  • what type of music is this??

  • @XxwordsofhopexX pure awesomeness! for real I just call it fingerstyle guitar

  • the paranormal activity 3 ad fucking ruined this for me

  • I love how the title fits the gentle ebb and flow of this song

  • @MrWaffleSwag really? dude you listen to fake ass music that doesn't have real instruments, whose singers are monotone and are autotuned, and can't appreciate someone with talent? Fuck off dickwad. -_-

Instead of ranting on a song that has a meaning go listen to your stupid garbage nigga breh bitches hoes drugs alcohol of what you call 'music' you damn mainstream faggot.

  • @XxSpatsaAddictxX

what the hell is liking that kind of music? and didnt you just rant about his music? Leave everyones musical preferences alone

  • Forgive me if I wasn't staring at his fingers or reading the comments the whole time... I couldn't stop staring at those lights! We're always told not to stare into the light, but it looks like I lost... damnit!!

  • my gf has really long hair so this song reminds me of her :)

  • That last note gets me every time... Man I love this stuff

  • I wonder what his inspiration for this song was, including the name

  • Guys, What happened to The Nurse? I've been looking for it

  • this guitar has never been touched before.

  • While your learning that high-E thats tuned up to F# can sound pretty nasty if your not getting it right.

  • whats the tuning on this one, anyone know?

  • @Smithy2099 E B C# D# B F

    crazy tuning lol

  • ah, I can see my reflection! :D

  • They should deffinately research genetic engineering to a point where they can inject good talent into the genes of bad mainstream artists and make the world a better place

  • @cuff82292 haha

  • absolutely beautiful. simply amazing, i can't help but to wonder what his inspiration behind this song was. It can't possibly be girls with longer hair..

  • @elshwanko lol thats like "chet your hedges". i can just imagine him sitting in his garden with a guitar looking at a hedge and suddenly becoming all inspired

  • Aweeeesome

  • Elixer Polyweb Medium Gauges seem to pay for themselves for me. I have bought 3 packs of cheaper strings that all last just as long as one set of elixers give or take some depending on the stress I put on them, but when I play my guitar I generally tune it quite often from one odd tuning to another. Also if you can't buy strings in singles where you live and you tend to break the high e or b strings a lot, buy a cheap 12 string set* to replace your GBE strings with. (*If you aren't gauge picky)

  • theres always a couple tone deaf jackass with no taste in music that gotta hit that dislike button huh?

  • @warl0ckrevenge I chose to believe it was people who were SO drunk, they missed the like button.

    How do you dislike this?

  • Hold on real quick while I buy this on itunes...

  • that was frickin sweet!

  • shiny guitar geez

  • beautiful as always

  • great piece, as usual. would try to learn it if i didnt have to tune my 4th string down to D...

  • Yeahhy I get Guitar pro Tabs '"]

  • Im not sure how one creates this, but wow..i need to connect like this

  • essence of beauty.. that is your music..

  • Here I go again breaking strings trying to play a candyrat artists song, obviously making some novice mistakes here!

Anyway, what an inspiration, I love your music.

  • @chadt1 hahaha i think its the crazy tunings that do it, especially it tunings like ecg where you're tuning higher than standard

  • @chadt1

I had this problem man! try buying some d'addario EXP 17 strings, medium guage. They sound awesome and are alot stronger!

  • @JTFingerstyle Have you tried EJ17s too?

  • @chadt1 If you're serious about the strings breaking you might want to check the nut and bridge and see if there are any sharp spurs that are causing them to break. Strings are extremely tough so they shouldn't really break from playing these songs unless you are pulling and tugging super hard, at least in my experience. I usually only break strings when tuning a step or step and a half up, but that's to be expected.

  • @cephalic I assume chadtt is speaking about the tuning of the song, which has the high e tuned up to an F#.

  • this is amazing stuff i love everything your do!!!! :d Can't wait for my getting used to isolation CD and i dont think im gonna hesitate getting your other stuff either your BRILLIANT! you make me relax and see the good in life :) THANKYOU!

  • shiny shiny guitar !!!

  • sugoi!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Oh and into the favourites it goes =)

  • When i got into Don Ross, Andy Mckee, Antoine Dufour etc... (you know the crew), i looked upon Craig D'Andrea as a sort of underdog, but not anymore! This last lear listening to his stuff, i am just so impressed. The chorus of this song is just so beautiful, its just wow! Im going to enjoy listening to it once again. Glen

  • Yeah i agree... Its all in the harmonics in my opinion.. Lol

  • the scary part is that he can only get better : )

  • Man I'm just burning with jealous rage, lol just kidding but I do wish I could write songs like this.

  • I've been trying to hunt down great guitarists, and i'm very impressed with your work

  • Excelente guitarrista!!!

  • how old is he?

  • He´s 24.

  • I'm trying to learn this....so far i can play like the first 20 seconds...very sloppily. It's gonna be a hard bunch of weeks.

