  • pow = batman is so obvious

  • Marty Jannetty

  • I got 2/4: "Gorgeous" and "Pow"

  • Clue: "How many clues you need to answer this puzzle"

    Answer: ONE!

    (yes, I know that can't be a clue but it's a joke)

  • Did Bert Convy have the best White Guy Afro ever, or did Bert Convy have the best White Guy Afro ever?

  • @darrinbaker00 I agree, other than the dimples, that's what I like best about him lol

  • @darrinbaker00 Actually, on that I say Trebek.

  • @sshuffield70 Nobody, black, white or otherwise, had a better Afro/porn 'stache combo than Alex Trebek.

  • I guessed batman too hahahahaha

  • Who is the fox who guessed "Cheers"?

  • I"ve been listening to the sound track to " A Chourus line" all week and totally guessed it too! Favority Musical!

  • "One" is a famous song from a famous musical ("A Chorus Line"). If the contestant happens to be a Broadway fan, it's actually not a surprising answer.

  • Half the time I thought this game was fixed

  • @tryithere I wish you people would stop saying stuff like this. You KNOW it's NOT fixed, it's illegal and producers go through a lot to make sure of it.

  • Does that dude in the striped shirt look like Ozzy, or what?

  • @stargate121 I thought that to

  • At the 2:20 mark, Marty pats the celebrity contestant so hard on the back he almost pushes him over!

  • When did the announcer say "the Password is" on super password?

  • is the contestant in the last one Marty Jannetty??? it looks a lot like him.

  • no i don't think it's Jannetty I compared photos

  • @ChrisZaney yeah, ur right. i compared them. but it does kinda look like him though. or at least it did haha

  • @ChrisZaney i kinda thought no. but it kinda does look like him at first

  • Ha! I got the Pow = Batman one.

  • That was Paul Kreppel (from "It's A Living") who got "A Chorus Line" on "One."

  • i seem to remember there being a video of a guy who guy who guessed two puzzles in a row w/ just 1 clue revealed

  • I've seen that too. First he guessed "tobacco" when the only clue was "chewing". Right after that, his partner guessed "pizza" with the only clue being "Italian".

  • wow I never would have guessed 'Cheers' for one..... know that she got it after one clue I paused the video and thought for awhile but never came up with Cheers.

Excellent guessing and thanks for posting!

  • I love how that guy put out his finger to show that he was number one then

  • I thought of Batman too, for "pow" but I didn't guess any of the others.

  • I can honestly say that I'd have never gotten Cheers out of Long nor A Chorus Line out of one because I never watched A Chorus Line & Long could mean any number of things.Cheers wasn't even a huge ratings sensaþion around the time this aired on NBC,although it was starting to catch on.

  • To be dead honest, "George" WAS the first thing that came to my mind when I saw "Gorgeous".

  • Yep. I also guessed Batman for Pow and A Chorus Line for One. Honest.

But then, if you know in advance that they will be getting it on one clue, then your mind kind of goes to this question: "Okay, what is the only thing that 'Pow' could be that could be guessed in one guess? Well, I remember those POW moments on Batman." And "What can you get from 'One' by itself? Well, by itself, it's a song title."

I didn't guess George or Cheers, however.

  • I loved how Bert Convy would get legitimately excited about those kind of wins.

  • WTF LUCKY GUESS!

  • That is amazing! I never would have thought of Cheers from Long! Wow!

  • Shelley Long played Diane Chambers in Cheers. :o)

  • one...equals "a chorus line"?

    WHAT THE HECK!

    HOW DID HE GUESS THAT!

    HE IS A GENIUS! lol

  • ONE Singular Sensation.... it was very popular back then in a revival.

  • Not even a revival. The original was STILL RUNNING on Broadway until 1990! Held the record for longest running Broadway show until CATS broke it (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is the current record holder.)

  • @ChrisZaney Revival nothing! The ORIGINAL Broadway production was still running when this episode was taped! The musical ran until 1990, and was at the time the longest running Broadway musical in history!

  • @ChrisZaney actually the original production was still playiong at that time.

  • There was one time where a contestant got two puzzles in a row on the first clue. First, he guessed "tobacco" from "chewing", and then on the next puzzle, his partner guessed "pizza" from "Italian".

