Lady Gaga, since she is very well known in the fashion industry, was asked to be musical director for Mugler's show, so obviously she remixed the track so that it would fit Mugler's image and designs. If you want shallow and rehashed bubblegum pop then listen to Britney Spears or Katy Perry.

The Fame era was very much about stereotypical pop stars, hence the blonde hair and "lighter" image. The Fame Monster era was darker, and her look also changed with that. And now the Born The Way era will see yet another change from her.
