, I was a 4th Generation Los Angeles Rams fan and to go through what we did in 1994 was a complete disgrace. Somehow we started feeling like the Brookyn Dodgers fans did in the late 50's. Sad but we walked through Anahiem Staduim not too long ago and nothing was left of the old Football team that once played there.
What is funny is that St. Louis was up for the same expansion spot that Jacksonville won 15 years ago. That would be ironic if the Jags ended up there. I don't want to see any community lose their team, because my Pittsburgh Penguins have had several threats of leaving throughout their history, but I am not sure that Jacksonville should have ever gotten a team. The 90's was a decade of mistakes as far as expansion and franchise relocation was concerned.
Good comment and it's possible. Rumors is that the Rams are for Sale and there are two private owners who are interested that live/are located in Los Angeles. The Jaguars are not even close to selling out games in Jax and the play in a no name staduim. Sad for such a promising Team in the Jaguars.
Rams homes games in St. Louis are starting to look like Anaheim stadium did in 1991 thru 1994. The sad thing is that John Shaw is still driving the Rams into the ground. The Rams are now for sale and only time can tell if someone can buy them and make them successful again. Who knows but I hate to see the St. Louis Rams fans go through what the Los Angeles Rams Fans went through in early 90's. Sad, different City with the same story of the same team from the same people involved.
The Rams would have been at least two time Super Bowl Champions in the late 80's and early 90's. But it didn't happen that way. Remember it was Ernie Zampese who was running the Explosive Offensive, he was the Mike Martz of that era. This is no joke and I'm writing a book along with Fred Dryer,
former KMPC sports talk radio Charlie Tuna and many other Rams great to shed some light on what really drove the Rams out of Los Angeles. In St. Louis you can now see that the honeymoon is over too.
What happened. Rams fall to 5-11 after coming off a great 11-5 season in 1989. There is a lot that went behind the scenes that the Rams Front Office didn't want to let the fans know. She was cheap and did not want to spend her that she earned money in getting by killing her Husband. Jim Everett was a Good young QB and Dickerson was on his game in 1986 and who knows what would have happened if instead of Greg Bell running for the Rams in 1986 thru 1989. It would have been Dickerson. May be...
Fred Dryer, David Deacon Jones, Vince Ferragamo, Jack Youngblood and many others with the Rams knew what she was doing. The false promises of leaving the name and the colors to Los Angeles was all planned out. The same way she killed Carroll Rosenbloom is the same way she weasled out of L.A. She used John Robinson and Chuck Knox as excuses for the Team loses. I'm living proof that was not the case. The Rams and The Bengals were picked by SI to go to the Super Bowl in 1990. We all know...
Rams to her hometown of St. Louis. She won a Super Bowl and dedicated the Trophy to all the Rams fan in St. Louis only that waited for years for a championship. WHAT??? That was a nice F**k You to Los Angeles Rams fans on that day. Anyhow, John Shaw made the Draft picks in the 90's along with Jay. Not John Robinson and/or Chuck Knox. She wanted that team she put on the field because it was a sure thing it was going to get her out of L.A. due to the lack of Fan base.
Georgia FrontandReary and John the Jackass Shaw. Two people that know NOTHING about football very wise business people but stupid when it came to running a football team. Carroll Rosenbloom was a smart man, Dan Reeves ( Not the Denver Brocos/Falcons coach)were smart football men. John Shaw blamed everyone but himself and GM Jay Zygmunt for the Rams Declind in the early 90's. Georgia knew that her lease was coming to an end in Anahiem Stadium and she was able to make more money if she moved the..
madrecka, in 1992 the Los Angeles Rams were a 6-10 team, 93 they went 5-11, 94 their last year in Los Angeles they were 4-12 and in the first year in St. Louis they were 7-9. Now as a former Director of PR for the Los Angeles Rams from 1972 thru 1994. I can tell you that the 50's the 60's 70's and the 80's were successful years for the Rams. Alot of the blame goes not to John Robinson or Chuck Knox or Jim Everett, Eric Dickerson, Greg Bell, Kevin Greene, Henry Ellard and so forth. Two names...
well Dallas won Super Bowl XXVII('92), Super Bowl XXVIII('93), and Super Bowl XXX('95) in the '90s.
I'm a Niners fan and they're the only team in the '90s that beat Dallas in their run from '92 through '95 winning it all after the '94 Season by winning Super Bowl XXIX over the Chargers.
The Rams were terrible then what was their record in '92, '93, '94 and '95? Any Rams fan can tell me? I know they were sorry?
This is a major reason the Rams are in St.Louis! John Robinson is a SOB! Dirty politician! He's a nasty human being! He encouraged the team to trade Dickerson instead of giving him the money he deserved. Robo was looking to give him self a raise with the money they saved on Dickerson! This led to the trade of Dickerson and paved the way to St. Louis in one of the most crooked deals in sports history!Just like The movie Major League! Robo is a Nazi!
stop smokin crack! You obviously are a Rams fan who got tired of SF beating the crap out of the Rams what was it like 18 straight until '99?
What one corner held Rice down? No one. The only way teams defeneded the Niners passing game was to apply pressure to Montana or Young and play great zone against Rice and Taylor.
Since Rice was held down by Gray as you say. Damn what happened in Dec. '89 when Taylor took 2 slants passes from Montana and went 90+ yds after the catch for TD's against LA?
Taylor went nuts on that MNF game, but Irvin and Henley were on him. When Gray was in his prime in 1988 & '89, he could hold Rice down. In the 5 games the 2 played in those 2 years, Rice had 0 TDs.
Amazing how you changed the subject when the guy brought up some stats to back his argument. Yes the Niners won, but Jerry Rice had 6 catches for 55 yards...and no TD's. Guitarjosh has a valid argument...I hate stupid 49er fans
Stop dude...really. You Niner fans are so fucking annoying dude. I said it once and I'll say it again. You Niners fans, all you talk about is what you did in the 80's. To put it in perspective, you sound like a "packers fan in the 80's, talking shit of you did in the 60's". You WERE a good team, PAST TENSE.
The Niners won 4 Super Bowls in the '80s and 1 in the '90s.
The Rams never and will never dominate a decade like the Niners,Packers,Steelers and Cowboys. Never! Your Rams are a 2nd rated football organization. Except for '99 what do you Rams have? Don't say the '70s: you'll couldn't beat the Vikings and Cowboys; '80s: The Niners would beat you up. Lets not talk about the '90s after the Chris Everett episode.

I agree, the Niners were pretty great, winning 5 titles in 14 years(81-94), but why does everyone say that Dallas dominated the
90's? They were only dominant until 1995. After that, they were mediocre the last four years of the decade.

I'll give Jerry Gray his credit; like i said he was a Pro Bowl Corner. He was probably the best defensive player the Rams had in the late '80s.
They couldn't match up with SF anyway.
So Gray the Rams best defensive player was put on Rice. But the Niners were too talented for them to stop.
Anyway we await the 2008 season. Both teams are looking up to Seattle and maybe Arizona in the NFC West.
