  • GREAT TIME FOR MUSIC, MUSIC SUCKS NOW !

  • This is my favorit song by the Human League. I was rockin to them in the 80s. I was punk teen girl in the 80s. Oh how I miss those days!!

  • @mattie591 you said it. would give anything to be a teenager in the 80's again.

  • I think this song's too short. It's just so great while it lasts!

  • It's so Ritz Paris, love it !

  • cool - takes me back to the eighties....

  • ..!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw them live here in Los Angeles.....you all want to see them check out my page..they still sing good!!!! great show!!

  • Great song 1982

  • @weirdscience85 Couldn't agree more!!

  • The song is good, but the video sucks!

  • The end of Mod and the start of the new romantics-a defining moment

  • love it

  • this is WILD LIFE!!! : )

  • ANOS 80 SÃO ELES!

  • The boating actions shown here was an actual incident, if I am not mistaken. Does anyone have the exact information of that film and when it was taken?

  • @MrCowboyJesus It was John Cobb attempting to break the world water speed record on Loch Ness on 29th September 1952. Cobb was tragically killed in the accident.

  • Wasn't the ending of the video meant to be a visual metaphor for the band?

  • I LOVE HUMAN LEAGUE!!! :D

  • Just saw them at Mountain Winery. They are hot! I love Joanne the most!

  • @boywondfw Going to see them next Thursday - cannot wait! Hail to the great 80s!

  • @boywondfw yeah, Joanne is Kissable !!

  • HUMAN LEAGUE IN NEW YORK CITY NEXT WEEK!!!

  • THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CHOON AINT IT.......

  • "and if it seems, im not the one you used to know- our little friendship- left behind long ago; dont feel too hurt- cause distance heals the strongest pain- things are much better now- and just the nagging doubt remains..."

  • Am I the only that thinks Phil Oakley looks like Jason Swartzman? If 'The Movie' Is made There you have it. Greay song fom the 80's. You just cant duplicate the excitement one feels just before a night of clubbing when this and many others were fresh and new and 'climbing the charts'

  • I just went through some kind of 'Time Warp', listening to Human league - Mirror man, and Talk Talk - its my life. I got to dig out my bright red shoes, with shiny black pants and start 'kicking it up' like some kind of maniac. CAN YOU DIG IT?

  • An absolute magical song. This era of music will be hard to topple. Class for the time.

  • Girls are so cute.

  • hermoso sonido

  • The gals look modern and chic.

  • Eight people don't like what they see when they look in the mirror.

  • And thus began the 80s Motown/Northern Soul revival

  • Ashes To Ashes :) Gene Hunt

  • ahhhhhh the 80's what happened to the "whitestake" crowd?????? Kerry,Sammy,Mark,Stephen,Richard,Lynne,Tony,Leslie,Philip,Yvonne,Sharon,Donna,Dawn, hayley,Jane and Paul Haslem, Sharon and Lynne Taylor????

  • The Leaguers hit #30 in Billboard, 11-19-83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I like the snuff footage with the exploding jet boat. How about using SS Challenger next time - that was a blast too :) LOL

  • what's the name of that toy at 0:31,is it a viewfinder?

  • No one can sing this song like Phil Oakey.

  • I REALLY like this song, I suffered through a Pitbull adv for it! LOL

  • @Dashland13 I suffered through a Peter Kay advert for it! :oP

  • @Dashland13 grrrrrrrrrrrrrr goddam ad about j z and beyonce dam baby, who fucking caressssssss dam,,,,,,,, glad its healthy and but shit.......millions of more babies are being born as speak

  • @orgasmtron1 glad its healthy and all.......but millions are being born as we speak.....sorry correcting mistake

  • @orgasmtron1 I had to suffer through an advert for some of Rhianna's garbage. Why would they assume we are interested in such abject rubbish?

  • @apparentlybrian I know, stupid shit aye bro

  • Sheffield sucks....

  • press them all - it will sound ok

  • This song is and the blonde are hot! Just wanted to get straight to the point.

    Love the 80s jam.

