  • so how would i control all pc to login or lock? I tried every possible way.. but only the local machine is lock.... is there anything i could do to get all computer to lock at the same time? and does it work for windows 2008 sever?

  • @xX1siabXx hit ctrl ctrl ctrl first. That moves you into "all computer mode" you can find it in the settings.

  • thx man - this tool is so helpful

  • only way where it should be very effective which i can imagine is to be paid for playing simultaneously many game clients to get currency in game faster.

or in company where they refuse to use any remote control fw. if iam wrong, please tell me your opinion..

  • isnt better way, just to control them all under some remote control sw ? on one pc ?

  • I used synergy for a few months but i was generally unhappy with the buggy nature of it and its finicky issues. Just downloaded Mouses Without Borders and it was dead simple to install and configure. It emulates a dual screen setup nearly perfectly and i haven't experienced much issues with it over the last few days. Aside from the annoying drag and drop issues, it's overall worth the try. Only real downside is that it isn't cross platform compatible.

  • I used synergy but it was buggy, tempermental connection problems. Then I used InputDirecto which is better. but MWB looks better because you can login to all of the computers at the same time. Something about a tripple tap key (ctrl)? Im gonna try this now, only just heard about it

  • Lols looks like there is something else without borders but that's a conversation for a different channel.

  • So employees do this during their free time yet it's still a Microsoft project? LOL, Microsoft "The Garage" sounds like MS trying to do Google's "20% time" but not wanting to have to contribute anything to it. Truong should go work for Google.

  • well everything an km switch does for more then 20 years based on a hardware solution, beside there are tons of similar apps out there.

  • FINALLY!!! Been waiting for this for over a decade! Basically, "RDP Lite"!

  • I don't see why there's a "Real Samurai Sword Technique" video at the suggestions, maybe he's asian too.

  • genius guy.

  • 14 people only have one computer.

  • This would be awesome if all my computers were Windows, but that is not nor will ever be the case. I'm sure sometime soon there will be an open source Linux version that will work with Windows and Mac too. But this is neat none the less.

  • @djtron1x Hey, if you are really intrested in opensouce of this software please contact me I have programmed a replica of this in java.I will soon be uploading a video for my project on youtube

  • Genius

  • you speakee engrish eh.....

  • For some reasons I cannot get Synergy to start on startup on one of my computers.. It also requires for the connected computers to be password protected, which means I cannot ditch the keyboard and mouse that one. This programs works better for me. It also allows drag and drop between machines, which is something I think Synergy can do, but I don't know how to make it do it.

  • Make it possible to use the second computer as only monitor, like maxivista, then you would be gods!!

  • @TheYunok47 : Why not just USE MaxiVista as it does all what you are asking for?! ;-)

  • very good idea, i like it, please continue also with running applications :-)

  • Blah blah blah.. show me a DEMO !!!!

  • why not just have one computer with 3 screens on it.... that's actually not new technology

  • @jeffreyparke I've written 2 replies to someone else about this. To sum it up, the point of this program isn't to give you more monitors, it's to also give you control over more computers at once, more resources and making transferring files much easier. Multiple monitors is easy but it's not suited to everyone. I can definitely find good uses for this.

  • How come you asians are taking over in HI-tech?

  • @mikobis247 Because they spent more time learning then stuffing their faces with hamburgers.

  • doesnt work for me...keeps timing out never able to connect

  • microsoft developer has a macbook white! :)

  • @carlosalgado123 Last time I checked Microsoft develops programs for the OSx too, Microsoft isn't just an operating system. How else do you think Mac's have Microsoft Office?

  • Is that a macbook at 1:00 ?

  • huh.. he is asian so nothing special :P

  • Isn't it just easier to have one really good PC with multiple screens.

  • @xetrius One PC isn't a network. This mouse is designed to work with networks. So no, it would not be easier.

  • @oneeyedgeek example: if all the monitors of the PC's are on my desk then why would I want a network of PC's instead of one good PC with multiple monitors? and if the monitors are not all on my desk then I would not see my mouse when it goes off screen, making it useless

  • @xetrius You're making my point for me. You don't have a network so you don't need this mouse. I do have 1 PC with 3 monitors, so I don't need it. It's designed for networks. For example, a group of people working in the same room on the same project, each with their own computers. You can drag your files to your partner's computers with no problem or time wasted.

  • @oneeyedgeek

    1. I'm not making your point

    2. I'm in a network

    3. if there is a group of people why wouldn't they all want a mouse of there own?