  • same here...i started learning it yesterday and i know about the first 20 seconds too lol. i tuned it back to standard to play some other songs but when i tuned the high e to play this song again, it snapped...a 5 day old acoustic and already a string broke! im getting a buttload of extra strings tomorrow

  • Holy shit I thought I was the only one... I have broken two High E's from this damn song lol

  • hey what's the tuning for this song?

  • EBC#D#BF#

  • keep the practise up dude:) you'll be so happy when you can nail this one:)

  • Rockin

  • Great sound!

  • hm nice stuff I'm impressed, if I hadn't just bought a bunch of Andrew White I would pick up some of his as well. Probably will sooner or later as well as Erik Turnbull. Awesome artists.

  • yeah when i play i almost only use my ring finger it just feels lighter against the strings.the day i can write songs like this though are a long way off.

  • it sounds like a song you'd make to say sorry to someone. Its so remorseful.

  • Yeah.. :(

  • I could definitely hear some mournful singing to this song.

  • some of the fun things i've noticed are the different artist's favorite fingers when it comes to playing harmonics. for example, mckee loves using his middle finger when playing harmonics (watch any of his videos, he uses it almost exclusively) and apparently craig prefers to use his ring finger. I think dufour likes to use his ring finger too. not sure about don ross, ima go check it out.

  • Wow, L0wps, thats pretty perceptive of you. I bet you're a good guitar player. ;)

  • aha, never really thought about it that way, but when you point it out its quite obvious but it makes sense i pretty much only use my ring finger i guess it really depends on which finger you learned how to do it wtih

  • i thought andy mckee was in a class of his own, but this dude is right there with him. candyrat is legit as fuck

  • @DrGonzoACJ true fax.

  • I love this song.

    Its so relaxing!

  • Awesome song, love how the guitar is all shiny lol

Btw he reminds me of how Mick Thomson sits and plays his guitar (not meant to be offensive in any way or form or comparable to his music.)

  • its called classical guitar position, the guitar is put on the left leg rather than the right and the neck is elevated, it is a position that allows for better finger and hand movement on the neck but sacrifice's strumming ability so you can finger pick.

  • dont need to know what it is.. just was sayin how it reminds me of mick..

  • haha

  • Thank you for sharing I never knew that :D. And no I'm not being sarcastic.

  • look how nice the guitar shines...

  • I want your babies

  • those harmonics at the end are just unreal

  • I love this song. I have a big crush on Craig. I wonder what he means by girls longer hair though? Personally, I, myself have long hair. I wonder what girls with short hair would think of this song.

  • lmaoo

    thank you.

  • ya need something to pull

  • This actually brings to mind the girl I had a crush on back when I was in high school. She had the longest hair of anyone I knew and it was perfect. Went with her drop dead gorgeous face perfectly! The funny part is we're now friends almost 7 years later. lol

  • I want that guitar so bad.

  • 1:26 to 1:30 is my favorite

  • Andy's protege =P

  • hahaha

  • That was a very nice song!

  • love the harmonics at the end

  • Dank that thing is shiny

  • no its just the light

  • amazing love it bro

  • Reminds me of a younger Phil Keaggy. But with hair. LOL

    Good song, fo sho

  • Watch Craig's face. Says it all. He's so hip to what he's playing.

  • Nice sounds and very original...a bit repetitious, though.

  • It seems a lot of people Candyrats signs has a lot of repetition in their music. But one way or another, they always sound nice, even if they're not different every other "verse".

  • it may be a bit repetitive but i got a way at looking at it. In the 1980-1990s hip hop artists had a loop of their instrumental and then they just mc'd over it. In some respect this is the "loop" that you would hear in old school hip hop. It's nice but sometimes you don't need to add something different everytime...just listen again and i will be happy:)

  • minimalism is a basic tendency in "mass" music of the 20th/21st century... if you don't count jazz in.

  • could of been good

  • This is amazing. =D

  • Has anyone suused out the tuning for this song?

  • yeah its EBC#D#BF but i usually tune it a whole tone lower with a capo on the second fret

  • Are you sure about that last one? I play it in EBC#D#BF#.

  • That's the correct tuning.

  • where do you guys get the tabs from? i've been wanting to play this stuff for ages..!

  • You can buy tabs off candyrat(dot)com. $15 for 3 tabs (plus mp3's). Alternatively, you could turn to fan-made tabs on sites such as ultimate-guitar(dot)com, but they're not made D'Andrea himself so not all of them are 100% accurate.

  • Shiniest guitar ever!

  • Yea, looks like he's got lubricant or some shit on it xD haha The guitar is almost see-through ^^

  • I like the extra harmonics he throws in at the end. This song has a real nice story behind it. As do most of his other songs, too.

  • it really is a beautiful song. wonderful, it makes me feel at peace even when the most hectic things are happening in my life. even a suicidal person would stop to listen and close their eyes to this song

  • Highly excellent.

  • This is a great guitar to have. I own one. It is a LOT of fun to play. Only other guitar I want is a Kevin Ryan

  • what kind of guitar is it? it sounds really nice

  • It's a Stonebridge.

  • Start saving your pennies. One of two availble on his website goes for $24,000!!

    Holy guitar strings, wingman!!!

