I love my white MacBook 13", but this new desgine is horrible, too dark!
OSX Tiger was much more beutiful compare to leopard, which is also too dark!
And the other thing that I love on the trackpad of my Macbook is that it do not have a tap function to click. The same tap function that led me and everyone I know great disconfort in using the trackpad on windows/linux and always buying a cary-on mouse
I've got a white MacBook. I've found it felt a little bit too flexible, it always showed up the dirt. and the trackpad worn to a very shiny dull yellow in only a few months.
Couple weeks ago I bought the new aluminium Macbook, and have no regrets, this feels so solid compared to my white MacBook. Performance is so much better, and I don't expect the multi-gesture glass trackpad to get worn down like the older MacBook.

shame i bought my macbook pro 17 inch 2 months ago. oh well cant complain. Overall the macbook pros imo didnt get uped to much, the new macbooks and the new macbook airs on the other hand have gotten pretty damn good. IGN says it can now run COD4 on mid which isnt bad at all. Ill most likely now end up getting a macbook air instead of a voodoo envy 133 for a light end laptop for on the go
So Steve Jobs is not putting a blue ray compatible super drive? Can't he just make it compatible and not recordable? pointless I know, but who knows what's next..
i have the macbook pro before this new one and i was wondering if the ddr3 ram on the new macbook pro is alot faster or just a little than the previous version with ddr2.
i just want to no if its a big speed difference if you know
im not sure which i might get cuz my friend just got the old macbook pro and said that it had a defected graphics card, but i like how the older 1 looks with white compared to the new 1. The new one still has some upgrades to the older one but i don't think it is a lot different is the graphics in the newer one WAY better or just a bit better than the old one?
I stopped by the Apple store and took a look at the new MB and MBP.
The colors were extremely vibrant and sharp. Both laptops seemed to run equally fast, the keyboard was comfortable, they felt very sturdy, and they looked great.
"We went hands-on with the new notebooks in a typically lit room, neither too bright nor too dark, and the reflection was incredibly distracting." - IGN
I'm gonna hold out until the 17 inch comes out (never been a big fan of the 17"... but just in case something really good comes out of it... like a touch screen... maybe... one day...)
Your Macbook Pro right now is definitely fast enough for everything you need to do today. I don't think the new products are worth an upgrade unless you want a smaller laptop.
I think the new Macbook Pro has very little upgrades over the last Macbook Pro. The only significant upgrade with this announcement is the 13" Macbook, which is now also aluminum.
Thanks for all the Apple info, good stuff. Apple does need to start listening to more consumer demand though (like the inclusion or option of Blu-ray like you were saying). But it is good to see them integrating nVidia graphic cards (good brand). Nice to see you're back with regular videos.
PS - How's your new TV doing? I just bought a 40" Samsung HDTV last night and I am LOVING IT!
I bought my MBP a month or so ago... I dont really regret not waiting...
The new MB's look nice I guess... but I personally dont like the the spaced out keys, or the black boarder. Also dont like the glass screen (no non glare matte option)
new MB seems like its just as good as a MBP...but if I were you I'd go MBP for one simple reason. You already have the old MBP and I would think it would be a little difficule to go DOWN in display size from 15 to 13. If they offere a MB in a 15 I might consider it. But other than that the new MB seems like a good machine.
Excellent video. Very informative. I'm seriously considering buying my first macbook in the near future so I am definitely going to watch more of your videos.
AFAICT the new MacBooks will be faster, as they have DDR3 RAM running at 1067MHz, previous generation used DDR2 at 667MHz. Plus the new MacBooks have Nvidia 9400M graphics, this runs rings around the integrated Intel graphics, especially for gaming.
Yeah, the two tone makes it look almost like my HP laptop right now -.-, I really liked the old macbook, white and black layouts except for the fact that they got dirty quick. The only upside to this is that it's aluminum now and it won't look as dirty. also I like the that they added the illuminated keys for the higher end macbooks
Great vid man. However, I don't think Apple will come out with a sub $900 computer any time soon. To get a portable that cheap (and to have a sizable profit margin and to recoup development cost), Apple would have to sacrifice a lot on design and features. If Apple does release a sub $900 device, I see it being in the netbook format and it would be expensive ($700-800). At this point the netbook market is new and Apple hasn't been quick to jump into the latest tech craze.
Apple, when considering only to drop the macbook price to $999, was taking into account that most of the consumers buying the lower end macbook would be students. Therefore the price would be more in the $900 dollar price range when you include the student discount. Great video!
you cant, the graphics card is soldered into the logic board. You cant easily remove it. That said, even if you manage to remove it, there isn't a product to replace it with, so you will pretty much be stuck with a paperweight then. I looked into this a while ago as well =P

