  • SON-OF-GUN; JUST MADE IT!!! As stated above in 1956 "Cindy, Oh Cindy" peaked at No. 10 thus just making the Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 19 weeks in the Top 100...

Also in 1956 Vince Martin with The Tarriers peaked one position higher {No. 9} than Mr. Fisher with their version of this song, and it also spent 19 weeks in the Top 100...

  • This song will never sound the same after seeing the House On The Edge Of The Park (1980). This song was used so brutally that it deforms the meaning of the lyrics.

  • this was my moms favorite song , its where i got my name. i reamber playing the 78 my mom and dad had of it.

  • I had this record when I was a kindergartner in the 1950's; it was a yellow 78-rpm single.

    Where have the years gone?

  • This hit by Eddie Fisher went to #10 on the Top 40 charts and #5 in the United Kingdom. It would finish at #58 for the year, 1956. On July 9, 1955, Bill Haley and His Comets hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, signifying the start of the Rock Era. Then, on April 21, 1956, Elvis Presley hit #1 with Heartbreak Hotel, shooting this new sound into the stratosphere.

  • Born in Feb 1957 my dad was a Navy man. Mom wanted a different name, but dad won and this is the song I was named for....dad passed 1992. This is for him. Love ya dad.

  • Very nice song.

  • i m born in 54 , became father of a daughter in 1982 and called her Cindy , she was not happy with her name , until she heard on the radio Margot Eskens with her cover cindy o cindy , i do not know who wroten this song , the lyrics were diffirent , the German Cindy is unhappy , her boy friend is gone and Eddie loves my daughter :-)))

  • i have the record which i pinched in the early 60's from my uncle ken who was in the merchant navy at the time!! i was born in 1954 but love most music from the 50's till now

  • Fills me with a yearning for the fifties ..

  • Look for The beach Boys cover... Is very good

  • Yes, Eddie had the "perfect" voice---breath, intonation, phrasing, and powerful timber, sweetness and stratospheric power--but sweet not overpowering--he is truly the bel canto star of pop 50's stars

  • great voice but what a jerk!

  • my dad loves this kind of songs, God Bless his soul and i hope he has found eternal peace, Miss you dad

  • Thanks for posting this one;..in the 50's you could not go into any of the dime stores or restaurants without hearing this..My oldest daughter who is now 41 was named after this song..

  • Thanks for posting this one; my oldest daughter who is now 41 is named after this song....

  • RIP Eddie Fisher

  • Brings me back to my childhood....THX!

  • I wish time could have stood still when this song was recorded. It was a much much better time. chevyluver305

  • rip eddie

  • RIP Eddie.

  • RIP...

  • Along with "Oh My Papa", this song is a great signature song of Eddie Fisher. I was amazed and sad to know about his death. Gone as he is, his legend will live on. And his songs will keep inspiring future generations. Thanks a lot for every song he recorded. May he rest peacefully now.

  • Great oldie. I used to watch his TV show in person across from the Capitol Records Building in Hollywood at The Vine Street Theater. He was a nice person and I shall miss him.

  • fantastic voice!!

  • This sounds amazing.

  • R.I.P., Eddie!

  • Eddie Fisher RIP

  • RIP

  • Had GF named Cindy. We broke up. No idea where she is.

    RIP Eddie Fisher.

  • Edwin Jack "Eddie" Fisher (August 10, 1928 – September 22, 2010) was an American singer and entertainer, who was one of the world's most famous and successful singers in the 1950s, selling millions of records and having his own TV show. He was married to Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, and Connie Stevens. His divorce from his first wife, Debbie Reynolds, to marry his best friend's widow, Elizabeth Taylor, garnered scandalously unwelcome publicity at the time.

  • RIP

  • great memorie at the good old times

  • I was born in in the UK in 52 and this is the first record I remember singing to when listening to a very crackly and bad reception from Jack Jackson on Radio Luxembourg that was the only radio station playing "pop records" thru the evening in the 1950s.

  • great song, great to hear again!

  • Oh how I love this song

  • Sounds really great. I have the 45 that is scratch to hell. Thanks for a dynamic recording.

  • Thanks for posting this video. Beautiful song and voice.

  • Thanks for posting this. I think that the last time I heard this song was when I was a little kid! Did a woman ever record it?

  • What a sincere and lovely song !!!

  • A reminder of my days as a National Serviceman ! Great post.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Always like Cindy, Oh Cindy....I wonder if you do have Eddie Fisher's version of the movie theme song "Sayonara".....It was wonderfully sung too!! Thanks!!

  • There must be a thousand versions of this song.

  • my daughters budgie is called cindy and it goes mad for this song :D

  • I love Eddie Fisher's voice, too bad he was such a cad! I read his autobiography and was not impressed. But I do love his music!!!

