  • To all you Filipino Supremacists out there. There are only TWO ewoks that can speak tagalog. The rest of them speak some other language. That means these two ewoks are the only pinoy ewoks in the movie. This doesnt automatically mean ALL ewoks are pinoys.

  • Hehehe. I read years ago that some of the dwarves wearing the Ewok suits were actually Filipinos. Although George Lucas did have some kind of Ewok language created, the Filipino actors were likely told to fill in the gaps in the conversation inserting Tagalog phrases. I distinctly hear them cheekily paraphrasing the director's instructions. "Ayun!" says one. "Puno DAW 'to." (There! This [thing's] SUPPOSED TO BE a tree. LOL.) "Maganda!" (Pretty!/Nice!) Hahaha. Mga luko-luko, nakakatuwa.

  • To create the Ewok's language, they recorded an old chinese Woman speaking an ancient chinese dialect. Then, they made co-workers immitate her, and that's how Ewoks language was made. :D

    True story!

  • @LilWayneMetalGod This proves how ignorant you are, I didn't say black people sound like that and I didn't say Filipinos sound like that.

But people who speak that language, regardless of their race sound like that.

Wonder what you'd call a white person from South Africa or an Arab from North Africa who live in the US, bet you wouldn't call them an "African American" since that's PC for black, yet Africa isn't just black people. Deal with reality and stop trying to find racism in everything.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod You're on a whole different planet or just stupid; Filipinos aren't from Africa, and Kalmyk being nearly dead is a fact, not an opinion.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod Don't keep acting like a victim when you're not.

  • Holy moly...all my life, I was told I was Filipino. Now I know the truth. LUCAAAAAAAAAAAS!

  • Lol what? did he just call the robot a tree?

  • If you listen too it carefully:

Ewok1:Ayoon, pu nu ng tou maganda

    Ewok2:Talaga

  • haha obviously george lucas ran out of random noises to make a language so he chose the most random unique sounding language

  • It's really based on a nearly dead language called Kalmyk. And Tagalog sounds like chickens yelling at each other.

  • @archer49d american..

  • @archer49d Chickens "yell" at each other...?

  • @archer49d Wow, you don't sound fucking racist or anything. *sarcasm*

  • @MsAnakinSolo And you sound overly sensitive to the fact that that is exactly what it sounds like. You're the one who sees it as something to be ashamed of apparently since you construe it as racist. I just see it as funny.

  • @archer49d You stated as objective fact that a native language "sounds like chickens yelling at each other". Whether you meant it to or not, it sounds racist. You could have just said "the Ewoks sound like chickens yelling at each other".

  • @MsAnakinSolo Tagalog sounds likes that too... is it racist to say that certain African languages sounds like a woodpecker going at a tree (clicks, whistles etc.). Everything is racist to anybody who wants to see themselves as a victim. Apparently you do.

  • @archer49d 1) Obviously I don't see my native language as something to be ashamed of. Neither do people who speak the African languages you mentioned, I'm sure. 2)No people walking this earth are born "wanting to see themselves as a victim". It's the oppressors who make victims.

    Educate yourself on racism, please.

  • @MsAnakinSolo Keep feeling like a victim, not my fault you have a fragile psyche.

  • Endor? This is Phillipines! kicks ewok

  • ayon o pukeng maganda !!hhahahahahhah

    putah sayaaa

  • racist

  • no he is saying "ayon puno daw to maganda"

  • Comment removed

  • puno = pinuno(leader)

  • "ayun! puno daw to... maganda..."

i think thats what they were saying if you listen carefully...

  • its kinda funny how they use ewoks to defeat the empire like america used filipinos in WWII... eh that jus makes us awesome xp

  • @kickboxerdragon I just realized the coincidence! Nicely done for pointing it out. Filipino Pride!

  • @kickboxerdragon what the fuck are you saying bro? that bcuz of us, america defeat japanese

invaders!! hahaha bcuz of them we filipinos live and got to keep our country OK!!!!

