Thanks Peggy, all your videos are really helpful to me. All my co-workers are chinese/taiwanese/vietnamese, and they dont speak english. I learned from all these lessons.
Please allow me to point out that westerners might have a hard time discerning between 'bao zi' (bun) and 'bao4 zhi3' (newspaper). Probably a common cause for confusion at the 便利商店.
@ezz2018 Thanks a lot for watching. This video dates far back, I am speaking much slower now in my recent videos. Do check them out and let me know what you think. :)
Thank you Peggy. I Just started to learn to speak Mandarin and this lesson is helpful, very easy to follow. I appreciate you explaining the words and phrases to me. It's one thing to learn a new word but then quite another thing to speak it correctly in a sentence.
Teaching me how to put common words in correct phrases and order is priceless ! Thanks again.
Ni hao peggy.wo jaio de ke zhen hao.wo zhen xianmu ni. and it will be nice if you could upload lessons about wedings and funerals vocabulary as they are common.xie xie
@daveeuforia "er4" is only used when counting numbers, such as "yi1 er4 san1...."; When count things or objects, we use "liang3" + measure word, for example "liang3 ge5".
@SanJudasTV You are right. 「需要什麼?」- xu1yao4 shen2me5? Thank you very much for pointing it out. In Taiwan, however, when speaking, 「什麼」- shen2me5 sound like "shen3me5" most of the time.
@PeggyTeachesChinese Thanks to you i've noticed that all the chinese people i know say "shen3me5". I don't know if it has something to do with this but they all come from Southern China.
@aLyZa522 That goes back to the 'five tones' in Mandarin. Please check out my very first lesson on "Tones and Greetings" in Mandarin. I hope it helps. :)
You are soo cute, and great video. I am learning chinese because of my girlfriend, but its really difficult. I knew WO YAU already, because I always say WO YAU SHU SHU :)

Hi Peggy, thanks for your awesome lessons ! In my opinion you are the world's best chinese teacher.
I have a question: “需要什麼” shouldn't be "xū yào shén me" in pin yin ? I ask that because you wrote xu1 yao4 SHE3 me5 at 1'45'' .
SanJudasTV 1 year ago
@SanJudasTV you mean 1:45
