There were a couple of interviews I saw him do, one on jay leno some years ago, where he was heavily "sped" up. I'm a junkie in long-term recovery who works with junkies a lot and it seemed to me to be high.

Likewise, people who've been clean a while have a certain feeling of self-containment about them, a solidity. He seems pretty solid in this interview.

Just speculation, I haven't followed his career enough to know much about it.