Ps. I could only imagine me bringing my work that I did at home on my laptop to my work and putting it in a network with my work pc but except for that one time I do not see any use for it

  • @xetrius Well I have a laptop and this would be perfect for placing it next to my desktop and being able to use both of them as the program in this video does especially when compiling a project and getting on with other things or compiling multiple projects at the same time. As for a group of people, easy. Sometimes one person needs to do something for everyone or it can be used to show things off, provide support and such.

  • @xetrius The point of this isn't just that it's giving you more monitors, it's giving you multiple computers to work with which is very handy. Multiple computers means more processing power and more resources at your disposal as well as the ability to do a whole host of other things. It might not be useful to you but it's going to be very useful for quite a few of us out there.

  • @GetsugaTenshoS Thanks for your explanation and decency, those are rare (on the internet)

  • Seems like KVM?

  • Is that a mac book at 1:02 ?

  • synergy without borders

  • công cụ này rất thú vị :)

  • thật tuyệt vời, chúc anh Trường luôn thành công :)

  • Truong Do - I love you!

Best development from Microsoft for ages!!!

  • fantastic!

  • Great. Now fix the damn network connection not allowing usb lan to be used with different devices!

  • Sorry what is wrong with Synergy? Works on OS X, Linux and Windows.

  • @johncolesuk this has more function than synergy. personally i loved synergy but its buggy. and the whole client/server setup is not for the non-technical.

  • @johncolesuk Synergy is no longer being developed I think? While this may not be as good as Synergy now, given time, it can be developed into a superior software.

  • @russianspy237 No, synergy is still being developed.

  • @johncolesuk does it support drag and drop, and up to 4 PCs?

  • @AstronomicalHorizon It supports limitless PCs, and as for the drag and drop...

This software only works on one file at a time, and has no option to actually drag a file onto a program for auto-opening, nor does it dump it directly into the folder you specify (just drops it into its own folder on the desktop). Also, if the file is not physically on the pc you are dragging from (network for instance) it fails.

Not a bad start, but needs more work :3

  • @AstronomicalHorizon

It does support drag and drop, but not really. What is does when you drag a "File" (not folder) from your PC to the remote screen, it will create a folder on the desktop of the remote and copy the file to that folder. So you have no control at all of where you drop the file. You can better just drop the the file in your mapped folder from the remote computer, more control that way.

  • @AstronomicalHorizon It supports as many computers running OS X, Linux and Windows that you have. I have seen it working on 8 computers.

  • @johncolesuk Copy and paste fails 75% of the time =/ (and no drag/drop for files)

  • @johncolesuk its not a Microsoft product...

  • Work for MS and you too can work on your days off.

  • nice try at doing an Apple :p

  • This is a good idea...

  • or you could use synergy... open source program that will work with unlimited computers and it's FREE

  • Awesome I'll keep this in mind.

  • nice try :)

  • The latest version of synergy gui config u just drag and drop your PC to their desire location, no more defining which one is left or right of the other. Makes it idiot proof. And it's cross platform.... Seriously, if you work many with many computer you probably running different OSs.

  • @kaede15: I agree. If you have a Master computer and Four Slaves, you already have enough processing power to do some serious crunching.

How long has Creative Commons had such a thing? Five years? Ten? Master and Slaves were used as far back as the 1960s in the first Cray Super-Computers for SINT!

  • Synergy with a few other apps can do exactly this it's just Microsoft branding another thing.

  • It's like Synergy, but with a Windows logo...

  • @VariantSolutions Better than Synergy. You can move files across computers quickly and copy paste between them. The latest version of Synergy was very buggy for me; it prevented my computers from sleeping or turning off their monitors so I'm gonna give this a try.

  • @VariantSolutions

It's a little different but not much. Synergy can't drag and drop files for instance, Nice feature but not really a must have. Shame this only runs on Windows machines, so quiet useless in a multi OS network like mine. I use synergy on my laptop to control my studio computer and my HTPC, there is even a port for Android.

  • it seems like a good idea. but i think being able to use multiple mouses and keyboards on one computer simultaniously would be a better thing. however i think if you combine these two ideas you have a damn good idea. you could have say 4 screens in a big block so for movies you drag the pic over the 4 or gaming you can have a screen for each player. you would essentially have a supercomputer cause it would seem asif 4pcs are running one. as for copying from 1 pcto another win+e>network does that

  • Synergy was fine. But never seemed to be 100% feature complete. Another advantage of synergy, is its cross-platform support. However, since I am currently only running windows, I will be switching to this great new program.

  • very usifulll, i like it :)

  • 1:46 Stop gaming at work XD

  • Now let me control multiple applications on one computer with mulltiple keyboards and mice.