  • @imissthe80s100 Sheffield is not a shithouse.. Its one of the best cities ever. i love living here... Hell its the only place where you can run into Jarvis Cocker at the bar, see Phil Oakey dressed as a baby Ghandi and chat up a conversation with an Arctic Monkey on the way back to his mums for tea...

  • @alternageek I lived in Sheffield. I twas a shithouse. I hated living there.

  • Love the intermittent footage of the 60's Lord Malcolm something- or- other.....definitely royalty......crashing his effing boat, and dying, at about, who knows, 300 mph?

  • @jdevassy1 malcolm campbell

  • @imissthe80s100

true man! i deeply loved london in the 70's and 80's ( i'm a bloody old fart! :) i remember that in those yeas L. (i'm from italy) was for the world's youth "the" promise land! a free town where everything was happening before all the other places.I've been there 1 year ago and i was si dissapointed! is becomed a sad and agressive town ,where people is NOT special anymore and is like munich, milan etc all you have is apple, nike, strabucks , etc. we need a fucking big change man!

  • @pontello3 I totally agree with you Pontello! Because I moved back to London from the US recently and I regret it. I wish to God I was your age but I was born in London in the late 70s so I was too young to experience the awesome and hot music and art scenes that London had going on from the 60s through the 80s sadly! I thought Stephen Hawking was supposed to be a genius but I see he hasn't told anybody how to build a time machine yet or where to find that wormhole because that's where I'd be!

  • @imissthe80s100

yea i know ,when i said london i meant that that town was "the" town of music , fashions, trends, creativity,

    art and "vibes"

so for me the good uk music form the past years means london , cause' it was the center of "something" that is not anymore.. :(

  • je,bent,veranderlyk,in,moods,okay,dat,weet,ik,changes

  • Best Phil Oakey song ever.

  • @A5HLEYHALLOW51 I agree. This song brings back good memories: of my early teenage years and of my first girlfriend. Although we broke up a long time, I still love this song.

In my humble opinion, the best groups of the 1980s were from the UK (Brit Pop). They eclipsed most of the groups that were around then. Today few groups can compare with them. Long live Sheffield, Manchester, etc.

  • great song!!!!!!!!!!!

i miss london of the 80's ! i miss this sound this pop! i miss when england was number one in the world for music...how sad now! :(

  • And used pretty effectively on the menus on the Ashes to Ashes Region 2 DVDs...

  • sure does bring back the memories this

  • אירופה של שנות השמונים.... לפני שהתמלאה במוסלמים ורוצחים

  • @doctorpc2 exactly

  • Phil looks so damn hot. Yowza.

  • Great view into my past , I was so cool to have listened to this .

  • Phil was hot with all of that makeup and all that hair back in the day. He's not ugly these days either but I do miss the hair. At least Phil's body is still in check though. Last time I checked he wasn't fat. Now if only Tony from Spandau Ballet could finally lose the weght for good and keep it off! LOL

  • @jrmetmoi oh yeah!

  • @jrmetmoi Totally agree with you on everything!! He was (and still is) HOT! Even though he's older and doesn't have the hair I think he's still smokin. I'm also glad that he's kept his bod, you can't say that about a lot of older rockers these days.

  • @jrmetmoi Tony was a riot on Modern family. I was so happy to see he could take the piss out of himself. It was hilarious.

  • @jrmetmoi

i agree about handsome Mr. Oakey.

  • I wish I could have 3-somed with those girls.

  • I LOVE HUMAN LEAGUE!!!

  • i agree best group ever, brilliant melodies, my favourite

  • BEST SYNTH POP OF ALL TIME. HUMAN LEAGUE WERE THE BEST. PHIL OAKEY IS A FREAKING GENIUS.

  • Fuck VEVO!!!

  • best. pop. band. ever. enough said. xD

  • "The wild life" -

  • First of all, I can't beleive this song only has 78,681 views! Second, that only 218 stopped to click that they liked the song. Great music from a great time in life.

  • @mrbug825

I agree with you; it's the song that stroke me the most from that band !!!

  • The boat scene is the crash that was attributed to the Loch Ness monster when the racer was going for the worlds speed record.

  • Joanne and Susan Ann are so beautiful.

Still are to this day, and always will be.