  • I do not think the ewoks spoke tagalog, I couldn't even figure out what they have said eh

  • AYYY UR tagalog subs are wrong its not ayoon maganda its ayoon puno daw to maganda XD

  • yeah it's true. everybody fuck's up with asian's, yeah but becareful saying bad words about filipino's the next time you'll get sick and your in a hospital, just look around nurse's from med school from the philippines.... hehehe... just jokin... cool man...

  • i think they use different languages to make alien language.. :D ahaha

  • @dzanmercado they did use many other languages to make alien languages... the Jawa's speak Spanish XD if you play Star Wars Battle Front 2, on the Mos eisley map you can hear them yeall Arriba Arriba vamanos! and sometimes you can hear ay yey yey yey XD uhm Ewoks might of been Tagalog especially from this snippet lol uhm... Sand People/Tuskmen dont really talk they just garble their words XD Wookies growl like animals... the uhm... creature that hangs out with the black dude... he sounds like

  • @dzanmercado he speaks another asian race's language mixed with russian.... JarJarBinks obviously speaks Pidgin English or Bastard English its debateable... uhm... Jabba the hutt speaks in garble as well... Geonosians dont really talk much..., and the guy who has annakin when he was younger speaks a bastard spanish/italian

  • Kaya nga sinabi ni Jose Rizal na kung sino man ang hindi nagmamahal sa sariling wika ay mas malansa pa sa isda diba?

  • the real thing the ewok said was. ngayon puno daw to. and the other one said. mukang tanga. tanga is a bad word.

  • According to my research it is not Tagalog, or Filipino at all (a standardized form of all different dialects of Tagalog comprise the makings of what "Filipino" is as the standardization of all Tagalog dialects throughout the Philippines; a fact which most Filipinos themselves do not know). The language the Ewoks are speaking is called Kalmyk, a language spoken by the Kalmyk people of Russia. It is totally possible that some of the sounds/words sound like Tagalog, however it is not the case.

  • wtf?

  • 0:09 - "Ano? Magaling yan!" LMFAO

  • i think maganda in here doesn't mean beautiful, its more like he's saying awesome.

  • "ayoon! puno daw to!" "maghanda kaaa!" LOL

  • tagalog

  • lol hatsune miku speaks tagalog too :P

  • lol the ewoks said there....Beautifull

  • ok... WHAT THE F**K

  • puno daw to?

  • @snipehunter09 that was what they chanted when they were gunna cook chewbacca LOL

  • OH!! and im pretty sure I heard another EWOK say "Adobo" somewhere in the movie. Why do I know? I freakin' <3 adobo:3

  • whahaha.. parang pandak. shiet, tang inang yean... EWOK FTW!!

  • I Laugh When I Heard that on "the Return of the jedi"

  • "Ayooon, puno daw to .. maganda!"

  • Lol never noticed that

  • lol that's awesome...

  • "ayun puno daw to..maganda dalaga" LOL

  • 'puno daw to' ...di nga? XD

  • I was raised speaking tagalog. and when i think of it, tagalog is a perfect language for comedians.

  • haha lusot...

  • Sounds like "ayan puno na ito maganda"

  • LOOOOL, saaaay worrrd.

  • hahaha, thats frekin kool. Oh SEGIE PO! lol

  • ahhhh makagaling yan!!!!

  • Let's see Han Solo top that,lol.

  • Wow I didn't know them Star Wars guys can speak in my language ! KEWL !

  • Me neither! DOUBLE KEWL!!

  • puno daw 'to, maganda

  • what star episode is this????

  • i think its episode 6 return of the jedi

  • look!

    they say its a tree...

  • Look! That tree is beautiful!

  • Really funny vid. But to clear up The mess here. Puno taken from the bigger word Punong-tao means leader. But the word Puno by itself means tree. It kind of makes sense to connect the two words because one could call a tree the leader to which all it's roots gather around.

  • ayoon puno daw to maganda! hahahahaha cmu thats so random

  • Ever wonder if the ewoks was made by a phillipino??

  • All language is beautiful. They just sound strange to us.

To say one language is better than the other is colonialist to say the least. That attitude is over as we are becoming more global.