  • Wow didn't get that. Didn't even get 'long' from short. I'd have said tall...

  • rofl @ getting long from short, I thought she said sword and thought "oh yeah I would have said long too......right! lol"

  • I got CURIOUS/GEORGE (not too difficult) and POW/BATMAN (what else?). LONG/CHEERS came up too quick for me to play along but I would have probably said Treasure Island. ONE/CHORUS LINE I would never had got in a million years, but I'm a guy and not gay.

  • POW could be a prisoner of war and refer to any war / war camp

  • These are one word clues so P.O.W. wouldn't be up there. Maybe M.A.S.H. because its a one word name of a TV show and pronounced "mash" (as opposed to M - A - S - H), but P.O.W. is not pronounced "pow", its pronounced by saying 3 abbreviated words: P (prisoner) O (of) W (war). Most likely Pow would be Batman or Ralph Kramden (Pow! Right in the Kisser), but most likely Batman since the Honeymooners line is a weird clue without Right in the Kisser.

  • Brilliant guesses. That P-sazz guy is a hoot - and so cute!

  • The guys on the other side of the table must get pretty pissed at people who can pull off that sort of thing. XD

  • How the hell did she get Cheers from "Long" with a clue of Short???

  • HE GOT "A CHORUS LINE" FROM ONE?????!!!!! It makes sense, but "one" could have been anything!!! That's just idk.

  • That last "one" clue is still the sickest one word guess I've ever seen on Password, the guy is telepathic, or psychopathic.

  • @ChrisZaney yeah that's right up there w/ another video i've seen where one team got the first 2 puzzles in a game w/ only one guess i'm surprised that's not in this video

  • @ChrisZaney Yeah, the first time I saw this clip, I thought the same thing he did. It's the only thing that came to my mind. Anyone who knows that show would think that. :)

  • LOL, I also EVER guessing with one clue on my Super Password game on my DOS computer, there's just one clue "GIANT", then I guessing "James and The Giant Peach" and I got it right!

  • I got George right.

  • does anyone else love that win music?

  • I do

  • i guessed ( in this order ) :

    didnt start

    face

    batman

    man

so i at least i got batman right =)

  • Tanya something from the show Dallas, it's mentioned in another post.

  • who was the teen Actress in the first part of the clip

  • I think her name was Tonya Crowe who played Donna Mills daughter Olivia on Knots Landing.

  • You are correct. She just appeared that one week in 1988.

  • I WAS ABLE TO GUESS BATMAN!

  • yea Marty looks like Steve Perry from Journey.

  • Just a small-town girl... livin' in a lonely wor-rld... Sorry, I'll spare ya lol.

  • LOL Marty's hair is priceless :)

  • i really like that young lady at the beginning. She's beautiful. what was her name?

  • Read previous posts

  • what do you mean?

  • Her name is mentioned in another comment... I think it's Tanya something from Dynasty.

  • i mean the lady who answered "Cheers"

  • Daphne Maxwell-Reid. :)

  • Oh man you had every one except for the best of all time. The famous Dick Clark incident. The first clue was "youthful" and the contestant guessed Dick Clark and it happened to be the answer to the puzzle. That was classic. You gotta post that one!

  • My favourite memory of a one clue puzzle...

Jamie Farr had "SINGER" as his only clue. And he guessed "SEWING MACHINE" and that was the correct answer! I think that was in the Password Plus days with Allen Ludden. Anyone else remember that one?

  • I thought that P-Sazz was the funniest. The celebrity saying "BEEEEA-UTIFUL!" was priceless.

  • I think the first one and the last one were the most impressive.

  • wth? from one to chorus line???? huh?!?!

  • "One" is the name of a song in the musical "A Chorus Line".

  • I swear to god that when I heard "pow" I said Batman. lol

  • Are there any more? Throughout the show's run there had to me more than four. If there are post more.

  • P-Sazz??? That's a strange name!

  • @CraigFoye80 not strange. best name ever!

  • i'm not too sure on the rules, so forgive me, but how on earth can u guess 'cheers' from 'long'? i don't understand the connection AT ALL, and when she answers she seems so confident.

  • From Shelly Long. She was on Cheers for the early seasons.

