Pujol is in control of her technique as usual, and also projects the "joy" required for this piece. Balanchine is not about expressing emotions with the face, everything is to be expressed/ interpreted through movement, especially lower body movements. Pujol's arms are fine here, it's not like Balanchine gave her a lot to do with them in this PDD.
@icarrus4u I do know the origins of this pas de deux - that it was created for Anna Sobeshchanskaya for her debut in Swan Lake and then re-choreographed by Balanchine as an entirely independent ballet. But princessedulochness didn't know that and so she found strange that the dancers were not characterized as Odile and Siegfried.
I find this pas de deux wonderful! But why is the music at first the one of swan lake? !! or am I mistaking? I like Leatitia Pujol but i have to admit her arms are quite weird especially in her variation during the retirés it's ridiculous!!
@theamazingsoter Yes, the music of the whole pas de 2 is from Swan Lake but that's it, not the choreography nor costumes etc comes from Swan Lake that's what I thought was weird
I also felt that the dancing in general is quite emotionless. With such a powerful piece of music and such nice, flowy costumes, the expression of the dancers could have been much more emotional. They both looked like they were just getting through the steps.

@princessedulochness Still not understanding what you're trying to say. What do the costumes or choreography have to do with Swan Lake?

I do not like Laétita Pujol in this. Her arms are dreadful and the variation looked awkward.
