your arches are crazy awesome! my feet are flat footed (i have no arches) except i started to develop them so they r about 1/4 the size of yours :) i started pointe this year
you have a really nice arch but you just pop your feet onto pointe with out even using your calve muscles, I can tell you now, you will develop a serious implicational injury.
To me your pointes look a bit too big for you.. Like the heel is way too big. It could be me or the video. Maybe you should ask your ballet teacher if they are the right size.
@xXxRoseyxXx3 I was just thinking the same thing! Seems heels and even front top loose when standing flat. Definatly check with your teacher. Arches are great! Be careful on new shoes away from the barr. As you prob. know they're slippery. I found that softening up my new shoes worked well believe it or not using a hammer on the soles a bit.
@TheseLittleRoses To be on the safe side, get an x-ray of your feet. You need strong feet and toes, not just ankles to do pointe. I would start doing feet exercise and relieve before taking pointe classes.
@gnguyen411 Thank you for the friendly reply, the others are so harsh
I talked a little more about it to my jazz teacher, and im now taking private lessons after jazz class. (a hour once every week) She told me that about in a year i will be able to go en pointe. :)
i did use to dance and 4 years ago but gave up....iv just bought my points and will be learning stuff on them very soon ask your teacher what they think
the only reason im aloud on point is because aparently im very strong throughout my pull ups and stuff so yeaah i would have a chat with you teacher :)xxx
You have beautiful feet, but make sure you get on top of your box on your right foot just as much as your left :) Check out my pointe video sometime? Thanks!
you have really good feet but i think you need some new shoes because when you go through demi-pointe the material is not supposed to move away from your foot
your just gorgeous i love your feet and your dancing is beautiful I just started point and i have a question, my toenails are trimmed but whenever i go on point my toenails start to hurt would you know why?
@islandgirlkaitlyn your toe nails might just be shaped different. mine do that too, and they fall off a lot...i would recommend taping them, just until you get used to it. eventually you'll be able to cut them short enough. i would also recommend cutting them with a little v in the middle, because then they won't crack as easily. be careful with this though, don't cut your skin. but remember that pointe is not going to be comfortable, that's what makes it so amazing and special :)
I am 13 and I just got my pointe shoes, I have been waiting for them my whole entire life it has been my dream but its really annoyinh bcause its like going back to baby classes because I can't do the things on pointe on what I can do on demi-pointe. Your really good and your video has helped me to get some excercises so I can do the things what I can do on demi-Pointe do on Point!
Good arches, good plié. You may want to invest in a stiffer shank, especially with those arches. Keep up the good work. I see this video was from 2007, I'm sure you're much better now.
just a question in reference to shanks but shouldn't the shank be not so stiff for a beginner so that our feet become stronger if the shank does all the work then how do our feet get stronger? just askin??
And now, some Point-ers from the likes of me--don't worry, that's as far as I'll go with the cheesy puns, babe. Camera-work's a bit shaky. "Blair Witch" like.

