@TheJackandbridie Like when the screen video fails. i seen that happen once when i was travelling on an A330 from dublin to shannon. the aircraft was continuing to boston
@oliverjumelle Have no idea. When I saw "K" in my seat number I wondered what they were using. Found myself on an A330.
I've been flying from Dublin to London Heathrow and back four times a year for the past ten years and every flight has been an A320 or A321. I was surprised that they used an A330 on this route as it is normally used for their transatlantic flights.
well i use to travel from shannon to bordeaux via dublin every summer when i was in school. the shannon to dublin leg was always an A330/200 or 300 series. the bordeaux leg was always an A320
I pissed myself laughing with the guy in the toilet. They've changed the video now but there used to be the guy in the toilet and someone slaps the smoke out of his hand hahaha
Great safety video! I love the animated character, and I like the music. It sounds a lot like Enya's "Orinoco Flow". And why not? An Irish song for an Irish airline!
thibaulthalpern: I was on an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Heathrow and the only Irish they used was "Failte" at the beginning of a few announcements :-P
Aer Lingus cabin crew make a short welcome on board announcement in Irish and the arrival announcement is also finished off in Irish. The Aer Lingus inflight magazine is named "Cara" which means "friend" and information pages in the magazine are in both English and Irish. The actual name of the airline, "Aer Lingus " translates into "Air Fleet" so they do use the national language quite a bit.
Well, that's not a lot of Irish. I mean, it's all fairly static except for the brief onboard welcome. The flight attendants don't speak Irish, I guess.
Well it's not widely spoken in Ireland, the percentage of Aer Lingus passengers who speak it must be very, very low but Aer Lingus do continue to acknowledge the language in various forms which is a lot more than can be said for other Irish companies. I believe it is Aer Lingus policy for cabin crew to know the announcements, on my recent flights Spanish and British crew members made announcements in Irish so Aer Lingus do make an effort to continue it's use on their flights.
@thibaulthalpern Well in fairness, what would be the point in them having their safety demonstrations or anything else for that matter, in Irish? When carrying passengers from all over Europe and the United States, who would understand? It would be pointless. They do as much as they can in the Irish language, but when it comes to safety, shouldn't they speak a language that the majority understand?
@thibaulthalpern They don't speak irish because a majority of people in Ireland haven't got a clue how to speak it. The language is dying out I suppose. Not many people are taking an interest in it. P.s: I am irish. :)
its no longer our national language, the british made sure of that, took em 800 years to beat it into us but when its speak ur native tounge, or have ur entire family tortured wiped out, and have your lands confiscated, then i think youd choose learn english 2
lol im not sure if this will help but flying is safe we had this study at school that more people die by getting kicked by a donkey then being in a plane crash.
besides you hear on the new's about a crash maybe 1 to 2 times a year :)
Aer Lingus is the second safest airline second to Qantas. i think the last aer lingus crash was a conspiracy due to people saying the british shot it down, anyway ive always got stuck on the shitty old ones with the overhead monitors, but i remember when leavin jfk @ 6:30 they played the simpsons, and on the way back some funny comedy shows
Aer Lingus are quite good, like most low cost airlines they charge for food and baggage but their service is much better. The seats are very comfortable leather with recline and adjustable headrests, the food on board is tasty but you do have to pay for it and the cabin crew are friendly and professional. You also get your seat assigned at check in so there is no rush for the plane at boarding like Easyjet and Ryanair. Try Aer Lingus out, I'm sure you'll have nice flights!
MilliVanilli2007: I'd say that for a low-fare airline, they are great. I had a choice between Ryanair and Aer Lingus once. It was a no-brainer. I chose to pay a few Euros more to fly Aer Lingus because I prefer to entrust my life to that airline. Plus, they landed in Heathrow with easy connections to London via the tube, rather than other London airports that require you to take a train or bus. Self-service check-in booths were a plus. And so was seat assignment.
"push forward the seat back in front of you"............ Typical Aer Lingus. Could have said it differently (Before people have a go, yes I know what it means, but George Carlin would have a field day with that!! :D)
Why are some of you referring to Aer Lingus as a low cost carrier, it is not.