  • shelly long sams girl

  • wow, i could have never guessed any of it.

  • who is the young lady in the cheers puzzle that guessed it

  • Her name is Tonya Crowe from Knot's Landing

  • Is she still acting?

  • No she had babies got married and quit the biz

  • Daphne Maxwell-Reid is the only celebrity I watch who wears a hat when she's on "Super Password."

  • There is a video posted on youtube of Betty White guessing OWL from just the clue NIGHT

I think some schenanigans go on in game shows with overheard clues or answers from the audience or staff. Also, those random wheels don't behave randomly on several gameshows.

  • The clue that was given to Betty was nocturnal... owl is a nocturnal

  • I can't find the clip... it was here a week ago. I am sure the clue was night.

If someone finds the clip, please click on MORE and provide the search tags and mention them here so we can find the clip.

  • do a youtube search on:

    password martin

and then look for the clip that has a description that starts with:

Part Two of a Password Plus episode

The clue of NOCTURNAL is given to Betty who guesses NIGHT. The clue for the puzzle is NIGHT... with just that one clue, Betty guesses OWL

  • Also, a better answer for the contestants clue of Nocturnal would have been OWL instead of Night (which Betty answered). Then, when the puzzle clue came up NIGHT, a better response for that would have been to go back to the word NOCTURNAL instead of going to Owl. Something fishy was going on here. Betty often had the right answer even when it wasn't the best answer. Betty has close ties with the Password show. I think there was some cheating.

  • lol there is no cheating on Password Plus, just because Betty White's husband was the host doesn't mean something sneaky was going on. In fact type in "George Peppard's Password Plus Rant" and you will see what I mean!

  • And the reason for that rant was because of the overbearing scrutiny for cheating.. which resulted from a LOT of cheating. Shows would only cheat through people they could trust not to blackmail them later, such as Betty White, and Richard Dawson on Match Game.

  • Actually in that clip Allen Ludden was referring to scandals on the game show "21" which almost ruined the genre on TV forever.

  • Dotto with Jack Narz was the first game show scandal. The 21 scandal broke 10 days later. There is a lot of fishy stuff going on in games shows to this day. Here's a list of shows I'm sure cheated or still cheat: Dotto, 21, Password, Price Is Right, Wheel Of Fortune. I'm sure there are many more.

  • For that first clip of the answer "Cheers," I would have gotten the answer on Thursday. For the second clip which was George, I would have gotten it on Boy, because I figured it was missing link. For the third clip of the answer Batman, I would have gotten it on West, I'm not sure what the other clues were for "A Chorus Line," but I would have gotten it on the fourth clue.

  • The 'Chorus Line' clues were

    One

    Singular

    Sensation

    Broadway

    Musical

  • I would have gotten "A Chorus Line" on Broadway

  • Mullets: business up front, all fun in the back.

  • Marty Mullet

  • if they use this format in the new MDP you should get a cash bonus for doing that.

  • How the eff did he get "A Chorus Line"?!? That's unbelievable!

  • Yea there are a ton of them actually, I thought those were some of the harder guesses to make. I mean come on, "one"?

  • You're missing a clip when Vicki Lawrence solved with one clue. First clue was "mighty" and she guessed "mouse." I guess that the clip was posted and mighty was too obvious.

  • There was one case where a player guessed it on one clue 2 puzzles in a row! First of all, he guessed "tobacco" with the only clue being "chewing". Secondly, he guessed "pizza" with his only clue being "Italian".

  • bluebear1985 I remember that and I've been waiting for GSN to repeat it, but no dice yet.

  • Daphene Maxwell-Reid looks like shes dressed to go to church. lol!

  • Comment removed

  • Whatever (just out of curiosity) do you mean?

  • Like, dude, check out the mullet on that last dude. Like, totally bitchin'.

  • Her name is Tonya Crowe from Knot's Landing.

  • That last one, with the word "ONE", was the sickest guess I've ever seen on a game show, ever.

  • You're right, that is sick.

Do you know who the celebrity guest is in the first clip - the one who guessed Cheers? I've seen her, but can't think of her name.

  • It maybe sick to you, but after seeing "SINGULAR" & "SENSATION", it certainly made perfect sense.
