Is this supposed to be hip hop? There's a lot of lyrical in there, with some watered down hip hop moves included. The slender kid on the left has some nice moves though.

if you knew mark (like I do) you would know that when he choreographs he tells us (24-vii dancers) that he doesnt like to label anything as a certain style of dance. he pulls from many different styles to create a dance piece. that is what makes him so unique and unforgettable. i mean who is to say that you cant put lyrical and hip hop in the same combination. without experimentation we would never have many dance styles that have become so popular today.

So? Fusing different styles is common, so he's not unique in that respect. But the description has it labeled as hip hop. I also came here because a friend wanted me to look at this "amazing" hip hop dancer, but I'm not buying it. Not that the dance is bad, but there's nothing I haven't seen hundreds of fairly competent dancers do. I see random, competent dancing.

Yes, the CONCEPT of fusing different styles may have become common, but each combination and idea is unique and shows Mark's originality. I love Mark and think he's an amazing dancer/choreographer.

why do they call him a contemporary dancer if he's actually a hip hop dancer? are all his solos gonna be hip hop on the show? this guy reminds me of kameron bink.

Because that's the type of dancer he entered the competition as, he entered with a contemporary solo. Mark studied mostly contemporary or jazz (I think he even studied ballet when he was really young) and then when he got older he added hip-hop and other street dance to his skills. Just because he's labeled "contemporary" doesn't mean he can't teach or choreograph other styles... it just shows he's well rounded.
