They changed it now, it does way more damage and you can cast it on any enemy. It usually ticks for around 600 damage (which can crit for 1.5k), then the final explosion usually hits for around 1.8k and can crit for over 3k. This is based on my mage, which has 1800 spellpower atm.

Best thing is that it counts toward the Hot Streak talent, so you can cast it on an enemy player, then wait for it to detonate. If it crits on two or more of his allies, you get an instant pyroblast as well!
