  • Thank you Peggy. I Just started to learn to speak Mandarin and this lesson is helpful, very easy to follow. I appreciate you explaining the words and phrases to me. It's one thing to learn a new word but then quite another thing to speak it correctly in a sentence.

Teaching me how to put common words in correct phrases and order is priceless ! Thanks again.

    Virginia 謝謝 你 xièxie nî

  • @daveeuforia "er4" is only used when counting numbers, such as "yi1 er4 san1...."; When count things or objects, we use "liang3" + measure word, for example "liang3 ge5".

    lololol i can speak chinese!

  • Hi Peggy, thanks for your awesome lessons ! In my opinion you are the world's best chinese teacher.

I have a question: “需要什麼” shouldn't be "xū yào shén me" in pin yin ? I ask that because you wrote xu1 yao4 SHE3 me5 at 1'45'' .

  • @SanJudasTV you mean 1:45

  • @SanJudasTV You are right. 「需要什麼?」- xu1yao4 shen2me5? Thank you very much for pointing it out. In Taiwan, however, when speaking, 「什麼」- shen2me5 sound like "shen3me5" most of the time.

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese Thanks to you i've noticed that all the chinese people i know say "shen3me5". I don't know if it has something to do with this but they all come from Southern China.

  • peggy, how do i learn chinese intonations like for example: the "Le" as in now is "Le5"?? Please help me :) thanks in advance, Peggy!

  • @aLyZa522 That goes back to the 'five tones' in Mandarin. Please check out my very first lesson on "Tones and Greetings" in Mandarin. I hope it helps. :)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese Thanks a lot, Peggy!! :)
