This is rock, R&B, FUNK fusion....you can't label this kind of music...it is what it is and it is Nasty, toe jam, woman hasn't washed or douched that thing in a coupla months, ass sweat music!! Just plain good ole funkadelic!! Long live George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic!!!
this is from f.u.n.k.e from akron ohio cant wait to recoed with you george, and have the robotts dance with us check out cornbreadstudeo/face book ernestchatman@gmail.com ok ? everyone is wellcome.
Man this type of funk would scare the shit out of main stream. Thats the only reason why they didnt sell like dredd Lepplin and such. They were essentially a rock band with a jazz, R&B sheen.
@Idawa61 You may be able to find it Amazon. What region are you in, because in California - the San Francisco Bay Area, there is a store called Rasputins, that sell classic cds, records, movies, etc. After seeing George Clinton on Unsung, I know I am building up my collection - to show my grandkids what's up, when they get older. I don't think he's even getting royalties for any of the music he made.
@bathinapefanatic8 all i can tell is they were like super heroes, and the video (this is one of the few clear ones) give you about 20 percent of the juice you felt being there, and trust me the sound would be inside you for a week. remember there were no computers on stage making sound, real musicians playing every note, every voice,..it was something to behold.
@sleepybrownbear - FUNK IS NOT DEAD it's living in my mind, in my vinyl on my shelf, on my cassettes, reel to reels and in MP3's...I GOTS DA FUNK, OVER HERE, - - Did you let it die in you?
@willthethrill129 - FUNK CAN NEVER DIE! FUNK IS EVERYWHERE! FUNK IS IN EVERY GENRE, LISTEN CLOSELY AND YOU FEEL THE FUNK IN NEARLY EVERY SONG...IF YOU DON'T GET THE FUNK THEN YOU'RE FUNKED UP! PEACE, LOVE & FUNK U VERY MUCH!...Disco Dave, Toronto Canada!
@CYRAPHYM I forget who I saw wearing the t-shirt in '94... Either it was P-Nut Johnson or maybe it was Clip (Michael Payne), but the shirt said: "Funk didn't die, it just went to the bathroom".
@sleepybrownbear I dont know bout you but I saw P-Funk play in San Jose a couple months ago and I can tell you that the funk isn't dead in California and it never will be
Dayum George was a cool mofo on stage! Ultimate showmman for the '70s era my goodness. I see whole lotta folks copying his sh*t after viewing this vid. i.e. Prince....
man george couldnt dance or hardly sing, well maybe alittle. But he could promote and keep the band making magic. He is straight tripping, but its SO working.
I got most of the P Funk records. "The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein" was my favorite. The ultimate in funkiness. By that time they were knee deep in funk. So much talent.. Bernie Worrell on keyboards, Bootsy thumpin' on bass, Maceo and the Horny Horns..
Agreed... cat can blow. The whole horn section is incredibly tight, the lyrics are inspired weirdness ["Kiss me on my ego"], the backing vocals, as has been observed, are superb, the bass locks in with the drums... phenomenal performance. And what a stage show, with the costumes & lighting, plus the onstage presence... whew.
Rap music ws not invented by George Clinton he created the FOUNDATION for funk music along with isacc hayes james brown and rugus thomas.thru funk hip hop was born from cool herc.