  • he said "ayon puno daw ito maganda"

which means "there! that tree is nice"

  • wrong. puno in this context means leader not tree...

  • You say that with such calculated authority as if you were there.

Considering these are arboreal creatures and the context of what was said, it does not make sense for the word "puno" to be leader, it makes more sense for it to be "tree". I believe the people here will support me.

You're such a hater. You must be straight. Only straight people hate so much.

  • didn't mean to be.. sorry

  • but yea didn't mean to be rude, but it means leader. the other repliers are saying the same thing.

  • Don't go fighting with that word puno... the way it is pronounced in the video means Tree... puno in filipino means many words it is based on how it is promounced... Peace be with you!!!

  • erm..but they carried him around like a great leader or perhaps a demi-god.. surely, they mustve meant "leader".

anyway, george lucas based the ewok language on the entire filipino dialects, so its not exclusive to tagalogs. having said that, we cant subscribe to actual translations of the words since this is a science fiction....i mean cmon now, dont take it seriously,,,,inhabitants of Endor speaks similarly wtih our language? lolz

  • Sorry if this is a stupid question but in which country is Tagalog spoken??

  • Philippines

  • Main dialect of the Philippines. Nothing stupid, it's not common knowledge.

But keep calling us Chinese or Japanese :p

  • it sounds like the first ewok is saying more.

    -"ayoon, blahblahblah ito"

    -"maganda"

you know, kinda like he's saying "there it is, look at this" or something

    am i trippin?

  • hmmm r they saying that tree right there is beautiful

  • yub nub:)

  • our language sounds "monster" to americans?!

it's okay.. the sound may not be good, but we know we have the most beautiful language.. ^^

  • I think Tagalog sounds very cool. Hrad for me to pronounce correctly with my American Tongue.

  • @ncub8 u mean gay tounge XD

  • Certainly better than Viet. That there is some rough stuff.

  • @leejaedi I'm American and I learned Tagalog, ang ganda ganda ng wikang Tagalog! Tagalog is an awesome language!

  • @MrOldskoolgamez salamat pare :D

  • @leejaedi : yep.. i read from a language book that Tagalog is the most beautiful sounding language of all.. structure of english, class of spanish and terminology of the greeks..

    (from what i remember)

  • @leejaedi na dude....im filipino but i think french is the most beautiful language...most extravagant as well....i speak english tagalog arabic japanese spanish and french...

    nothing tops french

  • @mike170tube あなたは日本語を話せますか。あのイウオークがタガログ語話せますか。

  • @leejaedi

You can call Ewoks a lot of things, but "monster" is not one of them.

I don't know why you're offended. No one said it sounded ugly or bad.

  • @misterfotfo i wasnt offeded actually. it's just a mistake typing 'americans." rather, it should be 'the producers.'/.. peaceout man.

  • @leejaedi lol im philipino and i'll admit that tagalog sounds like a chicken falling down the stairs, its so ungraceful.. honestly now..

  • @luvtoluvtoluvu Lol! Honestly, you shouldn’t even call yourself Filipino at all because you don’t know how to speak your own language and another reason why is because you’re so stupid that you even misspelled the word “Filipino” into “Philipino”. Punyeta! :)

  • @luvtoluvtoluvu It's "Filipino" not "philipino". If you really are Filipino should at least get that much right, even if you don't like your own language.

And yes, I'm being a spelling nazi right now, but that's only because I find your error extremely disrespectful (if you're not really Filipino) and kind of stupid (if you are Filipino). Get it right next time.

  • Comment removed

  • @leejaedi I don't think they're monsters. They end up saving the galaxy after all. :)

  • bakit ba ganya..

  • Ever wonder why they wanted them to speak Tagalog in the first place? Lol. ^_^

  • i heard 'puno daw to' between ayun and maganda. :))

  • gahd

  • Ewoks = Creatures in Star-Wars

  • what is ewoks?

  • Ang tingin ko, the sound mixers of STAR WARS were tying to have the Ewoks say,

    "Now... this must be theirleader!"

    (Ngayon... puno daw ito!)

    "Maganda!"

