  • Better than the recording for sure. Bass sax.... you know it ! Lenny nails this song ! No one should ever so try cover this. This belongs to the Tof P !

  • Real music from real musicians !

  • @winterover79 Amen!!!

  • Ellis kills it! Right on!

  • so them live in Caloundra,Sunshine coast Brizzy.Australia.Bluddy Beautiful.

  • Love this song! It takes a real man with the true love of his women to sing this with such passion....

  • that hard

  • sounded good back then and still sounds good today

  • Stevie Wonder... Awesome

  • This is what you call music!!! I can understand every word - he is respecting the person he is singing about - not calling her a bitch or anything like that. What happened to good music????

  • Well, Swift has not had it bad enough to sing this song with any real soul. Let's face it: suffering makes it real.

  • 2 Dislikes? Those dudes need some SERIOUS counseling!!! The ToP is beyond description, they are so damn good!!

  • TOP is awesome!!!!!

  • I can dig the shades. This is a classic!

  • Smoooooooth

  • awsssssssommmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeee i love it <3

  • Saw them live in San Antonio in 1972 . They were awsome.

  • want those glasses!

  • one of my favorite songs ever!

  • Actually better than the record.

  • This is the same PBS set where Ellis did a long version of "Still A Young Man" and straight up OWNED IT.

  • there best...gives me chills..soo many memories..

  • This song makes it so very hard to go....I love TOP...it's so very hard to go...keep posting that soulful sound...that brass could kick some a**....

  • Ellis is owning this song

  • This was real music. Damn I love this group.

  • this is rediculously awesome

  • it's very hard to go

  • So beautiful!

  • now this is MUSIC!!!!

  • I'm from Oakland Ca., proud to say they hold my #1 most concerts, 13 times in person

  • God Bless Ellis Hall! He still out there doing his thing!

  • I loved this tune when it came out, and I still love it! They just don't make music like this anymore!

  • Also Greg Adams has a new band East Bay Soul that just had a first CD released. Find them on facebook!!

  • Drummer was Mick Mestek. He's very bad ass and still drumming in the Bay Area. Look for 40th anniversary show DVD coming out very soon.

  • FYI, this video is from the TOP performance "Live at the Maintenance Shop" at Iowa State University, filmed for Iowa Public Television around 1985 or 1986. I think it's available on DVD. Incredible night, I was there, they did 2 shows in this club that only holds 110 people. The stage takes up almost 1/3 of the club. Also, fyi, David Garabaldi wasn't with the band during that time. If I remember correctly, the drummer was Mitch Mystic (sp?)

  • I think he song dis better then Lenny Williams

  • you gave this video somfin other than 5*?....hard to figgur....gr8 performance!...cheers!

  • WOW! Respect Ellis. Even the maestro (Lenny Williams) would be proud. Sounds like Stevie in places. Where's Ellis now?

  • @mozdickson check his myspace out, he's still doing shizzle, albeit very underground for the most part. The most underexposed/rated singer ever for sure. As you suggest, I'll bet Lenny Williams would have admired that someone could do the song as much justice as he did.

  • And hes blind too

  • Man...listen to that live music, whew!

  • Ellis Hall was one of the best TOP singers ever!

  • Yeah love them so. From waay back. Pity can't see David Garibaldi at all. That left hand man.

  • Ain't no Autotune garbage happening there. F**k the black eyed peas!

  • @theRealIonian f*** all of them autotune abusers out there!

And please leave the scene to the real musicians...

  • @theRealIonian

    AMEN!

  • @theRealIonian That's the musical gospel right there that you preached. Fuck the Autotune bullshit!

  • It's an Oakland thang. These guys rule. Flint's BBQ. Hello.

  • People like Taylor Swift need to watch this. This is real singing right here. And this is coming from someone who mainly listens to metal.

  • it can't get no better then this....

  • this amazing singer is Ellis Hall

  • 9th should sample this

  • So True So True, This one just tears a broken Heart up...but sometimes it just works out that way!

  • damn this is incredible

  • What a voice, good musicians, wow

  • Awesome!!

  • Nearly similar to Lenny Williams

  • ME TOO LONG TIME AGO SINCE 1978

  • I haven't heard this in a long time. thanks for sharing...
