Berezovsky is an untamed beast, one of the pianists with the best techniques, yet this time he speeds it up way to much at times and screws up the whole thing, and the whole orchestra and the conductor seem frustrated catching up with him. Berezovsky would make a god-like pianist in a recital, not as a soloist though.,
@rnmmrn I agree; there should be more space to breathe at the ends of the video...though this is technically nothing and does not affect the video at all compared to Berezovsky's interpretation here (:
I never cease to be amazed by Mr. Berezovsky. I serious doubt he burned 30 calories performing a concerto that would be the equivalent of running a Boston marathon for us ordinary humans. Everything he does is so effortless. I bet he could perform this note-perfect in his sleep. Stupendous.
BTW, please check out my own original Piano Concerto No 2 in D Minor written in neo-romantic style on my Homepage.
I hope to listen that you can keep perfect your ciriative own world satge by solo ricital.
Your hand have ability to more depth weight with higher much type accents on your piano playing and compose your self with using development your name
legard key streaming , much type your mane stackerts and stronger piching or etc. on your PAT. with your fame , I think you can achive sooner in your country promoting as great artist country on international signed.
Superior upper level SAKE or wine , when you open it,you can see and smell the upper lighter elegant note on wider qickly around you in there.
At the first, the purely fresh note as like a 1 light of sun beam, following ,you can enjoy your duets with it. This playing stage is simillor,I think .
In quater space ,the piano sound same powers like over floating wider from bottom ,I hope so,if I add this stage more better to higher value with bigger size sound by higher & lower.
I'm so frustrated =( I wish i have studied music when i had 6 years old. Now i'm 19, I can play piano but no like that, is too late for me, its really frustrating u_u
@catherinemariechan its never too late. i've been playing piano since i was 9 and i've never been that great at it, but i'm 19 now too and i'm trying my hardest to become this good. but its never too late :)
If this is indeed ( as noted on a "wikipedia" page ) the 2005 performance, it would have made Boris only 36 at the time of the recording, leaving him plenty of time to polish his technique and ( hopefully ) find a conductor who won't race through and slur those passages in the second movement.
I have the Ashkenazy/Previn recording on a CD, and it's damn good- far better than this one- but I'd still put Cecile Licad and Claudio Abbado ( Chicago Symphony 1984 ) up against either of these.
@WTBbboyNAME oh ok, you were talking about this piece in particular, my bad; indeed i've never heard of a Horowitz's recording // I was pointing out that Horowitz will never be equalled as the best Rach performer, i think we both (all) agree on that ;)
@WTBbboyNAME What a nonsense to make a list !!! Everyone's art is individual and special !!! You may talk when you can play it better !!!! Ingrid da Silva
@Ingridviola Let’s get real here. Whether you like it or not, artists are fully capable of being compared to each other. If we’re to follow this naïve line of thought, that just gives more and more license for “artists” like Lang Lang, the Andrei Rieu of the piano, to showcase their “individual and special art” which is bullshit for showcasing their abilities rather than actually performing art and sucking the general public into their soulless “art.”
@Ingridviola Even amongst legit artists, am I still not allowed to share who I believe performed the best technically and/or whose interpretation I liked the most? When two dancers audition for a spot, what happens? They’re compared and the *higher ranked* dancer gets the spot. When violists audition for a spot, what happens? The highest ranked of the auditionees get a spot. In summary, the Thou Shall not Judge line of thinking is naïve and borderline dangerous.
@WTBbboyNAME Indeed Ashkenazy n1. My daily RACH2 when I bike to school is Ashkenazy. For some reason he can create magic with this concerto. What I like about Boris is that he plays so relaxed and he doesnt overromanticise the second part!
@djmatz07 Amen about the 2nd movement!!! I love that he plays those chords at the climax of the 2nd movement so sweetly and delicately instead of grandioso.
@joseamorales84 It certainly *is* very nice. I have an earlier recording with Ashkenazy. It is perhaps my favorite music ever. So hard to compare favorites of different genres, experienced at different times in one's life. But I had to laugh at myself a bit, here. I've listened to the Ashkenazy over & over again, through the yrs. Never any other. And during this performance I kept catching myself thinking "Oh! That's not right!" whenever the performers made a different choice on timing, etc. :-)

@AlsatianCousin I'm not bashing you and I am not bashing Berezovsky. It was simply my commentary. Respect it or disagree, don't be a jackass.

It seems he's too worried about sounding pretty and dainty instead of truly delving into this piece. I hear no passion or infatuation.

@pianistajs - it must imitate your commentary then. You sound like a real party-pooper.
