Because it was qualifications. He wanted to play it safe to

A) Help his team

and

B) Make sure he qualified into EF

Oh, and it was less risky for his AA qualification score too.

@muckraker87 There are 2 bars for women and 1 bar for the man, and their bar's are metal so they can move quicker and do higher, and more difficult release moves, women's bars are made of wood
