  • I don't see any room for food.

  • To lighten up, get a North Face Verto jacket to replace the rain shell, replace the tent with a eagle's nest hammock.

  • first aid kit?

  • how will you wash up or brush your teeth?

  • Lastly I also recommend a golite poncho tarp it is a poncho that can be used as a tarp tent and it is only 7 ounces

  • May I also recommend the vargo titanium wood stove the thermarest neo air (14 ounces) and the Patagonia down shirt (somewhere under 5 ounces)

  • May I recommend the north face verto jacket it only weighs 3 ounces

  • pack liner?

  • Pack liners found at Gossamer gear under pack accessories, you get 2 for $3. you can go lighter on head lamp at wally world, just buy the light that will attach to your cap you mentioned. Photon Micro light weighs almost nothing at REI. For Tents, check out Zpacks Hexamid solo that weighs half what the contrail weighs and its a little roomier. I am saving up myself for 1, can't wait! I haven't posted any videos yet but will soon as I'm getting down under 7.5 lbs base weight. Ultralight hiking!!!

  • Does the side pocket stretch? It didn't appear to. I'm interested in this pack for the same reason you are. I'd second the recommendation for a trash compactor bag as a pack liner that way you don't have to hunt for your pack cover if it starts to rain. I use an old contact lens solution bottle for my alcohol stove. 11 lbs ain't too shabby. That contrail will save you alot of space as well. Thanks for the video!

  • @jduckett1985 That's an issue I'm having, the side pocket has absolutely NO give. It's flush against the pack. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Quilt. NeoAir or Exped UL7 pad for comfort, or a small ccf pad for weight savings. I would use a pack liner. Compactor bag will work. Heine cook pot. I would store the fuel outside the pack. Drop the bladder and use plastic bottles. How about water filtration/purification? Where will your food fit in that pack once it is filled with all your gear? How about a flashlight/headlamp? Your set up looks pretty good, but there are probably a few things you will realize you are leaving out.
  • - wrap electrician's tape around fuel bottle so it doesn't get sipped on. denat alc gets you so drunk.

    enjoy your hike!

  • some suggestions:

    - pack the rain jacket in outside pocket/top of pack for quick access.

    - ditch hyrdo system, use the bottle. hydro systems can be awkward to fill, get moldy, and encourage you to drink.

    - i ditched the cookset and eat a mountainhouse/backpackerspantry meal on the first night, and re-use the freeze dried bag for ramen or potatoes or dehydrated veggies the rest of the trip. i heat water in a titanium cup. it saves ounces and space.

  • @Sudeste1982 Thanks for the input! For this weekend I'll strap my raingear to the outside. I got rid of the bladder in favor of the bottle, as well as a platypus water bag. As for cooking, the pot is essentially just a cup, and I like to get a bit more creative with meals ;)

  • you probably can't lighten your load too much more! (accept for the tent) i can think of a few things that you may be forgetting, you'll figure that out soon enough though.