Well, are pretty good. Coupe's nice...Love that fifth position! And you can certainly plie' with the best of them.
your arches are beautiful, but your shanks seem a little soft for a beginner. they should be stiffer for beginning pointe to help strengthen your feet. these seem more like my old (dead) pointe shoes which i can't really dance in any more because they are not supportive. i could be wrong but sometimes it seems like you're pushing over your vamp too far, try not to because you could really hurt yourself and it would be such a shame because i bet you are a really lovely dancer. :)
how long do you have to dance before you can start pointe? i'm 14 and i used to dance ballet up until about third grade and i would love to start again, but not on pointe just yet.
@TheMyspaceroxable how long have you been dancing for? i probably wouldn't start pointe for a while if i started ballet again even if i remember most of what i learned...
For just a beginner your very good, just be careful though. I noticed you were rolling over your shank. That can be very dangerous for many reasons. It can cause you to lose balance easily and can put a lot of tension on your shins.
@torigirlful they dont teach 2 year olds pointe...it interferes with the development of their feet...why do you think the chick in this video been dancing since a child but is just a beginner in pointe?
are pointe shoes expensive? im not in ballet, but i really want to, im 16 but i probably will wait a few years until i actually take ballet classes because it sounds expensive...
@coleyoko94 Yeah I'm 17 and I reeeally want to take ballet, but don't have the money for it. :( I took some classes when I was little and loved it, but had to drop out because of money. But I hope to take it up again someday. There's nothing like it. It's hard work, and I was never on pointe, which I know is much harder, but it's amazing!!!!
@coleyoko94 heyy, i do ballet and trust me the lessons are'nt as exspensive as you think, my ballet lessons are £3.70 a lesson which is good, and my pointe lessons are £4.10, but thats just me, i dont think they are exspensive at all :) xx and your getting older now, and i would just suggest that now is the best time to start :) xx hope this helps! :) x
i just got my pointe shoes a couple weeks ago. i was just wondering if it is normal when skin bunches up between the bottom of the ribbon and the top of the heel. i noticed its a bit wrinkly when i go up. is this normal?
The strings need to be tightened on your shoes -they should not be gapping like they are. You have nice feet but should not do so many exercises where you are pushing over the shoes. Instead, work on strengthening your feet rather than stretching your arch even more. Your feet are so flexible due to your high arch that you're pushing out of the front of the shoes rather than pulling up out of them and aligning the bones in your feet and keeping the box flat on the floor.
@vesterm98 The brand of shoes you get isn't just something you pick, you get whatever works best for you feet. You can't just say "oh I am gonna get Grishko pointes" because you like how they look if they don't fit your feet right. Not all feet can work in all brands of shoes. :) Hopefully you find a pair that work wonderfully for you.
Hey, ive been dancing for about a year now, so im waiting for my muscles to get stronger before i go en pointe. How long were you dancing for, before u started pointe work?
constructive critisism- put your foot in coupe instead of over your heel (the start of the vid), dont go over the box of your shoe and remember to close to a tight 5th.
you have really nice feet! now: some constructive criticism. 1. close all the way to fifth position every time you come off pointe. and 2. when you go to either passe or retire, keep your pinky toe (or big toe) attached to your leg, which will also help you when you turn. keep up the hard work!!
I've been doing pointe for 2 years now, and I still use my first pair because I cant really afford new ones. but mine don't help my horrible feet. I can't get on my box properly. I'm getting new ones soon. any recommendations ?
@CassSmiles HOLY CRAP. I haven't had a pair of shoes for longer than two months. That really isn't good, you should talk to your dance teacher, my teacher will supply a pair of shoes a year to those having financial difficulties.
I think what would help is if u leaned in more on the insides of ur pointe shoes because there are at some points when u start leaning in on the outsides =) Also ur echappe needs to go out a little further and I know that this is when u first started but just for future reference =)
pointe shoes wear out quicker from bending them too far forward ( which looked like what was happening in the beginning) and strains the box and could hurt the dancer if over worn, but if you can afford to buy many pairs of pointe shoes then it doesnt really matter much :) sooo pretty and nice arches! wish mine were that good
wow im sooooo jealous. I did ballet when i was a kid but then quit after 4 or so years, but if i continued i would definitely be on pointe by now. I really badly want to do ballet again but i'd be too far behind plus its too expensive. ):
Hi Guys!:) I might be going en pointe in August 2010, and i need tips!:) Please any tips o how to retain healthy no blistered feet:D I have kinda wide feet (NOT THAT WIDE THOUGH) and i need and tips on what kimd of pads to use!? I have beeen watching a bunch of videos on here , so i have a sorta sorta idea.THANKS SO SO SO MUCH! <3 spotlightdancer1001
Pull Up Is he Most Important Thing Every Time You Go Up In A Releve Or Anything On Pointe Remember To Allways Pull Up. But You Should Do That Even When Your Doing Normall Ballet As It Is Really important andon Exams You can lose alot of marks for slouching :)
i am about to go onto my pointes in two weeeks and i am so excited about going on to them i have wanted to go onto them every since i saw the first ballet movie'centre stage the first one' and what type of pointe are they. u are amazing
i dont know much about pointes but i do ballet and i am a boy but i can tell u need to tighten your shoes isn't that uncmfertable but just saying...xo
wow r those grishkos? i have their pro flex shoes, on full pointe, and theyre great. just remember to no over arch in the shoe or u'll kill the box, and they'll need replacing every few weeks.
I live in New Jersey, and I want to go on point. I'm 5 foot 7inches. But, i weigh a little more than I should. How much should I weigh to be on point!? Can you give me any advice or tips for loosing weight???
anyone with a strong foundation in ballet, strong enough feet and ankles, and a love for ballet can do pointe! professional co's are sticklers about shape and size, but i'm sure you could find a local independant school that would be willing to work with you just the size you are!! go for it, it's amazingly rewarding and fun!
not true.pointe work doesnt only have to do with length of training and the strength of your ankle/feet.you need to have a strong core as well,be up to par technically, be mature, andyou do hve to weigh a certain amoumt depending on your body so your feet can adequately support you...also not everyone's feet are cut for pointe work no matter hw long or hard they train....

I think what would help is if u leaned in more on the insides of ur pointe shoes because there are at some points when u start leaning in on the outsides =) Also ur echappe needs to go out a little further and I know that this is when u first started but just for future reference =)
Chevaux0123 1 year ago
pointe shoes wear out quicker from bending them too far forward ( which looked like what was happening in the beginning) and strains the box and could hurt the dancer if over worn, but if you can afford to buy many pairs of pointe shoes then it doesnt really matter much :) sooo pretty and nice arches! wish mine were that good

wow im sooooo jealous. I did ballet when i was a kid but then quit after 4 or so years, but if i continued i would definitely be on pointe by now. I really badly want to do ballet again but i'd be too far behind plus its too expensive. ):
But keep up the great work!!

Just Remember You Little Ballet dancer :)

Your shoes are a tad loose, does that bother you? If not, then keep up the good work, but it could be problem if you don't find shoes that fit well.
Izbetthequeen 2 years ago
for a beginner you are amazingly over on your shoe. amazing! ur really good
MrNinetynine99 2 years ago
wow r those grishkos? i have their pro flex shoes, on full pointe, and theyre great. just remember to no over arch in the shoe or u'll kill the box, and they'll need replacing every few weeks.

anyone with a strong foundation in ballet, strong enough feet and ankles, and a love for ballet can do pointe! professional co's are sticklers about shape and size, but i'm sure you could find a local independant school that would be willing to work with you just the size you are!! go for it, it's amazingly rewarding and fun!
trappedinside1 2 years ago
not true.pointe work doesnt only have to do with length of training and the strength of your ankle/feet.you need to have a strong core as well,be up to par technically, be mature, andyou do hve to weigh a certain amoumt depending on your body so your feet can adequately support you...also not everyone's feet are cut for pointe work no matter hw long or hard they train....
