  • Please consider disassembling the hub and making a video so we can see what broke inside. If you don't want to tackle that, take it to your bike shop to make a vid, I bet someone there would love to see the inside of one of these.

  • whats the point of your vid... its just stupid.

  • My Nexus 7 is first generation and didn't brake yet. This speed hub is very reliable that's my opinion

  • I am using Shimano Nexus 7 for six years and i don't have any problem with hub. I would like to know how that happened.

  • @prulcan me too use 3 years nexus 7....

  • I have exactly the same problem; I am now deciding whether to have a mechanic look at it or just replace. Ouch$

  • This happened to me. Took it to a Shimano Authorized repair place and they found that a bearing was lodged in the gear..

  • In gears 6-7-8 it would be best to reduce or release pressure on the pedals. Cable adjustment? Hub adjustment? Axle nuts tightened properly? Had it ever been serviced? There is nothing to go wrong with the hub so long as you satisfy these things. Notwithstanding a defect, of course. A worn shifter, especially grip or twist style, can cause over/under shift. They should be replaced annually depending on mileage. Overuse of the coaster brake can also cause problems in some instances.

  • I have the same problem. Have you solved it?

  • @BreakerenIHuset some kilometers later, it broke (it blocked). replaced it. :|
