  • good job Eddie

  • Eddy makes this all too complicated. I think all of his exercises are great but just for general conditioning and skating.

I'd rather see him do a nice set of 1/2 moon stokes then show what happens when you step across the center line with bent knee and show what happens as you straighten leg.

  • shoot the duck is my favorite , nice style btw.

  • I remember there was some out door race I went to about five or six years ago, and this guy was dressed as a tree. No joke, lol.

  • Hmmm

  • I've just learned what a double push is today. Eddy is excellent

  • Yes, below your nosewide does not mean a body-centered Sumo wrestling stance, because the upper body must drive the legs. Only lateral movement drives one forward, so do it twice—left and right. I know 20+ experienced skaters whove been to these workshops and now have better skate sense/skills but still cant figure out what DP is. Most skaters who think they DP are not. See the rolling road DP videos that end with a wire-frame animation of the technique.

  • Hmmm. Ive done these exercises for YEARS with accomplished skaters and never developed additional speed. Until I realized that whats shown here is not the DP. DP is planting your foot below its own hip, driving it over to the opposing hip (preferably further as you improve) to then snap it back to and beyond the starting sidetwo lateral pushes: left and right. I know this stuff is divisivebut the proof is in the results. Im 2+mph faster when cruising & 5-7+mph when all out.

  • I disagree, Eddy is DPing here, although perhaps not with great amplitude. Planting your foot beneath it's own hip is actually incorrect and too wide, the setdown should be directly beneath your nose.

  • wow... i think i might try this out later on... i'm such a noob at skating.

  • i dont know how to skate:((((((((((

  • dont know to skate isn't bad as you sit your ass on the sofa playing games and think' "i dont know how to skate:(" did you know how to walk, cycle and run when you were just a child???? get skates on your feet now!!

  • Your comment was just funny .Had to give it a thumbs up.However, You need to concider whether this person lives where skating is possible near by. There was no way I could find a pair of skates let alone space to learn where I come from.I am just starting out.Always wanted to get into this thing.

  • but....

    how you stop

  • like ice skating.

Im guessing u go so fast, that sliding is possible

  • training like this will punish your knees, it should be noted that once you figure out how to do 2push right, this kind of extreme training is not necessary, maybe just 4fun for short amount of time to gain confidence,to find your stability limits.if u skate long distances everyday as i do,then this kind of excess of stress on your knees is stupid thing to do.(after fast 2push 100miles in 4days my knees hurt,i regret every unnecessary excess of stress on my knees doing things like u c in this vid)

  • I'm not sure I agree with that. One should take any increase in training load slowly and carefully, until one's muscles and connective tissue adapts.

  • Im a personal trainer and thinking what you said, it's true and not: would be bad for the knees if he was executing a poor form of moving but he's not, so I gotta say it's not bad for your knees as long you dont let your knee goes beyond your foot toe when looking from above while you're bending it. Check'how to perform squats video' in case it's not so clear.

  • Congratulations!

  • can you do a double push with a fitness boot?

  • Yes, you can.

  • awoog awooga awooga

    haha

  • Que buen tutorial, es algo para personas mas aanzadas, pero igual esta bueno

  • bahaha,

    i love eddy matzger!

    he's a trip fer sure.

and this is an amazing tutorial.

    somethings he says,

    cracks me up.

    :]

  • perfect tutorial

  • Right. ;)

  • Nice technical fragmentation of the double push. If I may add, this is the beginning of something great. This looks like what long track speed skaters call "carving the ice", except that it is being done on land. I do have issues with the way the whole thing is integrated into the final package. Would like to see a more pronounced outer fall integrating gravity, and a more defined pendulum effect with the recovering leg channeling the fall into forward motion.

  • Say wha?

  • is this man crazy

    i cant understand him

he says awooga a boombox wtf

  • what the hells a double push?