  • some nice time changes,3/4 5/4 and 4/4

  • sorry buddy... it's in 4/4... i think the syncopation of it is throwing you off a little bit...

  • Ok mate, count 3/4 for 1 bar and then 5/4 for bar 2 then repeat and then, and only then count 4/4.Nice one.

  • lmao.

  • Amazing song! Just love it. But I think the guitar is too shiny, you can actually see the lights. That's what I think.

  • well i don't think it's shiny enough lol

  • Ahh. What a beautiful guitar. I will be the owner of that model (23-CR-G) soon. Its a great instrument. Craig is awesome. I enjoy his music very much. In this song he creates a very pleasing and satisfyingly full sound.

    Play on.

    Thomas William

  • I'm jealous. =(

  • how many guitars does this guy own!? he deserves them because he is an awesome player but damn!

  • holy shit

    this is amazing

  • look at the gloss on that shit. beautiful guitar.

  • Wow, that was amazing. Awesome song!

  • A year ago, when Craig was first added to the list, I really wasn't liking what he did. After really jumping into the world of fingerstyle guitar, this sounds much more beautiful then when I first heard him.

  • so what if its simple, it still sounds beautiful. Since when does music have to be "hard" just to be good???

  • WOW! That is FINE! You sound like a whole band...a whole beautiful band!

  • oh thats lovely. sounds like andy mckee

  • Wow..

  • I hate that my comment doesn't go under the person I replied too but.. whatever still wow.

  • does anyone know the tuning?

  • theres a power tab for this on 911tabs

  • How do you learn this style of guitar?

  • its fingerstlye just look it up on google or youtube

  • i bet even you can play better than him. not.

  • @ stowe 2546 -

it's a composition, not a competition. Craig won the 2007 Canadian fingerstyle championship, which shows how skilled he is at fingerstyle. I personally find this song better than most of his, and no I don't find it too difficult. It's the song first, showing off later.

  • Word. This song is beautiful, and its actually a fairly simple song to play. very simple actually, but it sounds incredible, composed perfect. one of my favorites to jam too =)

  • That was amazing! Beautiful sounding song.. I may have to transcribe it.

  • makes me fall asleep . in the good way :) its an amazing composition

  • no tom im not sure what you mean! how could anyone ever consider this annoying. i think there is just a little hint of jealousy there bud.

  • all music repeats right? well most of it does - It has to repeat if a melody is going to stick in someone's head.

  • I'm still not sure people are catching my drift. haha

Oh well. I still love the song, and all the others on youtube. It's just one little thing I noticed.

  • well, the fact is that this particular kind of instrumental guitar does use that repeating pattern, is kind of...well...the way it is. Even while you´re writing a song of this kind, repeating units 2 times seems like the most logical thing to do. You just let the song take it´s course...and that´s the way it goes almost all the time. When you get to that point, it´s a really nice feeling =p

I understand what you meant, and it´s true LOL

  • i get what youre saying. but its still a great tune. repeating is not bad :D.

  • ah !! thats a very shyny guitar !!

  • the only thing about his playing that I find somewhat annoying is that he almost always doubles up whatever he plays... if y'know what I mean.

  • Yeh certainly. Like that canada sad duet with antoine. The two are basically playing exactly the same thing.

  • One of D'andrea's best songs imo. The song is simple and clean, a nice melody wich truly sticks around in youre head awhile.

  • most definately

  • man i love this freakin' song!! i listen to it at least twice a day!! great job Craig ! you are the man!

  • Another good video keep it up

  • that was a great track, very well played. possibly my favourite from this artist...i need to listen to some others though.

    very talented

  • i love craig dandrea :-)

  • god damn where does candyrat find these prodigies D: im so jealous i wanna go pick up my guitar again but cant stop watching :/

  • Totally awesome, 00:53 stuck in my head all day. Love the fingerstyle guitar playing.

  • Craig. I do believe you just made love to that guitar. As a result, you may have just gotten me pregnant.

  • im in love

  • he's made of awsome

  • as a reply to what was said about his age, hes not fourteen hes 22

  • ya he's 22

  • OMG.. this rpoland guys bring me really down.. don't feel confident enough to even look at my guitar anymore... they realy must sit around all day long and do nothing else then playin the guitar... there techniques are realy impressing..

  • Actually when I played some of their songs at 2-3 in the morning it's not their technicity I was thinking about :)

Cheers from France Craig :) And Nice job

  • Dude, was he really raised by wolves? thats what it says on his candyrat profile thing

Great song by the way, i've listened to it way, way, way, too much

  • read my response to "delightfulspleen" below

  • Wow! You've got some talent my freind. I can't wait to see what you'll throw out in the future! Just get some insurance on your fingers or something! lol

    ~Aubrey

  • how young is this kid?

  • He is 14

  • :O

    CandyRat has spoken.... He's 14 :|

  • Woah are you serious! That's insanely cool. I wish I could play like that! Kudos to Craig

  • He's 22. Check out his own website!

  • this is really good... but i'm afraid, antoine dufour, don ross, andy mckee, did that before him.

So it sound like everyone, even if it sounds great

    :(