    (Beautiful!) or (Great!)

  • haha wow that is so funny

  • LOL Thats awesome!

  • It sounded like he said "Putang ina mo" :D

  • lol

Yeah, there were other parts too.

  • 0:07 i love when the ewok says Daaaaa

  • way too short to be that funny.

  • HAHAHA, long time star wars fan ako, ngayon ko lang nalaman na marunong silang magtagalog

  • i heard it say..."ayun puno daw to maganda"

  • hahaha kelan pa n22 cla mgtagalog? hahaha unanong pinoy??

  • "puno daw 'to" - That's the bottom (tree).

  • nd btw, u missed out on" talaga" ; )

itz a faint whisper... catch it on 0:15

  • o.o

  • you mean, bear?

  • Ewok language is based primarily on the Kalmyk language of Western Mongolia. Some of the terms may have been taken from Tagalog, however.

  • Yeah there's a lot of movies where they use existing language for alien languages. In Stargate, the leader of the slaves was given a peanut butter candy bar and he said "Mani?" (Tagalog for peanut).

  • yeah, in the old animated clone wars, the blue rat aliens spoke some forein language, don't remember which, though. =P

  • anong starwars to!!!

  • Di ko na maalala, either Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi.

  • Return of the Jedi.

  • or full

  • No, the way he pronounced it means tree or leader. Full would be pronounced poo-noh not pooh-noh.

  • ano mga matatalino pala yan ahh

  • THAT is hiliiarious!!!!!!!!Totoo yun! Ha ha

  • "Ayun, puno daw to! ...maganda"

  • puno can also mean leader

  • it's not puno bat pinuno... :)

  • puno daw to

  • What an ignorant comment to make. We're all human, you bigot.

  • roflmfao XD

  • Ewoks aren't savages!!! They're cute little furry friends. :)

  • shit i'm still loling irl, nakakatawa ung pagkakasabi dun sa maganda, =))

  • "ayon puno daw to maganda" translation

"there its the leader? (LOL)its beutiful"

    Im not so sure ('._.)

  • "AYON" in english is "THERE"

    "MAGANDA" in english is "BEAUTIFUL"

  • If only this video was longer

  • the jawas were mexican..!

  • according to star wars in the future..

mexicans are wookies cuz chewbaccas nickname chewy is mexican. if you watched carlos mencia stand up comedy he mentions this.

... and filipino's... obviously... are ewoks. cuz they spoke tagalog.

this is off topic but... in the video game HALO on Xbox. the grunts real name are "ungoys". which is tagalog. in the future we go thru alotta changes lol.

  • hahha wow.

i just searched up "ungoy halo"

    and someone said,

    "Goodnight ungoys and ungals."

    isnt it unggoy though?

    oh well...sounds the same haha

  • so what did they say? Translate pls!

  • he said " there' its pretty"

  • no they did not

  • they said that the robot is "there beautiful"

  • idk if i got mixed up but arent Jawas also PH/Filipino?

  • lol I win

  • did they really speak Filipino in the movie or this is only a fake video?

  • i watched this and they really spoke that :)

    xx

  • i saw return of the jedi a billion times. no, it's not a fake.

  • also full but u it's not really audible isn't it because if they meant he was full of parts or metal they could sell or salvage and is of good quality (hence maganda) then that would be different wouldnt it

  • lol he's a tree ur joking right, man either ur joking or ur a poser cuz it did say "look there, beautiful" and u mispelled Filipino haha but im pretty sure ur joking

  • YALL GOT ANY TATERS?

  • "Ayoon, puno daw to."

    "Maganda..."

  • He's a TREE?!? FAIL!

  • hey dumb dumb....he said..."ayoon, maganda"

    which means "look there, beautiful"...

    you got it??...

  • if ur full pinoy and u cant speak ur a disgrace i am mistiso and i speak fluently and can understand fluently too and i am born in canada

  • i totally disagree... its more of a disgrace if youre not proud to be a philippino.

  • You know it's good and all to be proud about being filippino, but god i hate it when your so proud you start enforcing it on other filippinos