  • good times

  • i absolutely love this song, saw them live at V Festival Stafford, UK 2 years ago and they were fab!

  • i absolutely love this song, saw them live at V Festival Stafford, UK 2 years ago and they were fab!

  • Adam Ant is the Mirror Man

  • 80's synth-pop FTW

  • saw it live in brussels.... loved it

  • Haven't heard of this song until after watching a tv show called "Ashes to Ashes".... and I fell in love with it ever since. :D

  • GREAT SONG!!!!!!! Still sounds excellent after all these years!

  • 0:40 Oh what a scheiß XD

  • I miss the 80s ! I Wonder what the destination was on the blue Pan Am ticket that is on the wall at the beginning ?

  • i want to do this song with my keyboard, but i don't know which keys to press

  • @MrTamiya89

    You truly are a trapmire

  • what do you mean?

  • @MrTamiya89 Try some of the white ones and mix it up a bit with some of the black ones. From time to time try pressing more than one key at a time using two or more fingers on one or other of both hands. Sway gently to the beat you create making sure you keep in time with the original. Either that or go and buy the music sheet!

  • Only thing I don't like about the video is the boat scenes, I'm sure there's some message behind it that I just don't get but to me it totally takes away from the other parts of the video. Just seems like 2 completely different compositions. IDK, anyone else think this?

  • Damn, do I miss the '80s. What brilliant fun.

  • May day, may Day I want her more than my Porsche 911 S

  • pretty insensitive to have donald campbells water speed record attempt going through the vid though, he died trying it!!!

  • @cmilk1978 its not Donald Campbell, its John Cobb, attempting to break the world water speed record on Loch Ness on 29 September 1952, who also died trying

  • @TheWacoKid1963 fair enough! was trying to be all knowledgable there as well. Then i make the same point using your superior information then haha.

  • What does the stock footage of a speed boat have to do with anything??? "The Mirror Man was tragically killed in a boating accident. He broke into a million pieces."

  • Comment removed

  • @getabox ahhh i see

  • Girls, those fur coats are politically incorrect these days; If you don't want PETA on your asses, get rid of them.

  • @kja427 The eighties was a fun time period, nobody worried about political correctness. Then the 90s came along, and everything had to be PC, and nothing was fun anymore. We also lost the great creative music of the 70s and 80s.

  • well for u kathy webb hope you are sober,, as we leave 2010 as 2011 comes i am really scare,, holding on to what,,,,,, at times i wish i could go back to the thrid grades,, just now and laters candys and looking at shery willians chest

  • when music was music,,,,

  • Ashes to Ashes :]

  • Left Behind? Certainly Not! The Human League has a brand spanking new single available at the end of November called Night People.

  • I still have my Fascination! cassette.

  • I've just bought Phill's old black Jag, I keep lookin in the mirror man.....

  • why has this sound dissapeared? I want more !

  • it's mono..

  • 1982 classic

  • Another great Human League classic!

  • Showing me age now!!! ARRRGGH!!!

  • Great video but what the hell is up what that bullshit political ad, Defeat the Dept? This right wing garbage is everywhere?

  • 1:56 and 2:20 - Joanne is so cute! :D

  • 1:56 Joanne is cute! :D

  • 1:57 Joanne is so adorable! :D

  • Mirror Man? Is he Kazuhide Uekusa who gained notoriety for his sex offense arrests?

  • Godd song...but still not happy they used the footage of Donald Campbell's crash when he was going for a speed record on eitther Lake Windermere or Coniston

  • @alfieb2204 The footage is John Cobb's fatal crash at Loch Ness 29/09/52, not Donald Campbell's crash at Coniston 04/01/67. However, that does not make it less disrespectful than it already is.

  • @Hahn1962 Thanks for the info,

  • gr8 band....with gr8 tunes.............use to date a guy called Robin in Scotland who had his hair like Phil......he was tasty......wonder where he is know..........??????

  • I had one of those slide projectors at -30 seconds in when I was a child !!. Thankyou for this great post.

  • Had to watch a 15 second ad before the vid started , thats a disgrace and if youtube do that all the time i will use another site ....wankers

  • 2 of 3

  • Joanne is a cutey pie

  • I love Susan and Joanne! The Human League rulez!

