To the comment about a chevelle or 442 the 442 is the way to go my father has had many olds cutlasses and we love them Iand chevelles aren't rare at all.
There had been studies on the brain of addicts-any kind, drug/alcohol,etc. the one part of the brain if I am correct it is in whole or part of the limbic that just by showing the addict their drug of choice this part of the brain lit up in a light red color just by seeing it. Well when I just watched this video I bet the farm my limbic lit up fire engine red. I guess I am addicted to 442's, always been. Owned 7 oldsmobiles including 3 cutlass, 1 a 71 442. You have an exceptional car there.
@365degrees I love them too. My first was a 67 Cutlass Supreme. It was fast. Then I got a 71 442 W-30. It would fly! When I see these old muscle cars or hear them or both my heart starts beating faster & I get all giddy. LOL! It's something in the blood. :-)
Nice W-30! I've got a 70 W-30 with 56,000 org miles that's Aspen green with black stripes with dark green interior. 455 with a 4 gear. Absolutely a blast to drive! I love it!!
I have seen a 442 here in Long Beach, CA. It looks like it needs a new paint job because it is starting to rust, it needs new wheels and the front has a knock from a fender bender. I swear everyday I pass it on my way to school, that 442 tells me, "Elvis, get a job and buy me, fix me up so we can kick some ass on the street". Lol xD It sucks because I'm only 16.
@elr456 don't give up your dream! I'm dreaming of that car too. How I wish I had the money to go and search one and buy it. It's such a beautiful car!!! I love it!!!!
@ford1979truck / Did a "on frame" restoration in the mid to late '80s. Greg Rollin, the 442 Guru from Supercars Unlimited supervised and did most of it. Paint & interior were redone (original colors), underside and engine stripped and painted.
Thank you for the compliments! By the way, I love Fords too- like you!
Your paint looks candy in that sunlight. Great job, only 6-9 coats of clear I'd guess. Haha and days and days of sanding and polishing. Beautiful car, no orange peel (:
Thank you! It's Glasruit paint- I think it's German. Whatever it was- the stuff was expensive! Believe it or not, it's never been color sanded, just lightly polished- never cut with heavy compound. The painter was a popular vintage Ferrari painter in Portland, and I was lucky enough to have him shoot this, in about 1989 or so. He did a great job!
nice 442!!!! i have a 72 buick skylark my bro has a 1972 cutlass supreme were into old cars big time.. did you ever wach the movie (demolition man) sylvester stalone and westley snipes.. its the same exact car they used same color as yours and everything its a great movie....
i have a 442 just like that but its candy brandy wine color its a 4 spd w/black interior and the wing on the back and it is all original ang good shape clean car
Stunning. I test drove one like it (Rally Red w/ white stripes) at O'Neill Oldsmobile in KC in July of 1970. Have lusted after it ever since. The idle of the 4-speed W-30 is beautiful music. Thanks for the video!
You are one lucky bastard. I have always wanted that car. One of my uncles was a class A mechanic for an olds dealer for 38 years and he used to tell me about that car...When I was 18 I could have bought one for $1500. I could now, but not for what they go for now. Good luck. It's beautiful.
Thank you! I paid $750.00 for it in 1975; I too worked for an Olds dealer and the car had come in on trade. Since then, it's been in good hands and will remain so.
Well, at this point the only way I'll ever get one is a model. You can't even get a Cutlass of that vintage for less than $5000. It's like someone passed the crack pipe around when people put ads in the classified. It's a funny world. You have to see what passes as a $3000-5000 vintage car on craigslist in Iowa. I guess use meth instead of crack. :)
Actually, the yellow is gold. Yes, I thought about changing it years ago. However, I chose to retain the colors that the vehicle left the factory with. Gold, black, or white were the choices. This is the only Rallye Red / Gold W-30 I've seen.
Stock exhaust system except for the mufflers, they are vintage Turbo Mufflers. The 4 speed W-30 cars all have pretty nasty OEM cams; that adds to the ear candy!
If you're ever in Portland, OR - I'll take you for a ride in this one. I bought this car when I was 16 (in 1975), it's my "first car" and I'll always keep it.