  • @GameFreakDude yeah fuckin ay, ive been looknig for a program to da that for like 10 years now (since srious sam 1). if you ever find one can you let me know

  • This is great! can't live without it anymore!

  • Input Director clone, herp derp.

  • Was that a white mac book on his desk?

  • Hey, a MSFT brother here, Great software :)

  • The Redmond guys have started their photocopiers, again.

This software is a photocopy of Synergy, an older open-source project.

Except that Synergy is cross-platform, and isn't limited to 4 screens...

  • @kizkoool but it doesn't do drag & drop files, it doesn't work with Login screens and UAC dialogs, and harder to set up

  • @kizkoool Also Synergy is a shit peice of open source software even on WIndows. It doesn't even have a user friendly UI let alone a UI at all on Mac Or Linux. The features it has don't work right, not to mention the features it lacks.

The ideal KVM software for Windows is Input Director. It far surpasses synergy and this "Mouse without borders" project was basically copied from it.

  • @tttekev Yup, Synergy takes at least a little bit of brainpower to get up and running. Open source doesn't make it 'shit', it works perfectly well if you have the brains to tie your own shoes and not drool on them (Meaning: Read the F...ine Manual). The cross-platform ability alone already marks it miles ahead of this poor-man's copycat with shinier graphics.

  • Hey Microsoft, you got the wrong Washington on the map lol.

  • where did he go?

  • Congratulations Truong! You rock!

  • Truong, PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE make an OS X version -- I know, Microsoft employee and all, but Microsoft makes other OS X software (office, etc.) :)

PLEASE! I'm using Synergy right now since I use Mac \ Windows and Linux workstations side by side...your software is awesome, except it's not cross-platform compatible. Would you consider joining the Synergy project at all? Think about it :)

  • We Vietnamese are very proud of you Truong! Keep up the good work bro!

  • We Vietnamese are very proud of you Truong! Keep up the good work bro!

  • I just downloaded it and it is awesome. Works very smooth, is very easy to set up and is really usefull. :)

  • amazing

  • @jugobugo i think he said he got a master degree... and he got a house so hmm yeah

  • @jugobugo You can't say that! If you have the knowledge, you can go anywhere, money is not the point!

For you're comment, SHAME ON YOU MAN!, shame on you...

  • @jugobugo You are going to fail in live :)

  • Does this mean both PC's need to be in the same room as the user? can i drag and drop a file to a computer in another room(and actually see what I'm doing)?

  • Does this mean both PC's need to be in the same room as the user? can i drag and drop a file to a computer in another room(and actually see what I'm doing)?

  • pretty goodd... lol

  • Search the web for "Synergy". Different PCs with ... different OSs

[Reinvention of a wheel that's car specific, is way cooler, I suppose.]

  • @tallend9 had the same thought, but the file sync is a nice add-on.

  • daumen runter wenn ihr von chip.de da seid :D

  • daumen hoch wenn ihr wegen chip.de da seid :D

  • Careful with the name Microsoft, Apple might sue you for using "Garage" in your products name.

    Its cool feature though.

  • Linux

  • i know its irrelevant here but can anyone give me a link to the background music?

  • I think it's cool how the video's music is roughly 417.3 times louder than the guys voice.

  • Cool idea - sounds a lot like Synergy. You can't drag and drop files with synergy though, which is a feature I have wanted for a long time.

  • someone tell microsoft that a program called "Synergy" released in..2003 and did that job... it is still being in development and it's open-source and cross-platform.. it's NOT an ms-innovation..

    synergy-foss . org

  • @mosky7 Synergy doesn't let you drag and drop files across desktops. Nor can you log on or lock all PCs from one.

  • @mosky7 Wow! Thanks...

  • MacBook @1:00 LOL MS.

  • @varquez7 What is wrong with a Microsoft employee using a Mac?

  • @L1ke20N1njas don't you get it? you own a company with a really known name, and you own a competitors product? didn't you get it?

  • @varquez7 Since Apple is a hardware and software company while MSFT is software only, I don't really see anything wrong either with him using a Mac. You can install Windows on it after all.

  • @varquez7 Yes, I get that but there is nothing wrong with it... Maybe he uses some programs that are Mac only?

  • @varquez7 They Microsoft makes Office for Mac, so at least one person there must have a Mac at their desk.

  • @varquez7 Microsoft didn't fire him. That means they don't care.

  • @varquez7

    Bizarre?

MS didn't made PC, they just do the software,

I guess you never seen a Macbook can installed MS Windows since 2006.