  • they were on tour last year .ho yea they still rock the house

  • My favorite Human League song. I find it hard to believe that, in America, this was the B-side to Fascination.

  • @ftsjr Actually, it was not the B-side to Fascination in America. I have both singles on 45rpm(in pristine condition, I might add) The B-side to Fascination is Total Panic and the B-side to Mirror Man is a song called Non-Stop. I bought them in Kentucky when I was 13.

  • @80slvr87 Maybe there was a different B-side for different record pressings. In New York, Mirror Man was the flip side to Fascination.

  • @80slvr87 in britian the b side to mirror man was "you remind me of gold" ( agood song on yt)

  • Nice tune-- but what's with the crashing speed boat clip?

  • @modspell I think it has to do with the opening lyrics. "The water shines, a pebble skips across the face. A dozen times, then disappears without a trace."

  • where was this shot? Particularly the building where the singer sits down.

  • Great hits of 80's ....!!!

  • This along with Fascination, my fave tracks from the "League"...

  • Good sharing................ love this tune!

  • Hit #22 rock, #30 pop in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Fantatastic 1982 song

  • The Human League were my first favourite music group circa 1982 and onwards in good old Barcelona. In those days I read Smash Hits to practice English and I remember cutting out articles and collecting stickers

. Those synthetisers bring me back to those happy, carefree years. I had the biggest crush on Phil as well. Great underrated voice, too.

  • God, I miss the 80's. Good times, everybody got along, money was good and Ladies night ruled, you could buy a round of drinks for a quarter ! Drinks were only 5 cents ! Oh how I miss those days ! LOL

  • bring back the 80s

  • A fact that not too many know, in the video there is a boat that crashes.... it was filmed at Lock ness lake, the theory when the guy crashed, with a couple of the frames show some sort of object, and from what I know that it was nessy, the lock ness monster. I was proven years ago, and but people have forgotten about it...

  • One of the best 80s groups.....not too popular here where I live, learned about them in Germany.....so sad

  • 1982 i was 19 lol, great era for music 1980-1990, bought this 45 single december 1982

  • What movie was the beginning of the song used it?...It"s Driving me nuts that I can't remember!!!

  • In the 80s I had a massive crush on these two chicks I mean massive,,,hehe

  • 80's chicks still look hot to me. : )

  • great song

  • also reminds me a bit of "strange days at Blake holesy high".

  • it gives the essence of a ghost till the singer appears.

  • This is one of the lesser known great songs from the Human League, the dj.

  • Comment removed

  • This is like a Motown song(the girls) vs Roxy Music(Phil Oakey the singer) vs Gary Numan (the rest of the band).

That's what makes the 80s unique and unreachable.

    The mother of all coolness.

and it kicks some much ass til now!

  • @andrellsv all I ever heard then when it came out was Motown! I thought I was so alone... I never said a thing!

  • fantastic song of mid 80's

  • first time I heard this song, it seemed, in my opinion, talk about the Matrix (that one scene where Neo's body turns to mirror), but now I know that's just silly, because this was AGES before the Matrix, right?

  • actually, The Matrix was actually written by Sophia Stewart in 1982 and titled "The Third Eye." Stewart attempted to sue The Wachowski Brothers but was unable to due to heavy countersuits that polarized her case in 2005.

  • @machiner6

    yes 1982 lol

  • @machiner6 Believe it or not, this song was about Adam Ant, who's growing ego Phil Oakley felt would destroy Adam's career.

  • @machiner6 This was originally from the 80s

  • @machiner6 Yeah, everyone knows Matrix was about this song!

  • why does the background in 0:01 look like the alley that Charlie Bucket was walking down in the first "Willy Wonka + The Chocolate Factory" movie? [Song: "Cheer up, Charlie."] (or maybe I'm just thinking too hard?)

  • @machiner6 This video was probably filmed at the same studio in London as "Willy Wonka."

  • Sorry, I love Suzanne.

  • joanne is always the babe

  • 2:47--Zap, right out of the wall!

  • The Human League just signed to Wall of Sound records! New music (songs/album) expected this year (2010)!!!!