  • les

reminds me when i was young im70 now but still enjoy it so much thanks very much for for bringing me so many memories

  • I loved this version by Eddie Fisher, but the original by Vince Martin and the Tarriers had the edge.

  • Perfect voice... shame Elizabeth Taylor screwed him up. She really destroyed an incredibly promising career.

  • great song

  • Just love this song takes me back to being a 7 year old, my lovely dad used to sing this song.

  • Eddie Fisher used to frequent a bar in DC called the CafeDon and sing along with his records on the jukebox. Leo the owner used to tell him not to put his feet up on the booth he sat at! People would say Leo thats Eddie Fisher! Leo would say I no-a care who he is-a. he no putta his feet up on-a booth in my place!

  • Nice rendition by a great Tenor, but Tony Brents version is the best.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

Take me way, way back! Now THIS is a long lost oldie but goodie.

  • Eddie Fisher is still my favourite singer. Have tried for years to get " If I'm Elected" with no luck. Anyone have it. Thax for all the great oldies

  • I remember having a 78 with this on. I think it had "Hang on the Bell Nelly" on the B side. Would love to hear that.

  • Takes me WAY back in time to my youth where everything was easy come, easy go. Too bad things change so much when you get older. Thank you for posting and thank you for the memories.

  • There was a version , country style, where the singer had an Elvis style of singing , although the voice was not as deep. Had a snappy rhythm to it. Not Fisher,Tony brent, or the others shown on youtube...

  • One of the first records I can remember, Think its on a 78 up in my Dads attick !

  • thanks for the listing have not heard this song for so long thanks again and keep listing all these old wonderful songs

  • seen eddie fisher back in 1978 were he was playing in las vegas at the stardust .sounded great singing this song . thanks for the upload!!

  • Thank you so very much Tomkaye0 for sharing this beautiful song which brings back lots of fond memories during the late 50's and early 60's.

  • love this Version

  • I was 4 years old when this song was popular, but I remember it clearly. It was very popular. We sang it for my cousin Cindy. I didn't know there were so many versions of the song...the Tarriers and Eddie Fisher are great, but I have to give special props to my favorite band, the Beach Boys. ;D

  • This shows the value of the internet when songs such as these ,which can bring back special memories, can be preserved and not be lost long after the artists, writers and we have been lost to the world.I am so glad you posted it

  • I guess we were more naive back then, but it sure is nice to hear Eddie sing this wonderful old tune.

  • GAWD . . I remember this - my mum had a stack of old 45s, me and my sister used to listen to them on an old mono player in the 70's.

    Great!!

And I still remember all the words, haven't heard this since I was 9.

  • soniclady :) Yes the same here for me. Execpt we listened to Reel to Reel tapes of these timeless classics. Thanks Tom for posting these.

  • I never thought I'd hear this song again. My mother would sing this to me when I was a child. She and my dad were married in 1951. I think this helped her learn English. She was a young Greek bride in a new country. Hearing this again has broaght her back, if only for a moment. Thank you.

  • I was born in 1948 but I recall all the 50s songs since my Mom had a jukebox in her diner...and you can understand the lyrics...

  • Man I loved this! I posted Chet Atkins guitar version, but I just had to look up a vocal cover. What a great old tune!

  • This took me back to my childhood, my mom used to sing this song to me, my name is Cindy. Hearing it brought tears to my eyes, my mom passed away 9 years ago. Thank you so much, I had never actually heard this song before, but Eddie Fisher's voice is so beautiful, gave me great memories, thank you again.

  • Really glad to hear this. I have the 78 that has this song.

  • Thanks for your comment!!

  • @subtitleman You have the 78 that has this song. I really admire you as you are quite a collector. I have a lot of 45s and 33s and I got rid of all of them as they are absolutely absolete.

  • I have been looking for this song a long time. Thanks for posting. I am also looking for songs by Rush Hamilton. Do you have it. Thanks again.

  • I will look. Your welcome. Thanks for your comment!!

  • Thanks for your reply. Rush Hamilton has a number of songs such as "I still belong to you", "Wedding Ring", "Tip toe to the Tulips",

"Rainbow" etc. Hope you can find them. Thanks again.

  • 1959 ... a little girl uprooted from her beloved homeland, emigrated to another; one of the first songs I heard upon my arrival. It was haunting then, as it is now. I never realised [UK sp] what a beautiful voice Eddy Fisher had. Lovely song, excellent quality recording. Many thanks for the nostalgic trip.

  • One of my all time favorite songs, and it's very hard to find! Thanks very much for posting!

  • A perfect song. I played it all the time in 1984 even thought the song was "old" back then. Yet it's beautiful. Thank's for posting.