This event was alright. I thought the Macbook revisions were great. It looks awesome, definitely and upgrade from the now $999 version. The cinema display also is awesome. Integrated iSight, speakers, and mic all welcome additions. The Macbook Pro only has one flaw for me. The internal upgrades are of course welcomed. I like the reshaped case and ports on 1 side. You can drag with the current MacBook/Pro trackpad. Just tap and drag (it can be configured in the System Preferences) granted, it's a little cludgy, but it's there.
I hate the look of the new Macbook Pros. What's with this two tone bullshit? It's bling now, like a Sony Vaio. Give me the minimalist monochromatic aluminium aesthetic anytime. My next notebook will be the Macbook Air for that very reason alone -- it still retains the minimalist feel.
No it isn't. It's great for mobile computing and most importantly - light. I already have an MBP and as a secondary computer the Air currently ticks all the boxes.
Thats kind of the point of the MacBook Air. High on portability, low on options. It's market was never pointed at being a primary computer/notebook. It's more of a secondary computer/notebook and isn't aimed at everyone.
IMO the Air is a very expensive executive toy. Totally overpriced for what you get. 1 USB port and NO ethernet port !! Come on Apple what was you thinking when it comes to connectivity? Even 'ultramobile' netbook computers have 2 or 3 USB ports, ethernet and cardreader slots.
The Air should at least have an ethernet port for use in hotel rooms etc. After all the Air is intended as a mobile device is it not ?
IMO that makes it not that much good as a travelling laptop Because a lot of the hotel rooms I've stayed in, have an ethernet jack in the wall but no wifi in the room itself.
Yeh I know you can get USB to ethernet dongles.
I still stand by my original comment about in its current form its an 'expensive executive toy'.
For the benefit of everyone reading this, I'm not an Apple hater, as I have an older MacBook Pro and an aluminium unibody MacBook. But I'm not a fanboy of all Apple products.
Well no one said that everyone's suited for the MacBook Air.
True, it would be a lot better if it had more ports, but Apple was mainly trying to target people that want a thing laptop, and not necessarily an adequate ultraportable.
To be honest, most people with the Air use it as their secondary, and perhaps even a tertiary computer. It's all about the image.
Depends on what you need it for. That $300 gives you a dedicated video card (great for games and visual effects in the OS) and a larger screen. However, MacBook is no slouch either. It's smaller form factor is appealing. If this is going to be your primary computer (or plan on playing alot of 3D games), I'd say get the MacBook Pro. If you're going to be using it mostly for general purpose and don't mind the smaller screen, get the MacBook. Don't forget to add Apple Care to the cost.
yeah then I'll probably go for the regular macbook for it's size, because although it's going to be my main computer, I don't really need that great of a graphics card since i don't game as often as I used to.
Another thing to consider, that I just realized. The MacBook doesn't have a firewire port. So that pretty much rules out video editing with a DV equipment. SUCKS!
The only thing that sucks about the new Cinema Displays that it only works with Macbook, MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air laptops living out Mac Mini, Mac Pro owners with the standard 4 year old display I hope by MacWorld they will have the LED-Cinema for the Mac Pro owners i've been waiting along time for Apple to bring out a new display and my dream got squashed when I found out that it only works with Mac laptops with display port.
glossy is not necessary better if you are a photo editor. It does not show the true images of a picture as in a matte screen. It is mostly personnal preference, i perfer a matte screen as it shows the true colours and offers less glare in high light situations.

Hello, nice video!
I'm from Holland and I'm looking to buy a macbook. But I've got one question.
Can somebody explain me why the new model only has a speed of 2.0 Ghz when the previous cheapest model had 2.1 Ghz?
Does this mean the new macbook is less fast?
And in what way will you experience the difference between the 2.0 ghz model and the 2.4 ghz model?
JurjenJM 3 years ago
They more than likely dropped it to 2.0ghz because there is almost no noticeable difference between 2.1ghz and 2.0ghz.
As for 2.0 vs 2.4 you would probably notice a difference, but not if you are just doing casual things. ie. Safari, text editing, etc.
